Bio

"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us." - J.R.R. Tolkien Through trials and tribulations I have learned how I want to live my life. After growing up half on the internet and half in a book, I hope to be able to express both of these interests in the rest of my life though web development as a career and writing my own books as a hobby. If I'm lucky maybe I can find a way to combine the two!

Lo Easton's “Wrong Answers Only” Scholarship
    1. I had to work hard for everything that I have. Being born into a lower middle class family is hard. I had to go to public school. I had to participate in extra curricular activities. I had to do my homework only with the help of my two loving and un-divorced parents. I have used those trials and tribulations to push me towards my future. 2. I plan to pursue a career in English literature. I use the language every day so it can't be so hard to read a couple books and then pay someone to put their signature on my degree. 3. The year is 2015. I am an 8th grader in middle school. I am top of my team in track and am about to participate in the final race of the track meet. I look ahead of me. I see them. A veritable army of tall, two legged hurdles stand in front of me, blocking my path to victory. I stride forward and claim the victory I so desired.
    Gulo Marketing Website Design Scholarship
A website must be able to tell the client or visitor to the site exactly what it is about within the first few seconds of opening the page. This goes beyond just what the website is selling or what the message the site is trying to tell the viewer, it is about the emotion you wish to present. Art, at its core, is about emotion. When a painter paints a painting they are imbuing every brush stroke with a feeling and even if you are not an art critic you will feel that emotion in the back of your head. I thoroughly believe web design is an art form just like any other and with that the web designer should be able to create their website with emotion written into the code. This may all seem somewhat trivial as some website are simple meant to provide a medium through which the user can purchase a product or complete a task, but those purchases and tasks all have emotions in them, even if somewhat mundane. If you are buying clothes from a persons private shop, that shop should be able to tell the user the style and vibe of the clothing that they sell so that the person coming to the website to buy the products can immediately know what kind of products that are being sold. https://shop.morningwitch.com/ . Even with this a website does not need vivid colors and intense attention to detail to produce an emotion. Minimalism has become more and more prevalent in web design and it is not without reason. Being able to focus on a few select details can sometimes allow to creator of the website to let the user come to their own conclusions about what the emotion of the website is, only gently guiding them through basic themes and design choices. https://vulfpeck.com/ . This all connects back into how a website is marketed, both on and off of the site itself. Marketing is done for the website within the website mostly through design choices and layout. Off of the website the creator must follow the same design principals that are seen in the website itself. If you were to see an ad for shoes that is vivid and in your face with its colors and graphics but then you click on it and it is a simple black and white form where you can order shoes, you are going to feel deceived, like they had presented something to you and delivered on something completely different, even if the shoes presented in the ad are the exact same. This comes back into the idea of having a strong continuity between all instances of your website anywhere on the web, let that be on your website or someone else's.
    Bold Learning and Changing Scholarship
For most of my life I had grown up in the same community. I had been surrounded by the same people for so long and only learned about other cultures through the lens of books and videos. As it would happen, I was convinced to go into the city (not something I would usually be comfortable doing) as my significant other needed to go to a empanada truck for her Spanish class. I had never had anything like it. Tacobell had been the most authentic Mexican food my family had ever gotten so this was an eye opening experience. From here I wondered what I had been doing with my life. I went out and started trying any food that I could, I went to family own authentic restaurants, I talked to the people, I learn so much just in the short conversations we had. It has been a couple years since then now and I wish I could go back in time just to tell myself as a child one thing. "Expand your horizons, the only way you can learn about the world is go out there and find it."
