My name is Will Bruggeman, I am a Senior at Golden Plains High School. I would like to pursue a career in Automotive Technology. This career will enable me to become a more useful and successful citizen. I am looking to pursue my goal in the Automotive Technician program with High-Performance Power Trains as my specialty program at WyoTech in Laramie, WY. What I would enjoy most about a career in Automotive Technology is the people I would meet and the experience I would get. Automotive Technology would be constant critical learning that can take place while working. I believe I have prepared myself for this through the years of working on vehicles and tractors for family and friends. I have lots of experience working on cars and tractors because I work on the family farm. On the farm, something always needs to be worked on, from suspension fixes to oil changes. Automotive Technology plays an important role in society today because there is no such thing as a backyard mechanic anymore. Vehicles are becoming more advanced and need specialty tools and knowledge that you can't find anywhere. Being a useful and successful citizen is more than just the job you have. I have been active in FFA for four years serving as President for two of those years. I am also a member of the National Honor Society and have participated in all high school sports for four years. Along with school activities I have been involved in 4-H for 10 years, serving as an officer for my club for three years, and a member of CYO outside of school. When I start my family I hope to contribute to my community by volunteering for 4-H and helping with county fairs. I would also like to serve on the city council in my hometown or as a commissioner in my home county. Being a part of my family farm has taught me many things.
