Hi, my name is Andrew Weston Frick. I am an Ooltewah High School and Harrison Bay Future Ready Center (HBFRC) student. I've grown up in Ooltewah, Tennessee, my whole life, and my dream is to attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville for college. I plan to get a degree in the engineering field along with a minor in business. With some extra funding, I can achieve this dream. While my home high school at Ooltewah was great, my real discovery and passion for trade started at HBFRC. HBFRC is a trade/STEM school I attended for all four years. This school has taught me many valuable lessons and made me find exactly what I want to do for my career. In my first year, I took my first architecture class. This class taught me the basics of architecture and how to design on Autocad and other online blueprinting. I have taken three architecture and engineering classes so far in high school that I enjoyed. I loved creating and being so hands-on with everything. One of my favorite projects ever was when we engineered a wheelchair for a disabled hamster. We love to provide for the community at HBFRC, and a resident had a disabled hamster that we could help move again with our wheelchair! We also engineered and designed a fully functional, green, efficient house. The house runs on solar energy and is located in our eco-village. The house was fully furnished and had working sewage with all the necessities. The waste was later used for compost and fertilizer for our gardens. In my currently tenured senior year, I am in Dual Enrollment Construction through Chattanooga State Community College. I have learned so much in just a semester. This includes safety, wall framing, tiling, wall ceilings, proper use of tools and wood, and so much more. We have already built workbenches and a donation box and are working on a garden storage shed. HBFRC has also given me certification opportunities. I am OSHA-10 and green certified and I received my Six Sigma white belt. I also participated in an Ed Corps Beyond the Classroom episode promoting CTE for our school with Harbor Freight. I have a love for all three of the fields, and I want to continue to pursue them in college. I deserve this scholarship because of my hard work and passion. I have come to school hungry to learn all four years and have worked hard to understand and learn these fantastic trades. I won't let this opportunity slip out of my hands, either. My passion for A/E/C is vast, and I would love to continue mastering these skills in college to help the world and people. I am thankful for this opportunity. Hi, my name is Andrew Weston Frick. I am a senior at Ooltewah High School in Ooltewah, Tennessee. I am 18 and have a huge heart for football. I've played football for the past seven years of my life and it has been an absolute blessing. I am a devoted Christian and a leader. My dream is to attend The University of Tennessee at Knoxville which can come true with some extra funding. I've grown up a huge Tennessee Vols football fan and my love for Knoxville is wide. My passion is to pursue a degree in nuclear engineering and help this struggling world in my adult years. Being a student-athlete has taught me so much in my life. It taught me how to become a leader and how to work hard. Being a leader on the team has improved my already great leadership skills. Working hard has been my dad's message to me during his time here. My father passed away in 2021 after losing the battle with an alcohol addiction. His lessons remind me a lot of the same lessons I learned from football. I want to give 101% of my effort in every aspect of my life. Football helped me reach that teaching me to be comfortable in uncomfortable situations. Another valuable asset I have in my arsenal is how to work in a team. Football is the ultimate team sport. All eleven men have to do their job to win games. When one guy messes up the whole play is ruined. This is how life can be. In any team situation, project, job, or assembly if one person falls short the efficiency decreases. Football showed me how to pick those people up though. Rather than arguing or fighting the best thing to do is help that person and support them. Outside of my love for baseball, basketball, and football, I have found two new interests in my life. I've always loved listening to piano covers and always wanted to learn. I decided to download an app and learn the piano. I'm already making great progress and love it so much. An interesting interest I learned from school was drone flying. I have my very own drone and I plan to get my drone pilot certification. The world has so many needs for drones from the police force to construction businesses, and many more. Now that I know about all the jobs available it is something I will continue to follow and even try to work for. This scholarship would mean the world to me as I continue to follow my dreams. I can't wait for the next chapter in my life and to see what the Lord has waiting for me. I have football and my sports career to thank for all the many lessons I have learned over my high school tenure. I am thankful for this opportunity and thank the funder!

My dream growing up was to become an Atlanta Falcon football player. I remember all those Sunday afternoons screaming at the TV with my dad and brother. The Falcons were our world and I wanted to be a part of it. My dad was the reason I started playing football. Little did I know the amazing effect it would have on me for the rest of my life. I started playing football in my 6th-grade year and immediately fell in love with the sport. Playing was so fun. Being with your teammates and having fun and hitting heads and fighting to win. Football to me is so much more than just a game. My coach said it all the time, "Have fun playing the greatest sport in the world." Football truly is the greatest game ever made. Not for its fun and entertainment, but for its lessons. My seven years of playing gave me so many valuable lessons. The first is teamwork. The ultimate team sport requires all eleven men to do their job. You have to work together and you have to communicate. Teamwork goes into everything in life. School projects, competitions, the workplace, everywhere. Football taught me how to work well with others and even when someone messes up, rather than pointing a finger and blaming them, I pick them up. The second lesson football has taught me is to give 101% effort. No matter if it was in a game, in the weight room, or simply in school football taught me to give my all in all I do. Hard work is hard and it isn't comfortable. Football got me comfortable being uncomfortable though. My drive increased and my passion to do my very best in everything I did in life. This lesson will carry with me for the rest of my life as I strive to be the best me daily. The final and most important thing I learned from football is discipline. For seven years I went and practiced almost year round. In the 100-degree weather, I was there. In the rain, wind, mud, and suck I was there. In the mornings when all I wanted to do was lay in bed and sleep I still got up and went. It taught me to discipline myself and even when I wanted to fall over it made me keep going. I know my potential in life is more than what my body tells me. With discipline, I can be the best me. All these lessons round into one thing and that is me. These lessons from just a game are going to guide me through life. I have already seen them work in my life now. I want to use these lessons in my community by helping with my church's homeless shelter. I want people to see my drive and effort and wonder how I got to be this way. I love football and I'm sad it is over as I start my next journey in life without it. I have so many fond memories even through the losses and downs and of course these valuable lessons I'll always cherish. I want to thank my coaches and parents and most importantly my lord and savior Jesus Christ! This scholarship would mean the world to me and I appreciate this opportunity!
