Bio

I am a social entrepreneur committed to promoting wellness, sisterhood, and belonging for women of color. I lead a virtual health and wellness community focused on the socioeconomic and interpersonal impact of chronic illness, disability, and disease. With over 20 years of academic, personal, and professional experience, my work centers on developing innovative solutions to improve chronic disease management, disability, and continuity of care for marginalized communities, especially those disproportionately affected by social determinants of health. My mission is to address systemic barriers through health education and promotion, program development, research and evaluation, mental health counseling, advocacy, and holistic therapies, using a person-centered approach to healing and leveraging collaboration and partnerships. I envision a world where all persons are seen in their full humanity during every healthcare encounter. My personal experience with fibromyalgia, a chronic condition that brings widespread pain, fatigue, and cognitive challenges, has deeply influenced my perspective on health equity. My journey toward healing has fueled my commitment to advocate for transformative change in our healthcare system, ensuring that every individual has equitable opportunities to achieve optimal health and well-being. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences and a master’s degree in Social Work. I am a first-year Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) student, studying health equity and social justice.
