My name is Vivian Cantu, and I am currently a sophomore in college at Houston Community College. I am planning on pursuing a BSN and an esthetician license so that I may be dual certified. I also plan on furthering my education by becoming a dermatologist nurse practitioner so that I may open up my own business and advance it medically. I also hope to co-own another business with a physician and give the upmost quality of care to my clientele so that I may build a community where I can solve their skin issues. I have a passion for anatomy, science and aesthetics, which is what prompted me to pursue this career. This passion for these subjects only has continued to grow from the day they first developed, and I am so excited to create a business on the fruition of my passion. I truly will be committed to my dreams of becoming a dermatologist nurse practitioner who has her own med spa and practice. I have always desired to impact people's lives as I love helping others around me. As a compassionate person, I want to pursue a degree in healthcare. With this compassion I hope that the patients who are under my care are taken care of to the highest degree. My goal is to create a business on the foundation that one can feel confident again under my care and create a healing safe environment for those in need. I want to create a place that is a source of comfort and relaxation from the stressors of the real world. This environment will be welcoming to all, where an individual can feel cared for and feel seen. I want to cure anyone's skin condition and their peace. I want the people in my community to feel beautiful, to feel radiant and that they can come to my practice as a safe place. I plan to make a positive impact on my community this way as many can come to me under my care, I will give an oath to give them the highest quality of care. I am committed to giving my community an area that they feel accepted no matter their skin condition, I will fix it. I will help them feel confident again, comfortable in their skin, as everyone deserves to feel beautiful, radiating with confidence. This scholarship will help me achieve my dream to impact my community by bringing them a source of comfort, relaxation and healing.

I have struggled with my own issues in skincare. I was insecure at a point. When I did research on dermatology, I opened a new world for myself, and it invoked a passion in me that has only grown stronger. My friends, my family, who I have also helped with their skincare routines have inspired me to pursue my dream. I chose the field of healthcare because I have a passion in anatomy, science, and aesthetics. I am pursuing to become a dermatologist nurse practitioner, a career that combines my passions to make an impact on one's life. Becoming a dermatologist nurse practitioner calls to me as I can address skin concerns medically, help people feel more beautiful, and give them a time for relaxation from the stress of the world. Even as a child I had known that I wanted to be in a healthcare position because I loved helping people. My compassion and my ambitions ultimately led for the desire to pursue nursing, a career with the basis of compassion, an oath to help people. I dream that the patients under my care feel safe, cared for, relaxed and when they leave my care they will feel like a better person. I want the patients under my care to feel safe and secure; I want them to come to me to feel relaxed when they leave the appointment. I will combine my passion for helping others and my passion for dermatology into one with my degree. I plan to use my degree in the future to own my own practice, one that's medically advanced. I want to create a business with the foundation of empowering one to grow, to feel confident in their skin, to feel beautiful again and to cure the conditions of their skin. I want to cater to a community where they feel the upmost relaxation, where they can feel as if they are radiating with confidence. I want to create a space that advocates for healing, whether I heal a condition or acne or erase an insecurity, I will have impacted someone's life. I want my practice to have the highest level of care. To heal a patient or client both physically and emotionally. I want this business to grow and to be backed up with trust with not only my experience in my practice but with education as well. My practice will be backed by not only an esthetician license, not only a BSN, but an MSN as well. Ultimately, I chose this career path to create a healing environment where one can feel confident. To combine my passions and everything that I love, I will stop at nothing to pursue my dream and to use my degree to create a trusted business.

I chose nursing as my career path because I have an interest in anatomy, science and aesthetics. I feel fulfilled when I am able to help people and make an impact on their lives. My ultimate goal is to become a dermatologist nurse practitioner with my own business and co-own a more medical based practice with a physician. The purpose of my business would be able to create a community where one feels safe, relaxed and to feel more confident in their skin. I have pursued nursing because of my passion that stems from helping people combined with aesthetics, to help someone physically and emotionally. I dream of the day that I have a patient under my care not only feel but look like they are glowing, radiating in a newfound confidence. Ever since I was a young child I was told often by adults, such as family members and teachers that I was compassionate as I went out of my way to help people. I feel as if it is my life purpose to be able to provide a healing environment where one can grow. We only live on Earth once, and I have decided to choose a life where I can help others and create a business based on the practice of relaxation, growth and confidence, and even progressing it medically. There is one person that I could think of who inspired me to pursue nursing, the most important person in my life, my mother. As a first-generation Mexican American student, I have seen what she has sacrificed to raise her children. My mother too had dreams of becoming a nurse. One day, I would like to retire my mother and give her the life she always dreamed of. When I first did my research into dermatology and what skincare products and makeup I could use for me, I then created a skincare routine for my mother and bought her products to where she could feel more confident in her skin as she had mentioned to me insecurities in her skin that she wanted to get rid of. Seeing her gain confidence in her skin had cultivated my love for aesthetics, it meant everything to me. My mother, who is currently battling illness, I hope to one day take care of and remove any stressors from her life, as she is the main one who inspired me to pursue a career in nursing. There are many mothers out there, who are just like my mother, strong, who sacrificed their lives for their children, that I would love to take care of and nurture their skin, to help them feel more beautiful, that would be the best fulfillment to me.
