    Rivera-Gulley First-Gen Scholarship Award
My name is Vinh Nguyen, and I am a first-generation college student currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance at Southern New Hampshire University. As the first person in my family to attend college, my journey has been one of both immense challenge and profound growth. The experience of navigating higher education without the guidance of family members has shaped my life and career goals in significant ways, instilling in me a deep sense of responsibility and drive. Growing up in a low-income household, I witnessed firsthand the struggles that come with financial insecurity. My parents, who immigrated to the United States with limited resources and job opportunities, worked tirelessly to provide for our family. Their hard work and determination inspired me to strive for a better future through education. I understood early on that a college degree was not just a personal achievement, but a way to honor my parents' sacrifices and pave the way for future generations. Attending college has always been a dream of mine, driven by a desire to break the cycle of poverty and create new opportunities for myself and my family. However, the path to higher education has not been easy. As a first-generation student, I have had to navigate the complexities of college applications, financial aid, and academic planning on my own. The lack of mentorship and guidance has been challenging, but it has also taught me resilience, resourcefulness, and independence. One of my primary motivations for attending college is to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to make a positive impact on my community. My passion for finance stems from a desire to understand the economic forces that shape our lives and to use that understanding to help others. I believe that financial literacy and effective resource management are crucial for both personal and community development. By pursuing a degree in Accounting and Finance, I aim to empower individuals and organizations to make informed financial decisions that promote growth and stability. My career goals are centered around using my expertise to support educational and non-profit organizations. I am particularly interested in working with non-profits that focus on financial literacy and education for underprivileged communities. I believe that by helping these organizations manage their resources effectively, I can contribute to their ability to provide valuable services and support to those in need. Additionally, I aspire to mentor other first-generation students, offering them the guidance and support that I lacked, and helping them navigate the challenges of higher education. Being a first-generation student has profoundly impacted my life and career goals. It has instilled in me a strong sense of ambition and drive, pushing me to overcome obstacles and strive for excellence. It has also given me a unique perspective on the value of education and the importance of giving back to the community. I am committed to using my education to create positive change and to help others achieve their dreams. This scholarship would be instrumental in alleviating the financial burden of my education, allowing me to focus more on my studies and less on the stress of tuition and related expenses. It would provide me with the resources to continue pursuing my academic and career goals, ultimately enabling me to make a meaningful impact on my community.

My name is Vinh Nguyen, and I am a dedicated undergraduate student currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance at Southern New Hampshire University, with a planned graduation date in December 2024. Despite my major being in finance, I have always been driven by a profound desire to contribute positively to society, particularly through the realm of education and community service. This scholarship provides a remarkable opportunity for me to further my academic goals while staying true to my mission of making a meaningful impact on the world. Growing up in a low-income household, I have firsthand experience of the struggles that come with financial insecurity. These challenges have only strengthened my resolve to use my education and skills to help others, particularly those who are most vulnerable. My journey has been one of perseverance and determination, fueled by the belief that education is a powerful tool for change. This belief is what led me to pursue a career that combines my financial expertise with a commitment to social betterment. As an aspiring financial analyst, my goal is to work within the public sector, specifically focusing on educational institutions and non-profit organizations. I aim to leverage my knowledge in finance to ensure that these organizations are able to manage their resources effectively, thereby maximizing their ability to serve their communities. My work as a Financial Operations Manager at an E-Commerce Store has provided me with valuable experience in financial modeling, budget management, and strategic decision-making. These skills are directly transferable to the non-profit and educational sectors, where efficient financial management is crucial for sustainability and growth. One of my core passions is to improve access to education for underprivileged students. Inspired by the legacy of Robert F. Lawson, who dedicated his life to helping those in need, I plan to work with educational non-profits to develop programs that provide financial literacy education to students from low-income backgrounds. Financial literacy is a critical skill that can empower individuals to make informed decisions about their futures, and I believe that equipping young people with this knowledge can break the cycle of poverty. In addition to my professional aspirations, I am committed to community service. Throughout my academic journey, I have actively participated in various volunteer activities, including tutoring and mentoring students. These experiences have reinforced my belief in the importance of giving back and have provided me with the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of others. I plan to continue this work, focusing on initiatives that support educational development and financial empowerment. This scholarship would greatly alleviate the financial burden of my education, allowing me to focus more on my studies and volunteer activities. It would enable me to invest in additional training and certifications that are essential for my career in the public sector. More importantly, it would provide me with the resources to continue pursuing my passion for helping others, particularly through the lens of financial management and education.

Faith has been a guiding light in my life, shaping my values, decisions, and aspirations. Growing up as a Catholic, I have always found strength, comfort, and direction in my faith. My journey with faith began at a young age when I joined the Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement (TNTT), an organization dedicated to nurturing the spiritual lives of young Catholics. Joining TNTT was a pivotal moment in my life. This organization provided me with a community where I could grow spiritually and develop leadership skills. Through weekly meetings, Bible studies, and community service activities, I learned the importance of living out my faith in tangible ways. The teachings of TNTT emphasized love, service, and integrity, values that have become the foundation of my character. Faith has been my anchor during challenging times. When faced with academic pressures or personal struggles, I turned to prayer and scripture for guidance and solace. The teachings of Christ about perseverance and trust in God's plan have been a source of comfort and motivation. My faith has taught me to see challenges as opportunities for growth and to remain hopeful and positive even in difficult circumstances. As I pursue my education in Accounting and Finance at Southern New Hampshire University, my faith continues to play a crucial role. It shapes my ethical framework, guiding me to conduct myself with integrity and honesty in all my endeavors. The principles of fairness, justice, and compassion, which are central to my faith, influence my approach to financial analysis and decision-making. I strive to ensure that my work not only meets professional standards but also aligns with my moral values. Looking ahead, I believe my faith will be instrumental in my career. The financial industry, like many others, faces ethical challenges. My commitment to my faith will help me navigate these challenges and make decisions that are not only financially sound but also morally upright. I am inspired by the example of the two immigrants this scholarship honors, whose hard work and integrity led to their success. Their story resonates with my own aspirations to achieve success while staying true to my values. Moreover, my involvement with TNTT has equipped me with leadership skills and a sense of responsibility towards my community. I aim to leverage my education and career to give back, particularly by supporting initiatives that promote financial literacy and ethical practices in business. My faith teaches me that true success is not just about personal achievement but also about making a positive impact on others' lives.

As I reflect on the books I have read and the films I have seen, two series, in particular, have had a profound impact on my life: "Harry Potter" and "Percy Jackson." These stories not only entertained me but also imparted invaluable life lessons, igniting a sense of confidence and an entrepreneurial spirit that have shaped my goals and aspirations. Growing up, I immersed myself in the magical worlds created by J.K. Rowling and Rick Riordan. Harry Potter's journey from an unassuming boy to a formidable wizard and Percy Jackson's adventures as the son of Poseidon in a world of Greek mythology were nothing short of inspiring. These tales of resilience, friendship, and the pursuit of a greater purpose resonated with me deeply. Through their characters, I learned the importance of courage in the face of adversity, the strength of unity, and the transformative power of perseverance. One of the most significant lessons I drew from these books was the idea that it's okay to be different. Both Harry and Percy were unique in their ways, facing challenges and prejudices due to their heritage and abilities. Yet, they embraced their individuality, channeling it into their strengths. This message encouraged me to embrace my uniqueness, to have confidence in my abilities, and to pursue my passions regardless of the risks involved. In the world of entrepreneurship, this lesson has been especially vital. Starting my own business was a dream I nurtured, but it came with considerable uncertainty and risk. I often found myself grappling with doubts about which products would sell well, whether I had the skills required, and whether I could compete in a crowded market. However, the characters of Harry and Percy, with their unwavering belief in themselves and their missions, served as my role models. Just as Harry and Percy faced formidable challenges and formidable foes, I knew that in the business world, competition and setbacks would be my adversaries. But these books taught me to view challenges not as insurmountable obstacles, but as opportunities for growth. They instilled in me the conviction that it's possible to overcome even the most daunting obstacles with determination and creativity. My journey in entrepreneurship has been an embodiment of this spirit. I launched my own business, specializing in unique, handcrafted products. I poured my heart and soul into it, drawing on the confidence and resilience I had gleaned from my literary heroes. I encountered setbacks, made mistakes, and faced the ever-present specter of uncertainty. However, I persevered, constantly adapting and learning, just as Harry and Percy did in their quests.

My community has always felt like a very important part of my life, even though I am only twenty years old and of Vietnamese American descent. As I was growing up, I was taught the value of helping others and cooperating with others to bring about positive change, whether it was through the performance of simple acts of kindness or participation in more extensive community projects. Through my involvement with my local church, I have worked to influence change in my community, and this has been one of the most significant ways that I have done so. The church acts as a focal point for community outreach and support, offering a wide variety of services and programs to those who are struggling to make ends meet. As a volunteer, I have had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, such as organizing food drives, tutoring children in after-school programs, and assisting with events such as holiday celebrations and fundraisers. I have also had the privilege of working with children in after-school programs. My involvement with the community library is yet another way that I have attempted to exert some level of influence over the course of events. The library is an important resource for the community because it gives people access to information and educational materials that are necessary for their own personal development as well as their professional development. My experience as a volunteer has given me the opportunity to assist with a variety of projects, such as organizing book drives, leading storytime sessions for children, and assisting with community events and workshops. The desire to have a positive impact and to give back to the place that has provided me with so much is what motivates me to get involved in my community. I want to be able to say that I have made a difference. My identity as a Vietnamese American imbues me with a profound sense of responsibility to make a positive contribution to the community and to do what I can to ensure that everyone has the same chances to succeed and flourish. I am of the opinion that even seemingly insignificant actions can have a big effect, and that if we all work together, we can make the future better for everyone. In addition to the volunteer work I have done, I have also made an effort to educate myself on the challenges facing our community and to get involved in campaigns of advocacy and activism. I believe that it is important to use my voice and leverage the privileges that I have in order to help effect change, and I do everything I can to do so, including going to local town hall meetings, signing petitions, and having conversations with other members of the community. In general, my experiences volunteering at my neighborhood church and library have shown me the importance of being involved in one's community and the strength of working together toward a common goal. Even though there is still a great deal of work to be done to address the challenges that face our communities, I have not wavered in my dedication to doing what I can to contribute to a better future for everyone.

As a first-generation Vietnamese American college student, sports have always been an integral part of my life. Growing up as the oldest in my family, I have always strived to set an example for my younger siblings, and sports have provided me with a platform to do just that. Volleyball and soccer are the two sports that have had the most significant impact on my life, and I am passionate about both for different reasons. Volleyball requires all players to work together to achieve a common goal, and this has taught me how to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with others. Additionally, volleyball has taught me the importance of perseverance. Despite the challenges and setbacks that come with the sport, I have learned to keep pushing forward and never give up on my goals. On the other hand, soccer has taught me the importance of individual effort and dedication. As a sport that requires a significant amount of physical fitness and skill, soccer has taught me to take care of my body and work hard to improve my skills. It has also taught me the value of discipline and time management, as I have had to balance schoolwork, sports, and other responsibilities to continue playing the sport I love. Playing sports has also had a positive impact on my mental health. Engaging in physical activity is a great way to relieve stress and clear my mind, and it has helped me to manage my mental health and well-being. It has also provided me with a sense of community and belonging, as I have made lifelong friends through sports and have been a part of teams that have felt like family. As I continue my academic journey as a college student, I hope to continue playing sports and use them as a way to stay active, healthy, and connected to my community. Additionally, I hope to use the lessons I have learned through sports to pursue a career in the business world. Just as teamwork, communication, perseverance, and dedication are important in sports, they are also essential skills in the business world. I hope to apply these skills to build a successful career and make a positive impact in my community. Overall, sports have played a significant role in my life, teaching me valuable lessons and providing me with a sense of purpose, belonging, and well-being. I am grateful for the opportunities that sports have given me, and I am excited to continue pursuing my passion for volleyball and soccer as I continue my academic and professional journey.

Attending college is not just about earning a degree for me; rather, it is about acquiring the knowledge and skills I need to succeed in the business world, which would not be possible without attending college. Because I am the offspring of immigrants, I have first-hand knowledge of the challenges that my parents faced when they were trying to start a new life in a different country. Their unwavering commitment and generosity has inspired me to put in long hours and make sacrifices for the sake of my family and myself. I am well aware that obtaining a degree from an accredited college or university is necessary in order to accomplish these goals. In terms of the goals I have for my career, I have a deep interest in commercial endeavors and am an entrepreneur at heart. I have always been fascinated by the inner workings of businesses and the strategies that are utilized by successful companies. I want to acquire as much knowledge as I can about business in the hopes that one day I will be able to start my own company and make a contribution to the betterment of my community. Mental Health Importance Scholarship
As a student, I have only recently realized the importance of maintaining mental health. My mental health is of the utmost importance because it directly affects my ability to achieve success in every aspect of my life. I believe that maintaining a healthy mental state is crucial to one's overall health, and that failing to do so can have quite serious consequences. My approach to maintaining my mental health is holistic, which means that it considers numerous facets of my life. I make it a point to maintain an active lifestyle by consistently exercising. As a result, my mood is improved and my stress level is decreased. In addition, I make it a priority to get the recommended amount of sleep each night in order to avoid feeling exhausted or worn out. In addition, I prioritize having a network of family and friends with whom I can discuss any problems or concerns. For the sake of my mental health, I believe it is essential for me to have a trustworthy support system made up of people who understand me and are always there for me. A conversation with someone who cares about me can make me feel heard and understood, and it can also help me find solutions to the difficulties I am facing. Moreover, I enjoy spending time on activities that not only make me happy but also help me relax. For example, among my favorite activities are watching movies, reading books, and listening to music. Participating in such activities allows me to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and allows me to recharge my batteries. In conclusion, I have no problem seeking assistance from experts when necessary. I am aware that there are times when self-care alone is insufficient, and that it is perfectly acceptable to seek help from a mental health professional. Seeking professional assistance is not a sign of weakness, but rather of strength, in my opinion. To maintain my mental health, it is essential to know when to seek the assistance of a professional and when to take action. Maintaining my mental health is of equal importance to my physical health. My mental health is maintained by maintaining an active lifestyle, getting enough sleep, having a support network, engaging in activities that bring me joy, and when necessary, seeking professional assistance. By adhering to these practices, I have been able to maintain a clear mind, accomplish much, and experience overall life satisfaction.

My early education instilled in me a passion for science and mathematics, which has helped me become a strong candidate for a scholarship in these areas, despite the fact that I am majoring in business and may appear to be an unlikely candidate. In point of fact, both science and mathematics have played a significant role in shaping both my academic path and my professional goals. When I was a kid, I was always interested in learning about the complex mechanisms that run the world. My interest in science experiments and mathematical puzzles began at a young age, and it rapidly developed into a passion for the fields of science and mathematics in general. As I progressed through high school, I became more aware of the value that can be derived from a background in science and mathematics in the working world. After coming to this conclusion, I made the conscious choice to enroll in an academic program leading to a degree in business with a concentration in quantitative analysis. I am of the opinion that combining a background in business with a background in science and mathematics will not only enable me to have a significant impact in the business world but will also prepare me for a wide range of career opportunities. However, getting a degree in science or mathematics has proven to be a challenging endeavor. My status as a non-traditional student has presented me with a number of challenges, including limited financial resources, difficulties in time management, and the challenge of juggling the demands of school with those of a full-time job and a family. Because of these challenges, it has been challenging for me to make progress toward achieving my academic and professional goals. Because of this, I place a very high value on the scholarship. It will make the cost of my education more manageable and give me the opportunity to devote more time to both my academic pursuits and my own personal development. With the assistance of this scholarship, I will be able to expand my knowledge and skill set by enrolling in additional science and mathematics classes, participating in extracurricular activities, and conducting research projects. In addition, the scholarship will assist me in accomplishing the goals I have set for myself after I graduate. My long-term professional goal is to work for a large company as either a business analyst or a data scientist. In either role, I will put my expertise in quantitative analysis to good use by helping the company I work for make data-driven decisions that have a positive effect on its bottom line. Because I have a degree in science and mathematics, I will be able to take on this role and make a significant contribution to the business world when I graduate. In conclusion, the scholarship that I was awarded will have a significant impact on the academic endeavors that I pursue as well as the professional goals that I set. The pursuit of a degree in science and mathematics has been challenging but also rewarding for me, and I am thankful for the opportunity to receive financial aid that will assist me in overcoming challenges and accomplishing my objectives. I would be grateful if you would take into consideration applying for this scholarship.

These are all crucial principles in contemporary business strategy. Sun Tzu was an ancient Chinese military strategist. Similar to this, in his book "Leaders Eat Last," Simon Sinek uses examples from military history to illustrate the value of cooperation, empathy, and trust in creating successful organizations. According to Sinek, managers who put the welfare and happiness of their employees first are more likely to engender loyalty and commitment, which will improve the organization as a whole. Reading books on military history and other topics related to it has also been shown to improve critical thinking, empathy, and creative ability in people. By considering a number of distinct points of view and conducting in-depth research into a variety of scenarios, readers can develop a more nuanced comprehension of the world and the challenges it faces. Because of this, one's ability to make decisions and find solutions to problems in both personal and professional settings may improve as a consequence. Reading books on these subjects can improve a person's capacity for critical reasoning, empathy, and creativity, all of which will lead to improved performance in a variety of aspects of life.

Living sustainably is essential for the future of our planet, and I firmly believe that everyone has a duty to lessen their carbon footprint. As a person, I deliberately choose how I live each day to be as environmentally friendly as possible. I have made some significant changes, one of which is using less single-use plastic. When I leave the house, I always take a reusable water bottle and shopping bags with me. By doing this, I not only use less plastic overall but also end up saving money. I also make an effort to steer clear of products with excessive packaging and choose items with environmentally friendly packaging, like glass or paper. Using less energy is another sustainable practice I engage in. I try to use natural light whenever I can, and I turn off the lights and electronics when I am not using them. To lower my overall energy consumption, I have also made investments in energy-efficient appliances and light bulbs. This not only benefits the environment, but it also lowers my energy costs, saving me money. I am also thoughtful about how I get around. I try to avoid driving whenever I can by walking, riding a bike, or using public transportation. This not only lessens my carbon footprint but also encourages me to exercise more and save money on gas and auto maintenance. In addition to making these lifestyle adjustments, I try to support companies and groups that place a strong emphasis on sustainability. Whenever I can, I buy food that is organic and locally sourced, and I encourage businesses to produce and package their products in a sustainable manner. To keep my community and the environment clean, I also make donations to environmental charities and take part in neighborhood cleanups. I want to leave a healthy planet for future generations, so lowering my carbon footprint is important to me. We must act to lessen the effects of climate change because they are already having a terrible impact on our planet. I contribute to lowering greenhouse gas emissions and preserving the environment by leading a sustainable lifestyle. Sustainable living has advantages for the individual as well. It has aided me in making financial savings, adopting a healthier lifestyle, and growing more conscious of my choices and how they affect the world. I intentionally choose to live sustainably, which benefits both the environment and my own wellbeing. In conclusion, maintaining a sustainable lifestyle is essential to being a good citizen of the world. We can contribute to environmental protection and the development of a healthier world for future generations by making conscious decisions to lessen our carbon footprint. It is up to each of us to act and change the world for the better.

I do not fit the mold of the typical college student because I am a Vietnamese American, so I am classified as a non-traditional student. In addition to working toward my college degree, I also manage an Amazon FBA-based e-commerce company. I had to figure out how to navigate college on my own as a first-generation student and how to balance my studies and my business. Being a college student and operating an online store has been rewarding and challenging. Keeping track of sales and marketing while managing inventory and customer service takes a lot of time and effort. But it has also given me priceless practical experience that I can use to supplement my academic studies. I can directly apply the ideas and abilities I pick up in my classes to my business, and the opposite is also true. I am motivated to do more as a first-generation college student because I want to set an example for my family and community. As the first member of my family to enroll in college, I am aware that my success can encourage others to follow their passions and face their own obstacles. As a business owner, I am always looking for ways to develop and grow my company. In a similar vein, I am constantly trying to find new ways to challenge myself academically. I am motivated to perform well in my classes and seek out academic opportunities, such as research and internships, that will help me accomplish my objectives. I am constantly looking for ways to give back to my community and improve the world, whether it be through my studies or my business.
    Athletics Scholarship
My life has been profoundly improved as a result of participating in sports, specifically volleyball when I was in high school and strength training on a consistent basis now. They have not only assisted me in maintaining my physical fitness, but they have also taught me valuable life skills, assisted me in developing self-discipline, and helped me become more determined. One of the most important ways in which participating in athletics has impacted my life is the way it has shaped my body. Because I played volleyball, I had to move around a lot, jump around, and put a lot of effort into it, which allowed me to keep up a good level of physical fitness. I continue to reap the benefits of staying active, including increased energy, improved sleep, and enhanced health, as a result of my consistent participation in physical activity. On the other hand, participation in athletics has not only provided me with valuable life lessons but has also contributed to my success both on and off the court. While playing volleyball, I gained an appreciation for the importance of collaboration and communication, for example. We had to work together, encourage and help one another, and communicate in an efficient manner if we wanted to be successful. These abilities have been of immeasurable benefit to me in both my personal and professional life, as they have made it possible for me to cultivate meaningful relationships and work productively with others. Through participating in athletics, I have been able to cultivate a strong sense of self-discipline as well as determination. My position as a volleyball player required me to put in a significant amount of time each week practicing and training, as well as overcoming challenges. This discipline has spread to other facets of my life, such as my academic and professional endeavors, and it has helped me immensely. By establishing and committing to certain goals, I have been able to achieve success and triumph over challenges in many different facets of my life. Last but not least, participating in athletics has assisted me in building both self-confidence and respect for myself. As a volleyball player, it was imperative that I have confidence in both my skills and my ability to achieve success out on the court. My sense of capability and confidence in my ability to succeed in my personal and professional endeavors has increased as a result of this confidence. To summarize, participating in athletics has made a significant contribution to the improvement of my life. In addition to the health advantages of maintaining an active lifestyle, participating in athletics has assisted me in developing traits such as self-discipline, determination, and self-assurance. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had to take part in sports, and I am looking forward to continuing to be active and working toward achieving my athletic ambitions in the years to come.

The daily decisions we make have a substantial impact on the environment. Our actions can contribute to climate change, pollution, and other environmental issues through the products we use, how we travel, and how we use resources. Nevertheless, if we strive to live sustainably every day, we can reduce our environmental impact and create a more sustainable future. Reducing our energy consumption is one of the most essential ways to live sustainably. This can be accomplished by turning off lights and electronic devices when not in use, utilizing energy-efficient appliances and light bulbs, and taking public transportation or walking rather than driving. By decreasing our energy consumption, we can reduce carbon emissions and slow climate change. Reducing waste is a crucial element of living sustainably. This can be accomplished by utilizing reusable products, such as water bottles and bags, as opposed to disposable ones, and by recycling and composting as much as possible. We can reduce the amount of materials that end up in landfills and contribute to pollution by reducing our waste. We can also make sustainable decisions regarding the products we use. This may involve the selection of eco-friendly and non-toxic cleaning products, the purchase of locally sourced and organic produce, and the use of products made from sustainable materials such as bamboo or recycled paper. By selecting sustainable products, we can lessen our environmental impact and support businesses that prioritize sustainability. In addition, we can make informed decisions regarding our food and water consumption. This may involve adopting a plant-based diet or reducing our meat consumption, selecting seafood from sustainable sources, and utilizing reusable water bottles and filters as opposed to single-use plastic bottles. By making sustainable food and water choices, we can reduce our environmental impact and promote sustainable agricultural practices. Lastly, we can strive for a sustainable lifestyle by remaining informed and engaged with environmental issues. This can include staying current on climate change and other environmental news, supporting environmentally-friendly policies and initiatives, volunteering with environmental organizations, and taking part in community cleanup efforts. By remaining informed and active, we can help raise environmental awareness and work towards a more sustainable future. Overall, the daily decisions we make have a significant effect on the environment. We can reduce our impact on the environment and create a more sustainable future if we strive to live sustainably every day by reducing our energy consumption, reducing our waste, selecting sustainable products, making conscious food and water choices, and staying informed about environmental issues.
    Financial Literacy Importance Scholarship
Taking care of my financial situation is one of the most important responsibilities I have as a student. Because of the high price of tuition, textbooks, and other associated costs, it is not uncommon for students to accumulate debt. Nevertheless, I can avoid the stress that comes with managing my finances poorly and put myself in a better position for future success if I do so. Creating a budget was one of the first steps I took toward getting a handle on my personal finances. I gave a sincere assessment to both my income (from my part-time job and any financial aid I received) and my expenditures (including my rent and food) (tuition, rent, food, transportation, etc.). After that, I was able to figure out how much money I could actually allocate to things like going out to eat and seeing a show. I also make it a point to shop in a way that helps me keep as much of the money I save. When I need to buy textbooks, clothes, or anything else, the first thing I do is search online for deals and sales. I also make the most of student discounts whenever the opportunity presents itself. For example, I use my student ID to get a discount on my movie tickets and meals when I eat out. Managing my finances effectively also requires that I pay attention to my credit score, which is another essential component. I never let my balances on any of my credit cards get too high and I always pay my bills on time. This not only helps me stay out of debt, but it also ensures that I will have a good credit score by the time I graduate and start applying for jobs and loans. In addition to that, I make it a point to set goals for myself regarding my finances. For instance, one of my goals could be to put away a particular sum of money every month or to clear a particular sum of debt by the end of the semester. Both of these things are possible. Maintaining my motivation and concentration is made easier when I have clear financial goals to work toward. I make an effort to be accountable for my actions by maintaining a record of my expenditures and routinely reviewing my budget. I keep tabs on my income and expenses with the help of a dedicated budgeting app, and whenever necessary, I make the necessary adjustments to ensure that I stay on track. The ability to successfully manage my student finances is critical to both my financial stability and my success. I can make the most of my resources and ensure a prosperous future if I prepare a budget, shop wisely, keep my credit score in good standing, establish financial goals for myself, and hold myself accountable for achieving those goals.

Beginning a business in your immediate community is a fantastic way to make a positive contribution to the community's overall health and prosperity. It has the potential to generate employment opportunities, to stimulate the economy of the community, and to provide the community with goods and services that are necessary. The first step in the process of developing a concept for a new business is to locate an unsatisfied demand in the local community. It's possible there aren't enough grocery stores in the area, there's a high demand for inexpensive child care, or there's a requirement for specialized services like pet grooming or house cleaning. After establishing a requirement, the next step is to research the existing market conditions and the level of competition in the area to see if there is a possibility for a profitable business venture. You can use a feasibility study to assist you in determining whether or not your business idea has the potential to be successful financially and whether or not there is sufficient demand for the product or service that you intend to offer. When starting a business, it is essential to take into consideration any local legal and regulatory requirements that may be applicable. The next step, which follows the discovery of a requirement and the performance of a feasibility study, is the formulation of a business plan. A road map outlining your company's goals, strategies, and financial projections, a business plan is a document that outlines these things. Plans for operations, marketing, and finances ought to be included in it. The marketing plan should provide specifics regarding how the company will be advertised and how it will attract new clients. The plan of operations should describe how you will manage the day-to-day operations of the business, such as how you will hire employees and how you will manage inventory. The financial plan ought to include projections for the amount of revenue, expenses, and profits. To launch your company, you will first need to develop a business plan, and then you will need to secure funding. There is a wide variety of funding available to businesses, including loans from financial institutions such as banks and credit unions, grants from governmental agencies and non-profit organizations, and investments from angel investors and venture capitalists. It is essential to investigate all of the financing options that you have available to you and choose the one that caters to your requirements the best. After you have obtained financing, you are able to start putting together your business. Finding a suitable location, investing in machinery and supplies, populating the company with willing workers, and promoting the business to prospective clients may all be necessary steps in this process. Because starting a business can be challenging and requires a significant time investment and dedication, it is critical to maintain patience and perseverance throughout the process. In conclusion, beginning a business in your community can be an enjoyable and rewarding way to make a positive contribution to the overall health of the community. You can establish a prosperous enterprise that contributes to the expansion of the economy in your community by first recognizing a need, then carrying out a feasibility study, then developing a business plan, then securing financing, and finally building your company.
    Wellness Warriors Scholarship
Management of one's own health and wellness can be challenging for college students, but it is absolutely necessary for both academic achievement and overall health. While I am attending college, I maintain my personal wellness in a variety of ways, and I have found that these routines assist me in maintaining my ability to concentrate, maintain my motivation, and keep myself energized. I find that maintaining a consistent exercise routine is one of the most important aspects of managing my personal wellness. Even if it means getting up earlier in the morning or staying up later at night, I make it a priority to work out at least three times per week. Exercising has been shown to improve mental health in addition to one's physical health by lowering stress levels and improving circulation. I also take care of my personal health by getting the recommended amount of sleep each night. Although it's tempting to stay up late studying or hanging out with friends, I've realized that getting enough sleep is absolutely necessary to both my academic performance and my overall health. Even on the weekends, I try to keep my sleep schedule consistent and get at least seven hours of sleep each night. In addition to making the adoption of nutritious eating practices a top priority, I also plan and prepare meals in advance. This prevents me from relying on unhealthy fast food and snacks and ensures that I have the energy and nutrients I need to remain focused and alert throughout the day. In addition, it keeps me from having to rely on unhealthy fast food and snacks. I also make it a point to take frequent breaks during which I partake in activities that bring me pleasure, such as reading, listening to music, or hanging out with my friends. Because of this, I am able to prevent academic burnout and keep my motivation and engagement levels high. Taking care of one's health has an indirect but direct impact on one's academic performance. I am able to concentrate and remember information more effectively when I am in good physical and mental health, which ultimately results in improved academic performance on my part. In addition, engaging in self-care activities can help reduce stress and boost motivation, both of which can contribute to the prevention of burnout and an improvement in overall health. In general, the ability to maintain one's own health is an essential component of academic achievement for college students. The benefits certainly outweigh the effort required to make it a priority and make a concerted effort, however. I am able to achieve both personal wellness and academic success by making it a priority to engage in regular exercise, get an adequate amount of sleep, develop healthy eating habits, and engage in self-care practices.

The pursuit of education, in my opinion, is one of the most significant goals I can have in life as a first-generation Vietnamese American college student majoring in accounting and finance. For me, education is a means of expanding my perspective, honing my critical thinking abilities, and giving back to society in addition to being a means of obtaining a degree or landing a job. My parents, who are Vietnamese immigrants, stressed the value of education to me as a child while I was growing up. They made so many sacrifices to make sure I had access to the best opportunities because they knew that an education would be my key to a better life. My parents always emphasized the importance of a good education and hard work, despite the language barrier and cultural differences. I now recognize the value of education even more as I move forward in my college studies. I have a solid understanding of the financial world and how it affects people and businesses thanks to my major in accounting and finance. I now know how to manage budgets, analyze financial statements, and draw conclusions from financial information. These abilities are crucial for a flourishing business career and will be useful to me for the rest of my life. The worth of education, however, goes beyond the particular abilities and knowledge acquired through a major or program. We learn analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills through education, which are transferable to all facets of life. These abilities are necessary for success in any field, and they will be helpful to me regardless of the career path I decide to take. Education has also given me the opportunity to broaden my perspective and develop a more in-depth understanding of the world around me. My understanding of various cultures, societies, and historical events has improved as a result of the courses I've taken in history, literature, and sociology, among other topics. This has widened my perspective beyond my own experiences and helped me to become a more compassionate and empathetic person. Last but not least, education has enabled me to make a meaningful contribution to society. I am able to make knowledgeable decisions and offer insightful commentary that can help businesses and organizations flourish thanks to the knowledge and abilities I have acquired through my major and courses. I can participate in insightful conversations and add to the larger societal conversation about crucial issues. As a first-generation Vietnamese American majoring in accounting and finance, I'll sum up by saying that I firmly believe that education is one of the most important goals we can have in life. Education teaches us critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills that can be used in any area of life, in addition to giving us the specific knowledge and abilities required to succeed in a career. It broadens our horizons, enables us to meaningfully contribute to society, and ultimately supports us in leading successful and fulfilling lives.

Andrew Perez Mental Illness/Suicidal Awareness Education Scholarship
I have a strong interest in two completely unrelated things as a college student: working out and reading books. I know they are worlds apart, but both of these things have given me different ways to deal with my mental illness. Since I can remember, I have battled both depression and anxiety. With this illness, it has been difficult to get through each day, but I have found comfort in the gym. The adrenaline rush I experience after a vigorous workout somehow manages to distract me. After a challenging session, there is no better feeling of accomplishment that makes me feel as though I have accomplished something. Exercise has also aided me in maintaining discipline, which has helped me in other spheres of my life, such as my academics. However, I've always been a voracious reader. I've probably read it all—fiction, nonfiction, autobiographies, you name it. I've always used reading as a means of escaping reality and entering another one. It aids in my relaxation both after a long day of classes and before bed. Reading has, in my opinion, made me a more empathic person because it has improved my ability to comprehend various viewpoints. In terms of my future, I hope to work in finance or accounting. I've always been good with numbers, and I like using data analysis to help me decide. I believe that this industry would test me and give me the opportunity to put my knowledge to use assisting others in making wiser financial decisions. Having a routine has proven to be beneficial for me in coping with my mental illness. It has been essential for me to make sure I get enough sleep, exercise, and me time. Additionally, I've sought therapy, which has been a game-changer. Being able to talk to someone and work through my problems with them has improved my understanding of my illness and given me the coping mechanisms. In the future, I want to graduate with honors, get accepted into a prestigious finance or accounting program, and eventually find a job I love. Through my work, I hope to be able to improve people's lives and have a positive impact on the world. To sum up, my interests in reading and working out have each played a different role in how I manage my mental illness. They have given me a way to deal with my anxiety and have given me the chance to escape reality when I need to. Future goals for me include pursuing a career in accounting or finance and having a positive influence on the world. Although managing my mental illness is a daily struggle, developing a routine and asking for assistance when necessary have been crucial.

Inadequacies in my financial resources have proven to be one of the most difficult obstacles to overcome during the process of launching a new company. Because I am a student with limited funds, it can be difficult to find the money that is necessary to launch a business. In addition, it has been challenging for me to find a balance between the expenses associated with starting a business and the expenses associated with paying for my education. While I am in the process of starting a business and navigating my college career, I want to make the most strategic use of my time and resources. It is imperative that I give my commitments the highest priority and carefully schedule how I spend my time. For example, I'll have to figure out how to make the most of my time between classes, in the evenings, and on the weekends in order to maximize my productivity. I also plan to look for help and resources within the community of the college, such as events for networking, business clubs, and mentorship programs. Maintaining my concentration and sticking to my routine are two of the most important things I can do to start a business while also continuing my education. This requires me to settle on particular goals and priorities, devise a workable launch schedule, and keep my course of action in mind at all times. It will be necessary for me to be very strategic regarding the way in which I use my time, allocating specific blocks of time for things like my schoolwork, business planning, and personal responsibilities. Another essential tactic for navigating my college career successfully is to begin a business venture while making full use of the knowledge and resources already at my disposal. This could entail collaborating with peers or other business owners in order to pool resources and knowledge, or it could involve searching for funding options such as grants or loans. I also plan to look for mentors and advisors who can guide me through this challenging process by providing support and advice and who I can look up to as role models. In the end, I am aware that beginning a business while maintaining my academic obligations will require a significant amount of effort on my part, as well as commitment and focus on my part. But I am confident that if I maintain my concentration on my goals, seek assistance and resources, and make the most of my prior experience and knowledge, I will be able to overcome these challenges and move closer to achieving my objective of launching a successful business. Due to the fact that I am honest, work hard, put in a lot of effort, and am always curious about new things, I believe that I am uniquely qualified to make a positive impact on the community that I live in. Alongside my pursuit of a degree in business, I am eager to continue my education and grow professionally, and I am resolved to make use of the resources I have at my disposal to make the world a better place.
