WCEJ Thornton Foundation Low-Income Scholarship
I think my greatest achievement to this date would be getting into Auburn University. This experience showed me that whatever I put my mind to, I can accomplish. I hope to become an orthopedic surgeon in the future thanks to Auburn University and a future medical school.
Lo Easton's “Wrong Answers Only” Scholarship
1.) I do not deserve this. I just need it.
2.) Goals are not for me. I say only future.
3.) One time I went to a obstacle course and I had to jump over a log. I overcame it.
Women in Tech Scholarship
I am interested in pursuing a degree in STEM because women are very underrepresented in fields that are associated with STEM. I hope to accomplish being an Auburn graduate and obtain a medical school degree for orthopedic surgery.
Destinie’s Dollars for Degrees Scholarship
The way I would convince a peer to attend college would be to ask them where their goals are and explain to them that the best way to achieve their dreams and get the job they want in the future would be through college. College opens so many doors for underrepresented communities by joining groups and talking to alumni of the same community. College also helps you learn if the major you have is the one you would like to pursue or if you would like to do something else with life.
Catrina Celestine Aquilino Memorial Scholarship
My name is Victoria Quiroz and I am a current sophomore at Auburn University. I am a pre-med student and I am planning on going for orthopedic surgery. I chose orthopedics because I want to be able to help people go on with their daily lives. Without your legs, arms, joints, and even tendons you would not be able to do any of the things that you enjoy doing such as walking and eating and even just typing on the computer. So if I were to get this scholarship, I would be using it to make lives better so people can hike and jog like I like to do.
Ethel Hayes Destigmatization of Mental Health Scholarship
My experience with mental health has really impacted my life. I went from a happy child that was invested in every sport I could do to laying in my room all day and wondering if life was even worth it.
When I was 14, I had a surgery on my shoulder that caused me to not be able to play any sports for the year. During that time, I lost most of my friends and started spending all day alone at home. I started having people telling me that I was faking it and that I was the worst player they have seen so they were glad that I couldn't play. After that happened, I decided never to play again.
During my hardest battle with my mental health, I tried to end it all but was unsuccessful. I am now thankful for that because I wouldn't be the person I am now if it was not for that day of me hitting my lowest point. My mom has now encouraged me to go to therapy and learn to fight through my mental health and I am now stronger due to the help I have began to receive from family and friends.
