I have always been immensely passionate about writing, journalism specifically. I want to give a voice to anyone who can't speak up for whatever reason. I am constantly looking for ways to keep journalism alive, true journalism.

My college degree will change the path of my life and the lives of future generations of my family by providing us both with a door to a greater future. I have always wanted to be a journalist, to bring light to the children getting their houses bombed and mothers mourning the future they could not provide for their families. My passion lies in giving a voice to those who cannot speak up for themselves.
While studying in high school, I joined my school's Journalism class. I soon became Copy Editor of the Osceola County School for the Arts newspaper, The OCSA Ledger. I have used that platform to create articles that bring awareness to things happening in our world, with one of my strongest articles being one published as an update on the Russo-Ukraine war. I was able to get some firsthand sources from Ukraine, as I have family there, and made my article focused on the tragedies people have stopped paying attention to, which are very much still alive in Ukraine.
Finding funding for my degree to be able to educate myself and actually pursue a true career in journalism has proven to be one of the greatest challenges I've encountered. My dream is to go to New York to study Journalism and Linguistics; something I have always been passionate about that I have always included in my studies is culture and the great variety of it we all experience daily, which is something New York is known for! I would be able to include so many perspectives of so many different voices in my writing constantly.
After finding a college that checks all my boxes, my only issue is the tuition. Coming from an immigrant family, I have learned to cope with not being able to achieve certain things due to our lack of money for them, but college is not something I will give up. I want to be the first in my family to pursue college and show my siblings that it is possible, that doing something great with your life does not have to be paused or deferred just because you are struggling to achieve it.
With proper funding to allow me a higher education, I would not only be creating a brighter future for myself, but I would also be showing my parents they came to this country for a reason. That aiming to grant me a greater opportunity, worked.
