Bio

Hi! My name is Victoria Jordan and I am a Sophomore majoring in Nursing at the University of West Florida. I am a military kid and I take school very seriously. I had a 4.24 GPA and was a Summa Cum Laude graduate in high school. My UWF GPA is currently a 4.0 and I made the Presidents Honor Roll both semesters I have completed in college so far. I am consistently a hard worker and that is proven to be true in everything I do! I have been part of a few honors societies (the National Junior Honors Society and Beta Club) as well as accumulating many volunteer hours. One of my favorite volunteer experiences to participate in is beach cleanup because I love marine life. Outside of school, I enjoy cooking, creating art, swimming and spending time with my friends and family. I love spending time outdoors and traveling.

My name is Victoria Jordan and I am a 19, almost 20 year old with big dreams and aspirations. Growing up, my favorite subjects in school have always been math and science and I knew I wanted to pursue something in the medical field. I have always been very goal oriented and I made the decision that I wanted to become a nurse in 2020. At first, I was drawn to this field because I saw all of the hard work that went into this field during the time when COVID-19 was rapidly spreading. I was inspired because despite all of the physical and emotional demand being a nurse requires, it seemed so rewarding and fulfilling. Another determinant for me to work towards a future in nursing was when me and my family found out my grandfather was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer around this time frame as well. To say that I was shocked and devastated is an understatement. My grandfather always lived a healthy life, and to see him struggling in general with this diagnosis as well as being a major target for the Coronavirus scared us all. The nurses who work with my grandfather inspire me because working with cancer patients takes a lot of resilience. Cancer is such an aggressive disease and not only is it challenging to see the patient lose strength, or hope, the diagnoses affect the families of these patients as well. Seeing and living through these big events in particular made me appreciate how much healthcare workers do for us and how much work goes into any medical field. I am working towards my Bachelors of Science in Nursing and I absolutely love school so far. I have already completed my first year of college and my commitment and interest in this field are definitely shown in my grades and emotional intelligence. I go above and beyond when it comes to anything I set my mind to, and that is one of my best qualities. In the future, I hope to be an oncology nurse so I can work with people like my grandfather, and their families. Growing up a military kid instilled in me to be resilient, adaptable, and open minded, which I think are skills that will be very useful in this field of nursing specifically. I believe I am a great candidate for this field and I am not going to give up. One thing about me is that I am not a quitter!
