Hi, I'm Victoria, a first-generation college student, doctoral candidate in Higher Education Leadership, higher education professional, and proud single mother. My educational journey has been shaped by perseverance, faith, and a deep commitment to creating opportunities for others who come from backgrounds similar to my own. As a first-generation student, I understand the challenges of navigating higher education without a roadmap. Those experiences inspired my career in student affairs, where I work to support students as they build community, overcome obstacles, and pursue their goals. Today, I am pursuing my doctorate while working full-time and raising my daughter, demonstrating to her that education can be a powerful tool for creating generational change. My doctoral research focuses on the experiences of Black women working in higher education and seeks to better understand how institutions can support the well-being and success of those who dedicate their careers to serving students. My long-term goal is to continue advocating for educational equity, mentoring future leaders, and helping first-generation students recognize their potential and achieve their dreams. Receiving scholarship support would help ease the financial burden of completing my doctorate and allow me to continue investing in both my education and the students and families I serve. I hope to use my experiences to create pathways for others and ensure that students from underrepresented backgrounds feel seen, supported, and empowered to succeed.
