My name is Victor Mbengwie. I am an upcoming 2nd-year undergraduate student at Creighton University. I practice bravery and live boldly by simply attending a Predominantly White Institution (PWI) which Creighton is. Being in the Nursing Program at Creighton I find myself at times to be the minority as I quickly learned that the population mainly consists of White Women. Despite this statistic, however, I chose to still bravely attend this University specifically due to its renowned Nursing Program among other things. Every school day I boldly go out on campus knowing that in my program and in the demographic Populus of Creighton University people of color are the minority; I still go on striving for good grades, forging friendships, playing sports, participating in events and retreats, as well as living in the dorms. All of which are prime examples of where discriminatory practices can take place. Although, I am happy to report that I have, thus far not been the recipient of any such unfair practices and have not witnessed anyone being a victim thereof. I know that this scholarship will definitely help fund my brave, bold walk at Creighton, and for that, I will be immensely thankful!
