Bio

Avid reader but a writer 24/7. I’m passionate in chemistry, physics, mathematics, (Women in STEM) and—as you now know—writing. I’m also a linguaphile and know how to speak English and Spanish fluently and also enough French to hold a conversation. Occasionally, I do disconnect from my busy life to play the piano and look up at the stars, as cheesy as it sounds, but I am fully devoted to my passions, to God, and to my family.

Over my years-long experience as a student, I’ve had to overcome multiple challenges, being hispanic and 1st gen from having to juggle advanced classes and extracurriculars to having to sacrifice family time for improve as myself and studying. Not to mention the lack of motivation I felt throughout the beginning of the pandemic, and how I relied on my hobbies such as play piano and sports like softball; a great passion, to get past it. But I think the first key challenge I faced was in fourth grade during my elementary years when I was put into ESL classes due to my struggles in English for my roots and native language. Now, I can include a third language: French as an additional language spoke in my curriculum. Another tough challenge that has definitely affected my perspective on life and my major was my father's massive layoff by the company where he worked just as I started college, and having to realize that this could heavily affect my enrollment and even the existence of my future career in electrical engineering. After all my experiences, I feel the confidence and a great impulse to go ahead and reach my goals. I pursue a STEM field. I plan on graduating with an electrical engineering bachelor’s degree and also obtain a master's with emphasis and I hope to gain knowledge and experience to start out as a properly equipped engineer. Of course, always are new topics to me, but I want to have a solid base of skills that lets me do my tasks without looking clueless. I want to be able to face new challenges with enough knowledge to be able to get an idea of the topic and materials I need, especially if it’s something that deals with the manufacturing of electronics. I’d want to either work as a programmer for electronics or as electronics engineer that helps ideate structures and designs for equipment. This requires ultimate precision, both mathematically and scientifically, so coming out of college with a solid foundation in this field would prepare me for this and more. The scholarship award will push me further towards my Engineering degree and my dreams of one day having a successful career as an Electrical Engineer. Five years from now I see myself leading a large organization analyzing numbers, evaluating, solving certain projects matters or taking impacting decisions. I just feel blessed that I am given the opportunity to be awarded a scholarship to help fulfill my dream in a STEM field and I will prove that I do have what it takes to not only be a successful student, but an outstanding professional.

My dream is to become an electrical engineer and do programming on the side. I want to prove to myself that my hard work at school will be worth it.
