Bold Mental Health Awareness Scholarship
Demi Lovato once said, "You don't have to struggle in silence". In the short "Dolls with an attitude" we learn to be ourselves and share our mental issues.
Eri, had a fish pet that she sincerely loved with her heart. One day, a classmate kicked the ball into her fishbowl breaking it and unfortunately causing her pet to die. Her classmate apologized for what he had done and Eri with a smile said "It's okay, I'll just get another one", not showing that this situation has just made her. Since then she has thought that smiling could determinedly solve anything. She never stopped smiling that they hired her as a new idol because of her smile and her doll face. She didn't agree to her new job, they got her wrong because her face stayed still like a doll with a permanent smile. Her new job as an idol made her gain many fans wanting to be like her and even buying retainers to have a smile just like Eri's. Everyone thought she was perfect, nice, and always positive. Her friends didn't even want to hang out with her because they thought that Eri just agreed to everything that the friends had to say. Eri was tired of her permanent smile. When she was about to go on stage to perform her childhood fish pet appeared and said to her "If you have the courage to destroy everything, you can do anything". She then destroyed her face in the stage leading her to have a hole in her face. Everybody was devastated leading Eri to a new style.
We can reflect by this short film that hiding your emotions isn't okay. We can vent our feelings to others making it a practical solutions for struggling with mental health.
Bold Caring for Seniors Scholarship
Elder people are the ones that will give you a tip or a lesson about life without hesitation. These are the persons that have bloomed their plant in this world and will help new seeds bloom as well. They are innocent humans that have most likely achieved their mission in this world already but won't bother to steal you a smile. We should have special care for elderly people because inside each senior we have the best classroom that teaches life.
We can truly improve the lives of the elderly people in our community by having empathy and showing them that they are cared for and loved. We could make them feel useful by asking them for advice about a step in life since they have had the joy of passing through our age. Spending time with them and taking a moment to distract their minds from any mental issue that can be tormenting them could be considered as well. Outdoor activities would be recommended, this way it could help our seniors exercise a bit and take the Sun's vitamins that are needed.
Elderly people are treasures like life manuals. Let's not ignore them or make them feel less, these are the persons that have helped us and our world grow. Practicing some of these recommendations with at least one of our senior persons could improve their mental health, and physical health, and even motivate them to have another goal to pursue in life.
Bold Learning and Changing Scholarship
"You will never know the value of a person until they become a memory". As I have grown up, I have learned the real definition of the word value. I have seen many situations that had made my mind reflect on my present self and my future me. Fortunately, I realized in time the value of sharing positive memories with your loved ones.
In school, being a selfish and rude person just to fit in was never cool. I've always thought that being a mean person and disrespecting adults was a funny or savage thing to do. Talking back to adults or not listening to what they wanted us to do was the thing back then. Now that I have more age, I realize that this isn't true. I learned that it is not friendly nor a trend to act rude to our teachers. Teachers are the persons that other than out in home, help us succeed in life.
Teachers play an important role in my life. These are the ones that prepare me for the future day by day. I changed my point of view and way of acting for good. I am glad that I could understand the value of a person in time.
Bold Climate Changemakers Scholarship
Macron said, By polluting the oceans, not mitigating CO2 emissions, and destroying our biodiversity, we are killing our planet. Let us face it, there is no planet B". We are ruining our planet by trying to make our daily lives easier. Each human on this Earth could change one step of our daily routines, Earth could be a better home for us and for the future generations that are yet to come.
From waking up in the morning to getting ready for bed I now realize how much I damage the world's climate. I often complain about the temperature whether it gets extremely hot or extremely cold. Simple energy uses like charging my phone at the night, turning the television on, and turning the lights in my room, the restroom, and the kitchen lead to climate negative effects. Following this, transportation comes after. I pollute the world's fresh air by transporting my automobile to every place that is needed. A short stop in the grocery store is dangerous to the environment and you could maybe be asking yourself why. This is because we are given one bag per article to have easier movement of our groceries to our car. Finishing off at home in my home, spending thirty minutes in the shower with the shower head turned on. Next, washing my teeth for five minutes with the faucet non-stop.
Transforming our daily lives into something different can be a difficult change but not impossible. Being conscious of our home called Earth by trying to have as less energy as we can spend. Car pulling or walking to the nearest store could be beneficial. Having a reusable bag decreases the use of a plastic bag that takes a long time to decompose. A positive impact on climate could be possible!
WCEJ Thornton Foundation Music & Art Scholarship
Music is one of the many ways of art that we have been gifted to share and create a change for a soul. It's not only instruments or an independent melody to hear. Music is created to touch! Music joins your feelings in a time of agony, joyfulness, or distress.
Music is my dear partner in all situations. Every note found in each song line could be a reflection, sentence that boosts my self-esteem, or a simple world connection I relate to. As the tones change, my emotions stick to them like a roller coaster elevating in high chords but decreasing in an E minor. Rhyme by rhyme each line goes by, touching my heart music makes my mind fly. As the chorus comes, my emotions transform. Distracting the world from preoccupation of Covid 19 or lack of water. As difficult times confront us, music defends us.
Hearing, listening to music makes my mind free. Giving me the great connection to many feelings. Meeting new places on board of each chord. Clarifying each doubt as the chorus repeats.
