      Career Search Scholarship
As a high school student, I was certain that I wanted to be a lawyer. I had always been interested in debate and argumentation, and the idea of using those skills to help people was very appealing to me. I spent countless hours researching law schools and preparing for the LSAT, even though I was stll a high school student. However, as I did more research on the actuality of taking on law as a career path, I began to question whether law was truly the right path for me. While I enjoyed the intellectual challenge of legal reasoning, I found that I was more drawn to the creative side of the profession. I loved the idea of crafting persuasive arguments, but I wanted to do so in a way that was more visually appealing and emotionally engaging. That's when I discovered marketing. At first, I was hesitant to consider it as a career path. After all, it wasn't what I had originally planned for myself. But the more I learned about marketing, the more I realized that it was the perfect fit for me. The turning point came when I enrolled in a marketing class during my senior year of high school. I was immediately struck by how much fun I was having. The projects we worked on were challenging, but also incredibly creative. I was tasked with developing marketing campaigns for fictional products and services, and I found myself losing track of time as I worked on each project. I was completely engrossed in the process of coming up with a catchy slogan or designing a compelling visual. As I continued to study marketing, I realized that it offered everything that I was looking for in a career. It allowed me to be creative, while also challenging me to think strategically. I loved the idea of being able to influence people's behavior in a positive way. I wanted to use my skills to help companies develop products and services that would improve people's lives. I also found that marketing was a constantly evolving field. With the rise of social media and the proliferation of digital devices, the way we consume information and make purchasing decisions was changing rapidly. I was excited to be part of this change, and to have the opportunity to experiment with new ideas and technologies. Now, as I look towards my future, I am more certain than ever that marketing is the right path for me. I have already started building my skills, taking on internships and freelance projects to gain more experience in the field. I am constantly reading industry publications and attending conferences to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and techniques. I know that the road ahead will be challenging, but I am ready to take it on. I am excited to see where this journey takes me, and to use my skills to make a positive impact on the world. I may have started college with a very different idea of what my future would look like, but I am grateful for the journey that has led me to marketing.
      Sean Allen Memorial Scholarship
Climbing is not just a sport, but a lifestyle that has given me the opportunity to explore my physical and mental limits while discovering new places and meeting like-minded individuals. As someone who has always been drawn to adventure and outdoor activities, climbing quickly became my passion. Ever since I was 7 years old I'd start climbing trees, and make my own tree houses. I quickly found the adrenaline however in wall-climbing to be much more exhilerating. My first experience real with climbing was during a family vacation to a national park, where we stumbled upon a local climbing gym. I was instantly captivated by the sport and spent the entire day challenging myself on the various routes. From that moment on, I knew that climbing was something I wanted to pursue seriously. Since then, I have been actively climbing for several years, both indoors and outdoors, and have participated in various competitions and events. Climbing has taught me valuable skills such as perseverance, problem-solving, and the importance of trust and communication in teamwork. However, as a college student, pursuing climbing can be challenging both financially and timewise. The cost of gear, travel, and competition fees can add up quickly, and balancing schoolwork with training and competitions can be a struggle, especially high quality Bent gate carabiners, along with shoes. This scholarship would not only provide me with the financial support I need to continue pursuing my passion but also give me the motivation and encouragement to continue pushing myself to new heights. With this scholarship, I will be able to invest in high-quality gear, attend more competitions and events, and travel to new climbing destinations. I found that climbing offered a unique way to connect with nature and appreciate its beauty and power. It allowed me to explore and appreciate remote areas that were inaccessible by foot, vehicle, or other means. Furthermore, climbing helped me develop a greater sense of respect and appreciation for the natural world and the environment. I realized that preserving these natural areas was crucial for future generations to enjoy the same experiences that I had. Climbing has not only been a passion of mine, but it has also shaped my identity and influenced my life in many ways. From the physical and mental challenges to the social connections and the environmental impact, climbing has taught me valuable lessons and helped me grow as a person. Physically, climbing requires strength, flexibility, and endurance. It challenges the body in unique ways and can improve overall fitness and health. Mentally, climbing requires focus, problem-solving skills, and the ability to overcome fear and doubt. It challenges the mind and can improve cognitive function and mental health. Climbing has helped me develop these mental attributes, and I have noticed improvements in my ability to concentrate, analyze situations, and cope with stress. To summarize, climbing has been an integral part of my lifelWith this financial support, I will be able to continue pursuing my passion while also achieving my academic and career goals.
      Students Impacted by Incarceration Scholarship
The incarceration of a loved one is a traumatic experience that can leave a lasting impact on those affected. For me, that loved one was my uncle. His imprisonment had a significant effect on my life, teaching me valuable lessons and influencing my academic and career ambitions. My uncle was a kind, funny, and adventurous man who always had a positive outlook on life. He was the person I looked up to and confided in. However, when I was 16 years old, he was arrested and sentenced to 10 years in prison for a non-violent drug offense. It was a devastating blow that left me feeling lost, confused, and heartbroken. In the beginning, I felt overwhelmed by a range of emotions – sadness, anger, and disbelief. I struggled to come to terms with the fact that my uncle, who had always been there for me, was now behind bars. I found myself constantly worrying about him and his well-being. I remember feeling anxious every time I visited him in prison, surrounded by high walls and barbed wire, feeling like he was a completely different person. However, over time, I began to learn valuable lessons from this experience. I realized the importance of making the most of every opportunity and not taking anything for granted. I saw how my uncle had made mistakes in his life and how his incarceration was a result of those mistakes. But I also saw how he was using his time in prison to reflect, learn new skills, and become a better person. I didn't let this terrible situation affect my life, define my goals my academic achievements or my life. Instead I used it to grow stronger and stronger, because in the end, you can only look at the positive in each situation, otherwise we will all spiral out of control :). This experience has taught me valuable lessons about resilience, empathy, and the importance of making the most of every opportunity. Though I miss my uncle terribly, I am grateful for the lessons he has taught me and the impact he continues to have on my life.
