Public service means a lot to me and should to everyone else as well. It brings people together and gives opportunities to those who need the help of the public, the help from someone like me who has the passion to be in public service. It means there is civilization and good communities all around and I want to be a part of it, contributing while enjoying what I do as my job. I intend to serve by becoming a police officer at one point in my life and I have other public services in mind as well. Studying criminology will set me on the right path and once I turn 21 I want to go into criminal justice to pursue the dream of being in law enforcement. Being a part of the community brings people together and creates connections between people and the best way to be a part of the community is through public service. Whether it's volunteering, or even pursuing a public service career, being a part of the community is very important. This is because there are people that need those services more than others. For example, in case of an emergency, every person should have the chance to get help, and calling the fire department is a public service that is an amazing service that everyone thankfully has access to. Or senior citizens who are not able to drive, taking public transportation. Public services that have helped me and my family are the immigration agencies, these kinds of services are super helpful and life changing for people! I have always wanted to serve the public, knowing that I thrive on helping people and making sure everyone has the right to feel safe, going into public service was truly a good fit for me. As a sophomore I found out about a fire/EMS program that my school was offering, so I signed up and got in. Unfortunately, after a year I decided to switch my decision to becoming a police officer. Going to college and studying is super important to me and is truly a blessing to have an opportunity to keep studying. Having options with what I do in my life is another great thing I'm thankful for and that is because I am not 100% sure what exactly I want to pursue, and having different kinds of paths from studying criminology is great for me! Another option I have in mind is studying exercise science and that is because I love sports and I love being involved. One of my athletic trainers inspired me to think about this career choice. This is because I saw how involved she was, how she was always there for kids and that's tremendously important because every kid should have someone who understands them and supports them, whether it's about an injury or something they are struggling with in life. In conclusion, public service is something great in my mind, people have made it so far due to such a great effort in public service. I want to grow up and make my community better and society in general. The best way to do that is by serving the public, and making people feel safe, supported, and cared for. Either it's through volunteering or working in public service as a police officer! Having educational support for the great public service is a big contributor so I am grateful for any support that will help me and others to get the best education possible.
