Hello! My name is Vanessa Addai. I am seventeen years old and a senior in high school. I am African American with an ethnic background of Ghanaian and I currently live in Bronx, New York. When I am not occupied with school, in my free time I like to play tennis, shop, bike, travel, volunteer and watch and rate TV shows/ movies. My career goal is to be a part of the medical field as a physician. With this career I believe I can aid in leveling the playing field when it comes to helping minorities receive equal and equitable health care. In turn I hope this will help to lower the percentage of underrepresented lives dying due to lack of health care or lack of attention given to their medical problems. In order to start this journey and gain the needed experience, I am going to attend a 4 year university in Fall of 2022. The unfortunate part is institutions like this require a large amount of funds to participate in. However no matter what I will pursue this form of higher education and other programs like it such as medical school and residency. Currently, my aim is to gain enough scholarship and grant awards in order to pursue these dreams without the financial burden of debt in the end, taking away from my focus on my medical goals.
