I have lived with my single mother for the longest and most memorable parts of my life. My mother has 8 children, I am number 7 and the first child to go to college. The child before me was the first to graduate high school. My mom’s most obvious lessons were hustle and resilience, but the lesson's I hold closest to me are the lessons that guide me in conducting myself as a mindful, productive woman in society. Education was not big to her, however, watching me go through the college process made her regret not stressing it more to her kids. Despite that, I still believe my mother helped me self actualize and always seek clear understanding. She was open with us. She wrote books about her life and did not shield us from the truth of being black in impoverished America. She talked about gun violence in her community, emancipated at 16 and moving hours away with zero family support. Every time she had a public speaking engagement she proudly brought me along and stressed how important it was to not just view other people and cast judgement but to understand where you stand and how that behavior impacts others. I plan to use the lessons learned from observing my mother, to help out the generations under me. I remember the fear that would freeze me when I was confused and nobody being there to assist. Currently, I have 7 nephews and 2 nieces. While still living near my siblings, I take time to teach their kids emotional regulation and help them understand situations they face to eliminate unnecessary frustration. I aspire to do this on a larger scale for children who unfortunately have to go through the U.S legal system. I want a genuinely educated, passionate future.

1. I found TXT in December 2019 2. One of the most important characteristics of being a MOA to me, is appreciating all the members and the hard work they put into content they put out. 3. My bias is Huening Kai. He’s been my bias since Summer 2020. I picked him as my bias based of looks at first. However, as time went on I felt his personality was fun. He was young when TXT first debuted and despite being nervous or to himself he had a lot of fun in challenges. He also has a loud laugh like mine, he liked teddy bears like I did and there was a lot of similarities I found. 4. My ULT biases are Huening Kai (TXT) and Wonwoo (SVT) 5. My favorite TXT song is Nap of a Star. When I was in middle school I had sleeping difficulties due to stress and anxiety. So I would look up soft TXT song playlists and eventually graduated towards the hours long versions of Nap of a Star, and the instrumental. It helped me calm down and focus on the lyrics straightened out my thoughts enough for me to sleep. 6. Yes! I saw them in GA in 2025. My cousin bought me 2 tickets (I brought along my friend who also loves TXT) she said I deserved them as I’ve been through a lot in life and still came out with a positive attitude. 7. My favorite album concept is The Name Chapter: Temptation concept. It reminded me a lot of old TXT. The visuals, the incorporation of the cat again, it was very creative and balanced the youthfulness of TXT with the growth they’ve had over the years. 8. I am currently paying for school with scholarships, grants and federal financial aid. 9. The day I applied for the scholarship is also the day I found out I was waitlisted for housing. I am going to an out of state school, my family is impoverished and if I get off campus housing then that is the same cost as paying for another apartment for my family. I still have to help pay for transportation to the new state, books for my classes, food to eat on campus, and before I get a job in the new state I also wanted to ensure I could cover small fees. This scholarship will help me begin to pay for off campus housing (if necessary) and take some of the financial burden off my family. 10. TXT influenced me to come out of my shell. I was in 6th grade when the pandemic hit and had just moved schools. Then in 8th grade I started another new school. I was terrified, and I did not talk to people. But I watched a lot of TXT content and the meanings of their songs, in addition to the bond they have with each other made me want to have friends. It also made me want to be a good friend, I made a kpop tik tok account and begin befriending MOAs, then I took my conversational skills out to the real world and I made lots of friends. They also influenced me to grow alongside people, not just desert them because I feel different. 11. I am majoring in childhood studies as a prerequisite for a law degree. I want to be a family lawyer and focus on becoming a child liaison. I don’t want children who have to deal with the legal system to be as afraid as I was when I had to be in a huge courthouse at the age of 9. I also want to be an elementary school teacher while I am in law school and educate the next generation of kids! This scholarship has been so fun to fill out, thank you!
