As a life-long violin student with experience on local, state, and national stages, my experience in the arts has made me understand the importance of an education in music. As a result, I plan to pursue higher education as a Music Ed major after high school graduation. However, playing an instrument is not the only way I give to the community. I strive to foster a safe, loving environment where others can develop their artistic skills while still being involved in a caring community of friends. For me, the community and the people involved in any production are more important than the production itself. Any production is temporary, but the impact we make on others can last a lifetime.

Growing up as a young musician, my early years on the violin were defined by isolation rather than inspiration. As one of the few students in my elementary school who played an instrument, I struggled to find a sense of belonging through music. Practicing the violin felt like a chore, and I often wanted to give up. However, this challenge to embrace discipline over fun at a very young age ultimately taught me resilience and perseverance. Joining my first orchestra in middle school was a turning point, as my music director recognized my potential and encouraged me to develop leadership and confidence. Through his mentorship, he guided me through what it means to lead and to educate. Under his guidance, I went from an isolated student hiding in the back of the orchestra to the Concertmaster of the 2022 Florida All-State Honors Middle School Orchestra. My continuous leadership roles today are a continuation of what I was taught by Mr. Fernandez.
These experiences shaped my teaching philosophy, reinforcing that empathy is the most vital tool for an educator. My teacher saw me when no one else did, and I will do the same for my future students. My commitment to empathy in the classroom is why, for the past five years, my professional goal has been to become a music educator. I am passionate about inspiring others through music, just as my mentor did. Throughout high school, I have taken leadership roles within orchestras and gained teaching experience, from competing at state and national competitions to volunteering at nationwide conferences. Serving as high school Orchestra President has confirmed that helping others discover music is my calling. Whether it is serving as a coordinator on a logistics team, peer-mentoring, or leading meetings, my current contributions have solidified my commitment to serving others through music.
However, I recognize that any dream requires hard work and attention to detail. I've learned this through my years of discipline as both a musician and an academic. Music education requires the educator's resilience to show up even when the notes—or life's challenges—don't come easily. I have prioritized advocating for and committing to the programs I lead in high school, even in those difficult moments—a philosophy I also intend to bring with me to my future classrooms.
As a Latina, I value cultural diversity in music. Embracing differences through music and teaching can unite communities in ways that transcend language barriers. I want to ensure that students from all backgrounds feel the belonging I lacked in elementary school.
As an educator, I will champion underrepresented composers, mentor the struggling, and serve diverse communities with a mindset of empathy and resilience. I believe I can truly impact our community and world with music. I am convinced that demonstrating the importance of building bridges in the music industry through action is vital to inspire future generations to do the same.
