Bio

Hello there! My name is Urooj Nasir, and I am a student at West High School in Torrance, California. I am a Pakistani-American high school senior and an aspiring Computer Engineer dedicated to bringing innovative ideas to medical health technology. I was raised in a household where resilience and initiative were constantly reinforced, and it is this discipline that propels me to pursue this rigorous field. During high school, I dedicated myself to being a Girls Who Code international chapter founder and president, a coding teacher, Crimson Global Research Student Ambassador, and Editor-in-Chief of my school newspaper’s publication. These experiences reinforced my interest in programming, research, and creating something tangible through group efforts. From those experiences and my family's encounters with medical surgery, I am deeply fascinated by the intersection of robotics and medicine. I frequently research Intuitive Surgical’s latest advancements in robotic-assisted surgery, and find myself wondering about the engineering required to achieve such precision. I aspire to join the Intuitive Surgical team and contribute to the evolution of targeted robotic surgery. To prepare for this path, I have completed two years of college-level Calculus, Physics, and Chemistry as a high school student and have independently learned programming languages such as Java and Python. Earning scholarships to support my journey will allow me to focus entirely on becoming an engineer who reinforces the bridge between modern medicine and technology.
