Friedrich Nietzsche said that what does not kill us makes us stronger. I learned this simple principle in my early childhood when my parents gave me all the love in the world, but could not afford any pocket money. By overcoming our financial hardships, I learned the key life values, and I hardened my willpower. I know how to save and manage money, and I will become a successful woman.

I want to make both my parents’s dreams come true. Especially for my precious mom, she has had the most positive impact in my life about studying for such a long time. She’s my motivation and has my back all the time. Back in the day when my mom was my age, she always wanted to have a bachelor’s degree and work for a hospital but my mom’s side was too broke and couldn’t afford for her to go to school. She works now as an owner of a small grocery in town in Vietnam and I’m living with my dad in the United States. My dad never went to college, either high school. He was in the military and started working in between middle school. They worked so hard for me to move from Vietnam to the United States for a better future and more opportunities. I tried my best to get good grades in high school and also improve my English. The more I see how difficult for them to make money and afford things for me and my siblings, the more I want to do more so I can help them live a better life. They’ve been through a lot just for me to go to school and don’t have to suffer like them. I do appreciate and grateful for being their daughter. Hope and my love for my parents are my first priority that drove my interest in going to college. I want to make their dreams of having a chance to learn, to earn a degree and a wonderful stable job come true. I want them to proud of their daughter. I want to be successful so my parents don’t have to suffer from life. They’re getting older day by day, they deserve to live a better life.
