Speaking your mind is important, however, some people have a hard time speaking up. Speaking doesn't necessarily mean giving a speech in front of a crowd of people. There are many ways you can speak your mind on things that concern you. Writing a blog, posting on social media, and protesting are some great ways of speaking your mind. The way I stay committed is by working with others who share the same opinion. We would talk about problems that need to be solved in youth gatherings and events. Staying in a group can help everyone stay committed. In May of 2021, our youth group would attend protests in support of Palestinian people who are being oppressed in their homeland. We would go to rallies and protests to show our support. We would talk about it to one another and those who are unaware of the situation over in Palestine. We would post on social media about the crisis as much as possible. Being in this group helps us from falling into the trend trap. This is when many people show support by protesting and posting on the internet, but forget about it a few weeks later. Staying in this group helped me stay committed to this. As a Muslim student in the US, I have to endure hatred from those who don't understand my religion. However, in my youth group, we have a mission and that mission is to educate others about our faith who don't know much about Islam. We pass pamphlets and English Qur'ans to people in public. We try our best to answer their questions and help them understand that we too are humans and are the same as everyone else. This shows how staying in a group helped me stay committed to speaking my mind.
