In my life, COVID-19 along with the changing of houses has affected my life and shaped me into who I am today. Growing up in your childhood house is amazing. So many memories that are formed inside of that house. When that is gone because you move away it is very sad. When my family moved from my childhood house the world was also going through a pandemic. The combination of these two events happening close to each other caused me to be who I am today. It helped me learn to push through tougher times and come out on the other side better than ever. After the world opened back up, I was able to become a better speaker than I was before. Through moving houses it helped me learn that change is sometimes good for everyone. This has inspired me to go into chemical engineering because, throughout the changing of houses and the pandemic, I was able to focus on what was inside of many different things. I also learned that I am good at math and problem-solving. Chemical engineering can bring both of these areas together and help me live out my dream of helping change the world. My goal is to change the world for the better whether that be a new cure to a disease or a safer way to travel. Chemical engineering is such a great way to do that because everything in the world has chemicals in it whether it is alive or not. Throughout my life I have known many people who have dealt with extreme diseases and through chemical engineering I can help that. My grandfather has had three different types of cancer and has been helped every single time. I would like to find a way to help cure the different cancers so nobody else will have to go through something so tragic like cancer. If I go into a different field I will try to help the world in any way possible whether that would be to have a safer way to make a car move or even make something new to help save the world. Ultimately this scholarship will help me make a difference because it will help pay for some of the schooling I need to fulfill this dream. School is extremely expensive and the only way I will be able to attend the University of Toledo to achieve these dreams is if I get the financial help I need. Thank you for the opportunity to apply for this scholarship.
