Service is not something I do only when it is convenient, It is a responsibility I carry with me every day. My name is Ty’Shawn Davis, and as a senior at Camden Fairview High School, I have learned that leadership is measured not by titles, but by the willingness to show up, uplift others, and make a difference when it matters most. Throughout high school, I have remained dedicated to academic excellence, leadership, and community involvement. I am actively involved in Beta Club and Key Club where I serve as a community speaker, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for different community clubs like Rotary. I’m also a part of Mu Alpha Theta, a math club run by the math department for students with good academic grades in math. Kappa League, a premier leadership development program for male students in grades 6-12 founded in 1969 by Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc, and We also have a club for young men at our school called Gents (Gentlemen Excelling For Tomorrow's Success) where I serve as the President. Last but not least, I have been a part of the band since 6th grade and I completely loved it since. In the band I serve as the percussion section leader where I play the bass drum. And many more auxiliary instruments. With that being said I currently serve as Vice President of 148 Senior Students, and it has honestly been a pleasure to serve them for the 2025-2026 school year. In May 2025, I was selected to participate in Arkansas Boys State an immersive, week-long leadership and civic education program for high school juniors, held at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway sponsored by the American Legion since 1940, it allows students to create a mock state government, run for office, and pass legislation, fostering civic responsibility. It was an experience that strengthened my leadership skills and expanded my understanding of civic responsibility. These opportunities have taught me discipline, teamwork, and the importance of being someone others can rely on. My future aspirations have been greatly influenced by my role as the boys’ basketball team manager, a position I have held since my freshman year and I can say it's been worth the learning experience. When I first came over to high school I had to get adjusted and find myself, that’s when I met a coach like no other Mr. Johnny Jackson. He taught me things on how to be a man and become a man, leadership, hard work, and dedication to what I was called to do by God. In this role of being basketball manager I worked hard along with the coaches and players to help make sure they had everything they needed making sure everything stayed cleaned and organized, and also making sure they stayed safe. I support athletes both on and off the court, ensuring their well being and helping them perform at their highest level. Through this experience, I discovered my passion for caring for athletes and supporting their physical and mental development. As a result, I plan to attend Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Arkansas and major in Exercise Science(Pre-Professional). My goal is to combine my love for sports with my desire to serve others through a career that allows me to guide athletes physically, mentally, and emotionally. Beyond my personal goals, I am passionate about ensuring younger students receive the education, and opportunities they need to succeed, ideally even greater opportunities than those I have been given. Thank you for considering me for this Scholarship have a blessed one.

Black excellence, to me, is the relentless pursuit and achievement of success in all fields by Black individuals, despite the systemic barriers and historical disadvantages they face. It's about exceeding expectations, setting new standards, and uplifting the Black community through one's accomplishments. It's also about honoring our heritage, celebrating our culture, and using our talents to create positive change in the world. Black excellence is not just about individual success; it's about collective empowerment and creating a more equitable future for generations to come. Us black men in the world, are powerful in our on different ways. From helping out in the community to standing up for ourselves and what’s right. People look down on us as if we’re bad people, or killers. But in real life we all have a purpose in this world. Like for instance, the young black kids. They need us older black men to help them and guide them to the right roads in life. Yes there will be obstacles in life but if we help out each-other Gods is going to pay us back for the god we done for him. It’s not a race thing it’s a thing that’s called life that we’re all living. Let’s continue to grow and shine our black excellence on each other. Fix what’s broken, don’t talk down on another. And just be great. We have men and women who are black and is shining bright in many different ways. Just for us to grow up and become just like them or even better. Some examples of black excellence are. Science and technology, sports, arts and culture, some politics, and businesses. Black on businesses, are some of the most powerful things in the world. From food places to health items to clothes and etc. These businesses grow more and more everyday because as we look at them or advertise them it’s making it more popular in the world. The good places also. People love to eat especially me. So of course the food places grow because they get so much business. There are so many young black athletes that are getting full ride scholarships and grants, Because of how good they are. Every sports as atleast over 200 too 300 Black African American men and women in them. It’s just something about watching sports and seeing our people have fun while also focusing on the games. With that being said Black Excellence means the world to me and I see it everyday.!
