Built for Business Scholarship
Obtaining my business degree will allow me the knowledge to not only run a business but also to launch as many business ideas as I see fit. My mind is swarming with ideas that are not only liberating but also history-making.
From early on in life, I knew that I wanted to be my own boss. I wasn't sure how I would attain this dream, but I just knew that I wanted it. Once I graduated high school, I took a year off from school to try and find myself. I decided that after that time, I would dive right into learning Business Administration at my local community college. I struggled significantly while taking Accounting. This discouraged me a little bit, but I did not let it defeat me. I arranged a tutor and was able to grasp the subject in its entirety.
Fast forward to the release of online school, I signed up and was able to grasp the subjects pretty well. I enjoyed learning at my own pace, and having an accountability partner really helped me. Unfortunately, I did not finish my degree and actually gave up on school, business, and all my ambitions at once. I kept telling my story, and eventually, my friends and family encouraged me to get back into school and finish my degree. Especially since I couldn't seem to stop talking about it. I tried going back to school to study real estate, but that didn't quite pan out. Then I tried insurance, and it stuck. I sold some policies, helped some families, and I made my own schedule for the most part. Something was missing, but what?
I decided it was time for me to start a business with the knowledge I had gained, so I did. I started a publishing company geared toward making publishing accessible as well as affordable. This became my passion, and I dream of helping others in everything that I do. Unfortunately, this project did not last through the pandemic. At that point, I realized I needed more knowledge. I enrolled back in school, and here I am achieving greatness and applying for scholarships. I have been learning so many important things recently that have helped me add so much knowledge to my journey.
I am in the process of revamping my publishing company with a totally new edge and a new mission. Did you know that only 5.9% of published authors are Black Americans in the United States? I recently learned that, which made my calling even louder to me. I enrolled in business programs and business courses. This is my second chance to get it right, and I'm grateful to be serving the underserved.
It's the business education that is launching my business this time around. I believe having an official business degree will impact my life by being the number one thing I worked the hardest on, as well as the longest. It will be my greatest accomplishment, and the stepping stone to me being the first one in my family to not only go to college and graduate, but have something to show for it in the end. I plan to impact the lives of future authors and creatives as they navigate their journeys to becoming published. Together, we will raise that representation percentage. This degree won't just impact my life, but the lives of many, for generations to come.
