The night my brother R.J. died, my world split into two—before and after. Before, I was just a normal kid with an older brother I idolized. After, I was the sibling left behind, struggling to make sense of a world that no longer included him. R.J. was 17, five and a half years older than me, and he was everything I wanted to be—fearless, charismatic, the kind of person who could walk into a room and immediately make it brighter. He was the best big brother, the kind who never made me feel like I was tagging along, even when I obviously was. If he was shooting hoops with his friends, he’d make sure I got a few shots in. If I got picked on at school, I never had to ask him for help—he just knew. The summer before his senior year, everything changed. He had always been athletic, but over the past few months, he’d started getting tired more easily. He brushed it off at first—just a cold, he said, or maybe allergies. But then the bruises started showing up, dark splotches on his arms and legs that didn’t make sense. When our mom finally forced him to see a doctor, the news hit us like a wrecking ball—acute myeloid leukemia. It was aggressive, and by the time they found it, it had already spread. R.J. fought harder than anyone I’ve ever seen. He endured the chemo, the endless hospital stays, the nausea that made it impossible for him to eat. Through it all, he never stopped being my big brother. He’d still tease me, challenge me to video games from his hospital bed, and make jokes that left the nurses stifling laughter. He made it seem like he wasn’t scared, even though I knew he was. I remember the exact moment I realized he wasn’t coming home. It was late, the hospital room dimly lit except for the monitors that beeped softly in the background. I sat beside him, holding his hand, trying to memorize everything about him—his voice, his laugh, the way he always smelled like the cologne he stole from Dad’s dresser. He looked at me and said, “You’re gonna do great things, you know that?” I wanted to believe him. But when he passed away a few days later, I couldn’t imagine doing anything great ever again. Grief is a strange thing. At first, it consumed me. I couldn’t concentrate in school. I withdrew from friends. Everything felt hollow, like I was living in a world that had lost its color. But slowly—painfully—I started finding purpose in the pain. I saw how R.J. had never stopped fighting, even when the odds were against him. I realized I owed it to him to live in a way that honored his memory. Now, I push myself harder. I want to be someone he would be proud of. I’ve learned to channel my grief into perseverance, into chasing my dreams even when things feel impossible. I don’t know exactly where life will take me, but I do know one thing—I’ll carry R.J. with me every step of the way. His story didn’t get the ending it deserved. But maybe, just maybe, I can help write a better one for myself.

Losing my mom at 19 was the hardest thing I’ve ever faced. She had been my biggest cheerleader, the person who always believed in me, pushed me to chase my dreams, and reminded me that I was capable of more than I sometimes believed. When she was gone, I felt lost. But in the midst of that loss, I held onto one thing: her unwavering belief in me. Now, as I push forward in my education and career, I do so with the determination to honor her legacy. My mom was the embodiment of perseverance. No matter how difficult things got, she never let obstacles define her. She inspired me to approach life with that same mindset, and even though she’s not here to see me through this journey, I know she’d want me to keep going. School has never been easy since she passed. Some days, the weight of grief made it hard to focus, and balancing academics with the emotional toll of losing her felt impossible. I struggled through track meets without her cheering on the sidelines, through exams when I wanted nothing more than to hear her encouragement. There were nights when the stress of it all—grief, school, and trying to find a sense of normalcy—felt overwhelming. But I kept pushing, knowing that she wouldn’t want me to give up. Her support, though no longer physical, is still the foundation of my drive. She taught me to work hard, to never settle, and to keep chasing my dreams even when things get tough. Because of her, I’ve developed a relentless work ethic, knowing that success isn’t just about talent—it’s about perseverance. Even though my journey has been difficult, I refuse to let my loss define me in a negative way. Instead, I use it as motivation to move forward. My mom always encouraged me to dream big and work hard, and that’s exactly what I intend to do. Whether it’s in school, my career, or the way I support others, I want to embody the same strength and resilience that she showed every day. Moving forward, I hope to give back to others who have experienced similar hardships. I want to use my experiences to help people who feel lost after losing a parent, showing them that while grief never truly disappears, it can be transformed into something powerful. This scholarship represents more than financial aid—it represents opportunity, resilience, and the ability to turn loss into motivation. My mother’s love and support shaped the person I am today, and I will continue to honor her by working tirelessly toward my goals, just as she would have wanted.

Cancer is a word you never expect to hear in your own home, but for five and a half years, it echoed through mine. My mom—my biggest supporter, my role model, my rock—fought three separate battles with cancer before passing away in the spring of 2023 when I was 19. Losing her shattered me, and even now, I struggle to put the pieces back together. But if there’s one thing she taught me, it’s that I can’t stop moving forward. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 14. At the time, I didn’t fully understand what it meant. I knew it was serious, but I held onto the belief that everything would be fine—after all, she was my mom. Moms are supposed to be invincible. Even as she underwent surgery and chemotherapy, she still did her best to be there for me, to make sure my life felt as normal as possible. I remember coming home from cross country practice, exhausted, and she’d be sitting on the couch, smiling through her pain, asking me about my run. She always told me how proud she was, how much she loved watching me race. Two years later, just as we thought she was in the clear, the lymphoma diagnosis came. This time, the treatments were even harsher. She lost weight. Her hair thinned again. There were days when she could barely get out of bed. I started feeling the weight of it all—my focus in school wavered, and on the track, I felt slower, heavier, like my body was carrying grief I wasn’t ready to acknowledge. Still, she told me to keep going. She’d squeeze my hand and say, “You were made to chase big things. Don’t let this stop you.” When I was 18, she was diagnosed with brain cancer. That was the hardest one. By then, I had stopped hoping things would get better because, deep down, I knew. She wasn’t the same—sometimes she forgot things, sometimes she didn’t have the energy to speak at all. When she couldn’t come to my meets anymore, it felt like I was running without a finish line. And when she passed away in the spring of 2023, I completely fell apart. I wasn’t the only one. My dad was a mess. He tried to hold it together, but he just wasn’t the same without her. He went through the motions, but you could see it in his eyes—he was lost. My brother struggled too, so much that he had to get professional help just to cope. We were all drowning in our own ways, trying to navigate a world that felt empty without her in it. Losing her was like losing the foundation of our family. I struggled to care about school, about sports, about anything. I didn’t know how to be “me” without her cheering me on. Even now, I still have days when the weight of her absence is unbearable. But I also know she wouldn’t want me to stop. She always pushed me to be the best version of myself, and even though she’s gone, that hasn’t changed. So, I keep going. I push through the hard days. I work toward my goals with the same determination she always admired in me. I want to be someone she’d be proud of, someone who honors the love and lessons she left behind. Cancer took my mom, but it didn’t take the fire she lit inside me. And no matter how difficult the journey, I refuse to let it stop me from crossing every finish line ahead.

Mental health challenges have shaped my life in profound ways, making me passionate about helping others navigate their struggles. The Ethan To Memorial Scholarship offers not only the chance to pursue my dream of becoming a sport psychologist but also the opportunity to honor those who, like Ethan, faced mental health challenges with resilience. My interest in the mind began in middle school, where I first dreamed of becoming a neurosurgeon. Fascinated by the brain’s complexity, I pursued this dream for years. However, as I grew older, my desire to build a family and lead a balanced life became a priority. In my junior year of high school, I took AP Psychology, which sparked a new passion. Around the same time, I was running cross country and track, where I began to wonder if psychology could intersect with sports. This curiosity led me to discover sport psychology—a perfect combination of my interests and experiences. I aspire to work with older teenagers and adults, helping them overcome the mental barriers that often hinder athletic performance. During high school, I faced significant mental challenges while running cross country and competing as a hurdler in track. Overcoming these obstacles was far from easy. My asthma, in particular, was a constant struggle, forcing me to push through limitations that often made me feel like quitting. But with determination, I reached a point where my asthma barely affected my performance, earning praise from coaches and teammates alike. Coaching has reinforced my passion for helping athletes. I coached middle school hurdlers at my former middle school and high school hurdlers at my alma mater. These experiences were deeply rewarding, allowing me to mentor young athletes and watch them grow in both skill and confidence. The gratitude expressed by athletes, parents, and fellow coaches further solidified my desire to dedicate my career to this field. My journey hasn’t been without personal struggles. When I was 14, my mom was diagnosed with cancer. This devastating news, coupled with a challenging romantic relationship at the time, led me into a deep depression. The relationship was mentally draining and left me feeling emotionally exhausted. While the girl I was dating wasn’t a bad person, the dynamic between us was unhealthy, and it added to the overwhelming stress I was already experiencing. At times, life felt unbearable. My mom’s passing when I was 19 brought even greater challenges. I struggled to find a sense of home in church communities, juggled a demanding job with full-time school, and faced the emotional toll of helping my dad remove traces of my mom from our home to accommodate his new wife. These experiences tested my strength and mental health to their limits. Yet, through these dark moments, I found light. The unwavering support of my friends and girlfriend helped me persevere when I felt like giving up. Their encouragement reminded me of the importance of seeking and offering support during mental health struggles. This realization fuels my drive to help others, particularly athletes, find strength and resilience in their own lives. By becoming a sport psychologist, I hope to provide athletes with the tools and support to overcome their mental barriers, just as I have overcome mine. My ultimate goal is to work with professional athletes and entire teams, helping them achieve their fullest potential both on and off the field. Receiving this scholarship would enable me to continue my education and turn my ambition into reality. It would honor Ethan’s memory by allowing me to serve others who, like me, have faced mental health challenges but continue to strive for success.

Faith has been the foundation of my life and the guiding force behind my commitment to serving others. The Jim Maxwell Memorial Scholarship represents an opportunity not only to advance my education but also to carry forward a legacy of empowering youth and fostering community. My journey, shaped by moments of service, perseverance, and faith, reflects the values this scholarship seeks to honor. My journey began in middle school and high school, where I immersed myself in my church’s youth ministry. I served on the leadership team, leading worship, organizing media, and guiding small groups. Beyond the youth ministry, I volunteered with elementary school children, teaching classes and leading worship. These experiences allowed me to grow spiritually and develop leadership skills. Sundays were especially meaningful as I participated in worship services for the entire church, uniting the congregation through song and scripture. Through these roles, I discovered the profound joy of serving others and nurturing their faith journeys. However, my path was not without challenges. Following the loss of my mother, returning to my original church became emotionally difficult. In search of healing, I joined my girlfriend’s church, where I found solace in a young adult Bible study. This community provided me with the support I needed to process my grief and continue growing in my faith. Personal circumstances eventually led both of us to seek a new spiritual home, and we recently found one where we are actively building relationships. Today, I am honored to lead worship in this new church and participate in community service events that align with my passion for outreach. I am also looking forward to becoming involved in the youth ministry, continuing the work that has always been close to my heart. My commitment to faith extends beyond the walls of any one church. In high school, I was a leader in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), where I helped foster a sense of community among peers through faith-centered activities. I also became involved in Baptist Campus Ministries, which allowed me to connect with other students who shared a passion for deepening their relationship with Christ. Additionally, I joined an interdenominational group that brings individuals from diverse faith backgrounds together to learn, grow, and build unity in Christ. These experiences have broadened my understanding of faith and reinforced my belief in the power of community. Looking ahead, I am determined to use my faith as a compass to reach new heights and inspire others. This scholarship will provide not only financial support but also the encouragement to continue serving in ways that reflect Jim Maxwell’s legacy. My ultimate goal is to combine my academic pursuits with my passion for ministry, empowering young people to embrace their faith and achieve their potential. Faith has carried me through life’s challenges and guided me toward triumphs I never imagined possible. It has been the foundation of my service, the source of my resilience, and the inspiration for my dreams. Receiving this scholarship would allow me to honor Jim Maxwell’s legacy by continuing to empower others through faith, service, and unwavering dedication to community.

When Olivia Rodrigo sings, “I just want to feel something,” from her album *GUTS*, she encapsulates a profound sentiment that resonates deeply with the turbulence of adolescence. This lyric speaks to the raw, unfiltered yearning for emotional experiences that often defines teenage years—a time marked by intense highs and lows, confusion, and a relentless quest for identity. Teenage years are a period of discovery, fraught with the struggle to make sense of one's emotions and place in the world. The lyric “I just want to feel something” captures this existential longing perfectly. It reflects the desire to experience and understand the full spectrum of emotions, whether they come from relationships, personal achievements, or existential reflections. During adolescence, the intensity of feelings can be overwhelming, and there is often a craving for validation and meaningful experiences that make sense of the chaos of growing up. In my own teenage experience, this lyric resonates with moments of grappling with uncertainty and the quest for authenticity. There were times when I felt caught between wanting to fit in and yearning to stand out, seeking experiences that would define who I was amidst the shifting sands of teenage life. This quest often led to a feeling of being adrift, searching for moments that would validate my existence and provide clarity in a time of constant change. The lyric also highlights a common adolescent struggle: the desire to break free from the numbness and detachment that can accompany the pressure of societal expectations and personal insecurities. As teenagers, there is a constant battle between wanting to be true to oneself and conforming to external pressures. Rodrigo’s lyric resonates with the frustration of feeling disconnected from one’s own emotions or from the experiences that seem to matter most to peers. Moreover, the yearning to “feel something” underscores the broader theme of seeking meaning in life’s events. Adolescence is often a time when individuals start to question deeper truths about themselves and their relationships. The quest for genuine emotions and experiences is part of the process of forging one’s identity and understanding what truly matters. Rodrigo’s lyric taps into the universal desire for emotional depth and personal significance during these formative years. In essence, Olivia Rodrigo’s lyric from *GUTS* serves as a powerful reflection of the teenage experience—a time characterized by a quest for meaning, authenticity, and emotional connection. It captures the essence of adolescence, with all its struggles and triumphs, and provides a poignant reminder of the universal journey towards self-discovery and emotional fulfillment.

Selecting a favorite athlete to cheer for on Team USA is a challenging task, especially when considering the exceptional talents of Rai Benjamin, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, and Kenny Bednarek. Each of these athletes brings unique strengths and inspiring stories to the table, making it difficult to single out just one. However, after careful consideration, I've found myself particularly drawn to Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, whose remarkable achievements and perseverance make her an outstanding figure in track and field. Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone's journey in athletics is nothing short of extraordinary. At a young age, she has already redefined the possibilities in hurdling and 400 meters, showcasing a blend of speed, agility, and tactical brilliance that is rare in the sport. Her performance at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where she broke the world record in the 400-meter hurdles, was a testament to her exceptional talent and hard work. Watching her compete is an awe-inspiring experience, as she consistently pushes the boundaries of what is possible and raises the bar for future generations. What sets McLaughlin-Levrone apart is not just her athletic prowess but also her resilience and dedication. Her rise to prominence has been marked by intense training, overcoming injuries, and navigating the pressures of high-stakes competition. Her ability to maintain focus and composure under such circumstances speaks volumes about her mental fortitude and determination. Each race she runs is a display of her commitment to excellence and her unwavering belief in her abilities. Additionally, McLaughlin-Levrone's sportsmanship and humility further endear her to fans and fellow athletes alike. Despite her remarkable achievements, she remains grounded and approachable, always acknowledging the support of her team and coaches. Her graciousness in both victory and defeat is a quality that resonates deeply with me, as it reflects the true spirit of competition and personal growth. Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone’s impact extends beyond her athletic performance. She serves as a role model for young athletes, particularly women, demonstrating that with talent, perseverance, and a strong work ethic, remarkable achievements are within reach. Her success story is an inspiring example of how dedication and resilience can lead to extraordinary accomplishments. In conclusion, while Rai Benjamin, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, and Kenny Bednarek each have their own compelling reasons to be admired, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone stands out as my favorite athlete to cheer for on Team USA. Her unparalleled skill, combined with her resilience and sportsmanship, makes her a beacon of inspiration and a true representative of excellence in athletics. Watching her compete is not just a thrill but a reminder of the power of hard work, dedication, and the relentless pursuit of one's dreams.

If my year so far had a soundtrack, it would undoubtedly feature several songs from Taylor Swift's *1989 (Taylor's Version)*. This album, rich with themes of self-discovery, resilience, and reflection, mirrors the emotional journey I've experienced over the past months. Each track captures a distinct aspect of my personal narrative, encapsulating moments of triumph, introspection, and growth. One of the standout tracks for this year would be "Shake It Off." The past months have been marked by a series of challenges and unexpected changes, both professionally and personally. In facing criticism and navigating uncertainties, "Shake It Off" has become an anthem of resilience and empowerment. Its upbeat tempo and infectious energy serve as a reminder to let go of negativity and to focus on moving forward with confidence and optimism. The song’s message about embracing one’s individuality and shaking off detractors aligns perfectly with my own efforts to remain positive and assertive despite the hurdles encountered. Another song that resonates deeply with my year is "Blank Space." This track, with its exploration of new beginnings and the excitement of fresh starts, mirrors my experiences as I embark on new projects and personal goals. The song’s narrative of creating a new story, unburdened by past constraints, reflects my mindset as I navigate uncharted territory and embrace the opportunities that lie ahead. The metaphor of crafting a "blank space" where I can write my own future is both liberating and motivating. "Style" also plays a significant role in my soundtrack. The song’s themes of enduring allure and the nostalgia of past connections resonate with the ongoing reflection on relationships and personal evolution I've experienced this year. The elegance and sophistication in "Style" echo the way I've been revisiting and re-evaluating past decisions, relationships, and achievements, finding new meaning and appreciation in them. Its smooth melody and insightful lyrics underscore the importance of recognizing and embracing the unique qualities that define our journey. Lastly, "Wildest Dreams" captures the sense of adventure and aspiration that has characterized my year. The song’s dreamy, introspective quality and its focus on fleeting yet significant moments align with the experiences of pursuing ambitious goals and cherishing the journey. The balance of wistfulness and optimism in "Wildest Dreams" mirrors my own reflections on the dreams I’m chasing and the hopes I hold for the future. In sum, Taylor Swift’s *1989 (Taylor's Version)* provides a fitting soundtrack for the complexities and triumphs of my year so far. "Shake It Off," "Blank Space," "Style," and "Wildest Dreams" each contribute a distinct emotional layer to the narrative of my experiences, from overcoming challenges and embracing new beginnings to reflecting on past connections and aspiring towards future goals. These songs not only capture the essence of my journey but also serve as an inspiring reminder of the resilience, growth, and optimism that define my path forward.

If I had to choose a character from *The Office* who resonates with me the most, it would undoubtedly be Jim Halpert. His blend of dry humor, relatable frustrations, and subtle defiance against the absurdities of office life mirrors my own experiences in ways that are both amusing and insightful. Watching Jim navigate the daily grind at Dunder Mifflin has profoundly shaped my sense of humor and my perspective on workplace dynamics. Jim’s understated wit and often exasperated reactions to his office’s eccentricities are strikingly familiar. Like Jim, I find myself frequently amused by the quirks of my own workplace and the peculiarities of those around me. His iconic glances to the camera, conveying a shared understanding of the ridiculousness of certain situations, perfectly capture the unspoken camaraderie that can form among colleagues dealing with similar frustrations. His ability to maintain a sense of humor in the face of daily absurdities has encouraged me to adopt a more laid-back approach to my own workplace challenges. One of the most impactful aspects of Jim’s character is his ability to balance professionalism with personal authenticity. His relationship with Pam, built on mutual respect, genuine connection, and shared humor, underscores the importance of maintaining one's values and integrity while navigating the complexities of office life. This balance is something I strive to emulate in my own professional interactions. Jim’s approach to his job—handling it with competence while staying true to himself—serves as a reminder that it’s possible to find fulfillment and authenticity even in the most mundane tasks. *The Office* has also shaped my sense of humor, teaching me to appreciate the subtleties of everyday comedy. Jim’s pranks on Dwight, his sardonic remarks, and his knack for finding humor in otherwise dull moments have broadened my appreciation for observational comedy. This influence is evident in how I approach humor in my own life, often finding the comedy in the small, everyday absurdities that others might overlook. Furthermore, Jim’s interactions with his colleagues highlight the nuances of workplace dynamics. His respectful yet firm approach to handling difficult situations, his knack for diffusing tension with humor, and his genuine concern for his co-workers’ well-being reflect a thoughtful approach to professional relationships. This perspective has influenced how I manage my own workplace relationships, reinforcing the idea that empathy, humor, and integrity can go a long way in creating a positive work environment. In essence, Jim Halpert’s character has offered me more than just entertainment; he has provided a lens through which to view and navigate the complexities of office life. His blend of humor, authenticity, and professionalism resonates deeply with me, shaping both my approach to work and my appreciation for the comedy found in everyday situations. *The Office* has not only made me laugh but has also imparted valuable lessons about maintaining one’s sense of self amidst the chaos of professional life.

If I had to face a new supernatural threat, I wouldn’t hesitate to assemble a squad with Eleven, Dustin, and Max from *Stranger Things*—each of them brings a unique strength that would make our team unstoppable against the darkest forces. Imagining this trio in action is like conjuring the ultimate blend of psychic power, technological ingenuity, and fearless bravery, all essential for overcoming any otherworldly menace that dares to threaten us. Eleven would be my first pick, hands down. Her telekinesis and telepathic abilities make her an invaluable asset in any battle against supernatural forces. Her powers, which allow her to manipulate objects and perceive threats from afar, could neutralize dangers before they even reach us. Beyond her abilities, Eleven’s resilience and unwavering determination make her a pillar of strength in moments of crisis. Her past experiences with the Upside Down would provide crucial insight into navigating and combating the unknown threats we might face. Dustin would be the next member of my squad. His passion for technology and his inventive mind are unparalleled. As the quintessential geek with an impressive knowledge of gadgets and a knack for problem-solving, Dustin could create the tools and strategies we need to outsmart any supernatural entity. His experience with the Demogorgon and his resourcefulness with his homemade tech would be crucial for devising effective countermeasures and keeping our team one step ahead of danger. Max would complete our team with her unyielding courage and sharp instincts. Max’s bravery and street smarts, coupled with her experience in confronting the supernatural alongside her friends, make her an indispensable ally. Her ability to stay calm under pressure and her fierce loyalty to her friends would provide the emotional strength and tactical acumen needed for navigating high-stakes situations. Her dynamic with Eleven and Dustin also adds a level of interpersonal synergy that would be crucial for maintaining team cohesion. Together, Eleven’s psychic powers, Dustin’s technological prowess, and Max’s fearless determination would form an unbeatable squad. With Eleven’s ability to confront threats head-on, Dustin’s skills in creating strategies and tools, and Max’s strategic thinking and bravery, we’d be well-prepared to tackle any supernatural threat that emerges. This team’s diverse skills and deep bonds of friendship would ensure that we not only survive but triumph over the most formidable of adversaries, proving once again that unity and collaboration are the keys to overcoming even the most daunting challenges.

The thrill of cooperation and camaraderie reached its peak for me during an epic multiplayer session of *Super Mario Odyssey*, a game that has forever cemented itself as my favorite co-op experience. I still vividly remember the evening when my friends and I huddled together, controllers in hand, and dove into the whimsical world of Mario and Cappy. What started as a casual gaming night quickly transformed into an unforgettable adventure that showcased the magic of cooperative play. It was one of those rare nights when the stars aligned—everyone was in high spirits, and the excitement was palpable. As we ventured through the vibrant Kingdom of the Metro, our goal was simple yet challenging: to capture as many Power Moons as possible before our allotted time ran out. The game’s cooperative mode allowed one person to control Mario while the other took charge of Cappy, Mario’s trusty hat companion. The synergy required to master this dynamic duo was both exhilarating and rewarding. One particularly memorable moment unfolded as we navigated a tricky puzzle in the New Donk City festival. The puzzle required precise timing and coordination between Mario’s jumps and Cappy’s throws. My friend Sam, who usually struggled with timing, was assigned the role of Cappy, while I controlled Mario. The challenge was daunting: a series of platforms that would collapse after a few seconds, demanding split-second decisions and flawless execution. As we approached the final sequence, our nerves were frayed. We communicated frantically, each of us urging the other to stay focused. I remember the adrenaline surging as I leapt from platform to platform, while Sam expertly guided Cappy to hit the exact targets needed. Our voices were a cacophony of excitement and encouragement, each of us fully invested in making this moment a success. Just when it seemed like we might falter, Sam made a perfectly timed throw that allowed me to land on the final platform and grab the Power Moon. The cheers that erupted from us were deafening; it felt like we had achieved a monumental victory. That night, *Super Mario Odyssey* became more than just a game—it was a testament to the joy of working together and achieving something extraordinary through collaboration. The laughter, the high-fives, and the collective triumph of overcoming a difficult challenge created memories that have stayed with me long after the game was turned off. It was in those moments of shared success and camaraderie that I realized how co-op gaming could bring friends and family closer, transforming ordinary moments into cherished experiences. *Super Mario Odyssey* remains my top choice for co-op play because it perfectly captures the essence of teamwork and friendship. The game’s design encourages collaboration, and the memorable experiences it fosters are a testament to the power of cooperative play. Every time I pick up that game, I’m reminded of that night with friends, and I know that the bond we formed during those sessions will be a part of me forever.

She has used her platform to raise awareness and foster conversations about issues that are often stigmatized, which has encouraged me to be more open about my own experiences. Her example has shown me that it’s possible to navigate personal challenges while pursuing one’s passions, and it has empowered me to advocate for mental health and well-being in my own life and the lives of others. Ultimately, Sabrina Carpenter’s impact on me extends beyond her music and career achievements. She has become a role model, illustrating that with talent, hard work, and authenticity, it is possible to overcome adversity and make a meaningful impact. When my mother was incarcerated when I was nine years old, it felt as though the ground had been yanked from beneath my feet, leaving me stumbling through a chaotic, uncertain world. Her absence wasn't just a physical void; it permeated every facet of my young life, reshaping my understanding of stability and security. Even after her release, the shadows of that period lingered, casting long, challenging reflections on my journey. The year of her incarceration was marked by a deep, unspoken pain and a relentless struggle to piece together the fragments of my disrupted childhood. I grappled with feelings of abandonment and confusion, trying to navigate a world that suddenly seemed harsher and less forgiving. My mother’s return was meant to bring a sense of normalcy, but the scars remained. Rebuilding our relationship and adjusting to her reentry into my life were both difficult and emotional. The impact on my academic performance, social interactions, and self-esteem was profound, as I struggled to reconcile my family’s new reality with the hopes and dreams I once had. To avoid the same circumstances that affected my mother and me, I have dedicated myself to a path of resilience and proactive planning. Education has become my sanctuary, a tool I use to forge a different future for myself. I am committed to excelling academically and professionally, understanding that a solid educational foundation can open doors and provide stability. I actively seek out opportunities for personal growth, whether through extracurricular activities, mentorship programs, or community service, to build a life defined by choices rather than circumstances. Moreover, I am acutely aware of the importance of surrounding myself with a supportive network. My experiences have taught me that connection and mentorship are vital. I have sought guidance from mentors and counselors who help me navigate the challenges and provide a perspective that keeps me grounded. Their support is instrumental in helping me maintain focus and remain resilient. Self-care has become an essential part of my coping strategy. I practice mindfulness and engage in regular exercise, both of which help manage the stress and emotional turbulence stemming from my past. Journaling provides an outlet for my feelings, allowing me to process and reflect in a constructive manner. Additionally, setting aside time for activities that bring me joy and fulfillment, whether it’s spending time with friends or pursuing hobbies, helps to maintain my mental well-being and keep a sense of normalcy in my life. In confronting the challenges posed by my mother's incarceration and her subsequent reentry, I have learned the importance of resilience, proactive planning, and self-care. Each step I take towards my goals is a testament to my determination to create a different path for myself, one that is marked by stability and success. By focusing on my education, seeking support, and prioritizing self-care, I strive to ensure that my future is defined by the strength and opportunities I build, rather than by the shadows of my past.

When the conflict in Ukraine erupted, it felt like the world had shifted beneath my feet, unsettling every aspect of my life. The turmoil and uncertainty that came with it were more than just headlines on the news; they were a pervasive, relentless force shaping my reality. Living in a country not directly involved, I found myself grappling with a mix of fear, frustration, and helplessness. But amidst this chaos, I discovered a profound source of resilience within myself—my pursuit of education. The war has brought challenges that are both personal and indirect. For me, the constant bombardment of grim news and the overwhelming sense of global instability have often felt paralyzing. My academic pursuits, which were once a source of joy and motivation, now seemed overshadowed by a sense of futility. Each day, I struggled to focus on my studies while grappling with the anxiety of an unpredictable world. Yet, it is precisely this struggle that has underscored the importance of my educational goals and their potential to be a beacon of hope and empowerment. In the midst of the chaos, I have found that education is not merely a pathway to a career, but a powerful tool for personal fortitude and societal contribution. It offers a structured way to channel my fears into something constructive. By committing to my studies, I am not just working towards personal achievement but also preparing myself to make a meaningful impact. The knowledge and skills I am acquiring have become a form of resistance against the sense of powerlessness that often accompanies such global crises. Each academic milestone achieved represents a victory over the desolation that the war might otherwise impose. My education equips me with critical thinking skills, broadens my understanding of global issues, and prepares me to address the very problems that seem so daunting. It provides a framework for not just surviving but thriving, regardless of the external circumstances. The pursuit of knowledge and personal growth is my way of asserting control and building resilience. Moreover, my educational journey is not just about personal gain. It also represents a commitment to contribute positively to society. The more I learn, the more equipped I am to engage in meaningful dialogue, to contribute to solutions, and to stand in solidarity with those who are directly affected by the conflict. Education empowers me to use my voice and skills to advocate for peace, support humanitarian efforts, and work towards a more stable and just world. In the grand tapestry of life, the war in Ukraine is but one thread, albeit a significant and distressing one. Yet, through the lens of my educational aspirations, I see a path forward that is illuminated by hope and purpose. Each step I take towards achieving my goals is a testament to my resilience and a reaffirmation of my belief in a better future. Education has become my anchor amidst the storm, grounding me and providing the strength to overcome the hardships that the conflict has imposed. Ultimately, the impact of the war on my life has been profound, but it has also reinforced the transformative power of education. It is through my academic endeavors that I find the means to transcend adversity and to contribute to a world that is healing and evolving. The challenges may be great, but my commitment to learning and growth remains unwavering, ensuring that I can face the future with determination and hope.
