As a high school senior, I have been reflecting on my future and the career I want to pursue. After considering many options, I have realized that cybersecurity is the field I’m most passionate about. The world today is more connected than ever, and with that comes an increased need for protection against cyber threats. I have always been interested in technology, problem-solving, and helping others, and cybersecurity allows me to combine all of those interests while making a meaningful impact. One of the main reasons I want to pursue cybersecurity is because of the way technology is changing our lives. From smartphones to social media, almost every aspect of our lives is online now. But with this convenience, there are also many risks. People’s personal information, businesses’ financial data, and even government secrets are at risk of being stolen or corrupted. Cybersecurity professionals are the ones who fight to keep these things safe, and I think that’s incredibly important. This field is about not just stopping bad people from hacking into systems but also ensuring that everyone can safely use technology without fear of being harmed. It’s like being a protector in the digital world, and that’s a role I would love to fill. Another reason I am drawn to cybersecurity is because of my interest in social work. While at first these two fields may seem very different, they actually have a lot in common. Both cybersecurity and social work require a strong desire to help others and a deep sense of responsibility. Just as social workers help individuals and communities to improve their lives and protect their well-being, cybersecurity experts work to protect people and organizations from digital threats. In social work, you deal with people’s personal struggles, and in cybersecurity, you deal with the struggles they face in the online world. Both require problem-solving skills, empathy, and a commitment to making the world safer for others. I have also developed strong communication and analytical skills throughout high school that I believe will help me in the cybersecurity field. Whether it was working on group projects, helping classmates with problems, or organizing events, I have learned how to effectively communicate and solve complex issues. Cybersecurity is all about finding solutions to difficult problems, and I feel that my experience in these areas has prepared me for the challenges this career will present. Furthermore, I enjoy staying up to date with the latest trends in technology. I regularly read about new security threats and how experts are tackling them. This passion for learning is crucial in cybersecurity because the field is always evolving. New threats and new technologies emerge every day, and it is important to stay one step ahead to prevent harm. Just like in social work, where you need to adapt to the changing needs of the people you help, in cybersecurity, you have to constantly adapt to new challenges to protect people’s data and privacy. In conclusion, I believe that pursuing a career in cybersecurity is a great way for me to combine my passion for technology, problem-solving, and helping others. I see many connections between cybersecurity and social work, and I am excited about the idea of making a positive difference in the world through this field. With my skills, interests, and determination, I am confident that I can succeed in cybersecurity and make a meaningful impact.

I have always wanted to be someone who could leave a legacy behind. Back in grade school when I was just a little kid, my teachers would always need help fixing their computers. So, while they asked the class if anyone could help, I took charge and got up and miraculously fix it; in the moment I thought nothing of it. However, being congratulated made me feel happy and warm inside. I have always been told do what you love. Fixing people's problems and feeling accomplished is what makes me happy. Whether I build a company and am just another cybersecurity analysist. I know that what I do will change people's lives save them and make a difference. That is what matters to me and what makes an impact on my life.
