Bio

I have interest in traveling around the world and have been able to do so which is why I am also seeking interest in studying abroad in Japan. I hope to gain new ideas from different countries and after being able to have a visit with my father and getting to use Japanese that I am passionate about working on has helped me gain the confidence to do more with something I am good at. Being able to communicate with others from a different background and also being able to help my father navigate our long trip taught me I can chase my goals with determination. I want to be able to help with establishing mental health resources over there since it is still a very difficult conversation to have. I know by being able to communicate and learn new way to living could help me grow into helping start a new change. I would like to also provide assistance in the United States. I know with my background in business and certifications of management and supervisory management can lead me to creating new ways of communicating mental health.

Good Vibes Only Scholarship in Memory of C. Spoon
My name is Tyler Bard, and I am a junior at the University of Louisville, majoring in Psychology. I am a biracial student, identifying as both Black and White, and I am proud of the diverse perspectives this background brings to my life and studies. Growing up, I have always been curious about understanding people and what drives their behavior. This curiosity led me to pursue psychology, as it is a field that allows me to explore the complexities of the human mind and contribute positively to society. Studying psychology has been an eye-opening experience. It has taught me about the importance of empathy, listening, and understanding different perspectives. I have learned that mental health is a crucial aspect of overall well-being, and I am passionate about helping others lead healthier, more fulfilling lives. My goal is to become a psychologist, where I can work directly with individuals and communities to support mental health and well-being. However, pursuing higher education comes with significant financial challenges. As a college student, I have been working part-time jobs to help cover my tuition and living expenses. Balancing work and school has taught me time management and resilience, but it can also be overwhelming. The financial burden sometimes makes it difficult to focus entirely on my studies and extracurricular activities that enrich my learning experience. Receiving the Good vibes only Scholarship would be an incredible opportunity for me. It would alleviate some of the financial stress and allow me to dedicate more time and energy to my academic pursuits and personal growth. With this scholarship, I could reduce my work hours and focus more on my studies, research opportunities, and involvement in campus organizations related to psychology and mental health advocacy. Additionally, this scholarship would enable me to participate in internships and volunteer work that are crucial for gaining practical experience in my field. These opportunities are vital for building the skills and knowledge necessary to become an effective psychologist. By reducing my financial burden, the scholarship would allow me to take advantage of these experiences without the constant worry of making ends meet. I am committed to using my education to make a positive impact on others' lives. I believe as a minority we have had to go through extra hurdles and we deserve the right to equal access to mental health resources and support, and I want to be part of the solution to make that a reality. By investing in my education, you are not only supporting my personal and professional growth but also contributing to the broader mission of improving mental health care in our communities. In conclusion, the Good vibes only Scholarship would be a tremendous help in my journey towards becoming a psychologist. It would provide the financial support I need to focus on my education and gain the necessary experience to make a meaningful difference. I am grateful for the opportunity to apply and for your consideration of my application. Thank you.

      Lieba’s Legacy Scholarship
To foster the social-emotional well-being and meet the intellectual needs of gifted children, my career goals are centered around creating an inclusive and stimulating educational environment. Gifted children often require a different approach to learning due to their advanced cognitive abilities and unique social-emotional needs. By developing specialized programs that challenge their intellect, I aim to ensure that gifted children remain engaged and motivated. These programs will incorporate advanced learning materials and opportunities for creative problem-solving, allowing them to explore their full potential. One of my primary goals is to design and implement a curriculum that is both rigorous and flexible. This curriculum will include advanced coursework in subjects such as mathematics, science, and literature, as well as opportunities for independent study and research projects. By allowing gifted children to delve deeper into topics of interest, they can develop a love for learning and a sense of autonomy in their education. Additionally, I plan to incorporate interdisciplinary projects that encourage critical thinking and creativity, helping students to make connections between different fields of study. Furthermore, I believe it is essential to provide gifted children with opportunities for social interaction and emotional growth. Gifted children often face unique social challenges, such as feeling isolated or misunderstood by their peers. To address this, I plan to create support systems within the school environment, including peer support groups and mentorship programs. These initiatives will allow gifted children to connect with others who share similar experiences and interests, fostering a sense of belonging and community. Training educators to recognize and nurture the emotional needs of gifted students is another crucial aspect of my career goals. Teachers play a vital role in the development of gifted children, and it is essential that they are equipped with the knowledge and skills to support these students effectively. I plan to develop professional development programs that focus on the social-emotional needs of gifted children, as well as strategies for differentiation and enrichment in the classroom. By providing teachers with the tools they need to support gifted students, we can create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment. In addition to working within the school system, I also aim to advocate for policies and programs that support gifted education at the local, state, and national levels. This includes advocating for funding for gifted programs, as well as policies that promote the identification and support of gifted students from diverse backgrounds. By working to create a more equitable and supportive educational system, we can ensure that all gifted children have the opportunity to reach their full potential. Ultimately, my career goals are designed to create a balanced approach that not only pushes gifted children intellectually but also supports their emotional health, ensuring they grow into well-rounded individuals. By addressing both the intellectual and social-emotional needs of gifted children, we can create an educational environment that fosters their growth and development, helping them to become confident, capable, and compassionate individuals.
