I want to combine my passion for art and architecture with my technical skills in Civil Engineering to bridge the gap between functionality and aesthetics. My dream is to use this platform to repair the nation's failing infrastructure system and incorporate an artistic perspective into structural design. After completing my bachelor's degree at Villanova, I strive to earn an MBA to implement a realistic design approach into my career endeavors.

I wish to wake up the technical-focused field of engineering, to promote an artistic perspective in all engineering processes. "Artistic Engineering" will bridge the gap between lackluster engineering and cultural driven art and architecture.
The intersection between my career as a Structural Engineer and art lies within architectural design. Although an interesting approach to continuing my studies in Art, I believe that I can make a change in the engineering field. While most structural engineers solely concentrate on the practicality and functionality of their design, I will incorporate an additional level of thought into my design process. Still prioritizing safety and functionality, I want to take an artistic approach to my design, incorporating cultural and artistic meaning into my designs. Just because a design has to be robust and reliable does not mean it has to be boring and lifeless. Implementing an artistic perspective into a structural design will revive the architecture that many new-build construction projects are missing. Studying the history of art and architecture corresponding to the construction site's location should be an integral part of every Civil Engineer's design process. This design step will not only boost the aesthetic of the structure, but it will reinstate the cultural significance that all designs should embody. My goal as a Civil Engineer is to work beyond traditional technical engineering constraints, and design with an artistic and holistic process.
Currently, I am enrolled as a first-year student at Villanova University. I have declared a major in Civil Engineering, with a minor in Studio Art. With this, I wish to explore the overlap between Art and Engineering further. I want to participate in a unique Villanova study abroad program called "Augustine and Architecture in San Gimignano and Urbino, Italy." This experience would allow me to take an Italian Architecture class which explores the structural design process behind the artistic and architectural wonders of ancient Italy. It will also help me learn about the Augustinian history behind Italian architecture. Combining the technicalities of engineering with cultural and artistic design is exactly what I hope to do in my career to promote a modern take on engineering design. Participating in this study abroad experience would drastically improve my skills and experience in the overlap between Engineering and the Arts. "Artistic Engineering" is how I hope to revive the engineering field for the good, and encourage cultural and architectural significance in all engineering design.
