I first became interested in playing music the day I decided I wanted to end my life. I was truly struggling with family issues and school and lost my voice in my life. A neglectful mother, angry father, egotistical student colleagues in middle school... I had no genuine hope or reason to continue pushing forward. Then one day after school my uncle called me and said he had dropped off a cheap guitar at my home that he didn't want anymore. Stunned by the beauty that I would later come to realize is a cheap fender ripoff, I picked up the guitar and strummed a chord. From the moment I heard the vibration of that Starcaster I knew I was going to find my voice again. Ever since I've been playing music putting every ounce of my voice to ring through the strings. I want to continue to learn about music because it speaks to me. I learn theory as it teaches me different ways to express my passion. I learn performance as it teaches me how guitar speaks and how I can speak through it. I learn improv to truly feel my voice hit the strings of the guitar. I play each day finding a new way to tell the world how I feel with music, as it has become a lifestyle for me to write and perform music. It's my dream to tour the world playing music in a band, I idolize players for being able to pour their heart out like Freddy Green, Django Reinhardt, and Pat Metheny. There's nothing that would warm my heart than to spread the community and passion music brings to others all around the world. After graduating from Berklee College of Music I would then go and take a band and write music so the whole world can know the story, passion, and love from players all around the globe. I always see myself incorporating jazz into my future. I have always thought the idea of mixing metal music with jazz has been inspiring. No matter what day in what country, I believe the soul of jazz can always be heard within the soul. Jazz teaches the soul of emotions people feel to heavy to carry alone. It's our job not only as jazz cats, but musicians to use our gift to enlighten the soul and help others around the world. Having felt my own hardships, I understand the gift music can bring to people is a necessary good in a world filled with so much evil.
