My mother has diabetes, arthritis and Asperger‘s which really affects her life, being overweight she struggles to do simple tasks and often needs my help. She is the strongest person I know and means the world to me, I try my best to try and get her to eat healthier but she doesn’t listen much I want to become and nurse so I have credibility and maybe then she will take my word but also because I suffered from a seizure and passed out on my way home from school and was in the hospital for around 3 days nonstop many nurses kept me company assisted me in my recovery and showed great compassion towards me a stranger. Following this I went on to my senior year and took my favorite class physiology and I loved it everything about the human body was so interesting to be and when a nurse came into our class talking about her career and helping those who need help and might be to scared to ask for it, it really enlightened me on the toll it is to be a nurse and inspired my career choice before this I was a kid who hated school since elementary school but all of a sudden it was a huge passion to be able to study for my nursings license and be able to help someone and be there for them as there was for me. Another reason is my dads gout on his foot he has extreme pains but refuses to go to the hospital as he is Latino and was raised in Mexico his cultural taught him that he doesn’t need hospitals and that they just try and get you more sick. I truly believe in my heart that I can change the way he thinks about hospitals if he sees his son as a nurse working in one. This passion is driven by my love for my family desire to help others and my own personal growth I can’t mention how many times people asked me what I wanted to do with my life and until not too long ago my answer was “ I don’t know” because seriously nothing interested me I didn’t have a passion for anything let alone had a interest in school it simply felt like a chore but ever since that nurse came into my class she inspired me and I now have big goals in mind for my future to help not only my family but those who were like me, vulnerable.
