My name is Tristan Black. I am 17 years old and a senior at Camp Verde High School. I was born and raised in Camp Verde, which is a small town located between Flagstaff and Phoenix in Arizona. My parents relocated here before we were born because they believed in raising children in a small-town environment where it is country living, a lot of history, neighbors helping neighbors, and for the most part, people are friendly. I have gone to school for 12 years at my school district and I am graduating ranked 19th in my class. I have had a lifelong struggle with ADHD and have had years of counseling, and medication and I have an IEP. I know that I will be limited in my career path but have spent years in STEM and Robotics during summer school, and those programs capture my attention, and I am passionate about Science and Engineering. My mother is a volunteer at the local food bank and has always taught me how important it is to give back to your community. My father is an educator and teaches high schoolers Construction Trades to give them skills that they can use when they get out of high school. Our community encourages children to get educated and remain a part of our small town, contributing and making it a better place. That is why I have applied and been accepted to Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona. I will be taking Electrical Engineering for the next 4 years. Embry Riddle is a private University with an excellent reputation, and because of that, I am applying for scholarships because I am trying to offset my tuition. I plan to be employed when I graduate as an aeronautical electric engineer and be participating in programs run by Nasa and other large cyber companies. Being a part of Wrestling for the past 8 years has taught me to be accountable, for my health and well-being, to be devoted, and competitive, it has brought me leadership possibilities, and great satisfaction.
