Hello! I'm a student at Grand Valley State University & Frederik Meijer Honors College, majoring in Journalism, Broadcasting, and Digital Media with a minor in Advertising and Public Relations. I am working hard to graduate a year early with a three year plan I devised with multiple advisors!
I am planning on getting married in 2025, so graduating debt free is my top priority!
I am a hardworking candidate that makes every penny count from my investors, because I am confident in my ability to complete my goals and plans.
Despite the world pandemic shutting down my sophomore year, I was lucky enough to have in-person school for my last two years. I maintained a cut throat drive even during my senior year. I was not going to let “senioritis” take over my life. Being in person for my last two years of school gave me the chance to impact my community by leading by example through sports, theater, National Honor Society, and the school news channel.
A little bit about the National Honor Society: I was able to use my position as president of my school’s National Honor Society to update old programs and install new opportunities in my school. I was lucky enough to be part of a team that brought back Powderpuff, which brought in a lot of money for the school and improved school participation. I also initiated a new opportunity for future generations of seniors to buy and paint school parking spots. We were also able to revive an old event called Little Spartans Night in the form of a carnival to reunite the community of Sparta.

I Can Do Anything Scholarship
The dream version of my future self is a passionate individual who brings fun into her career, devotion to her family, undying support for her spouse, service to her community, and courage to persist through the toughest life trials.
Jeannine Schroeder Women in Public Service Memorial Scholarship
One important social issue that has always been close to my heart is inequality. Growing up, I witnessed the impact that economic and social disparities can have on individuals and communities, and I have been determined to make a difference ever since. I believe that everyone deserves equal opportunities and access to resources, regardless of their background. I have never settled for the "life is unfair" statement, because I have hope and work for more justice in the world.
To address this issue, I have taken several steps in my personal and professional life. In my community, I volunteered throughout high school at non-profits that work towards providing resources and support to underprivileged individuals and families. This has given me a first-hand understanding of the challenges that people face and has inspired me to work harder toward making a positive impact.
In my academic pursuits, I am studying multimedia journalism and advertising and public relations, with the goal of using my skills and platform to raise awareness about issues of inequality and social justice. In high school, I have been actively involved in student media organizations, and have worked on several projects that aim to bring attention to important issues. As I become more involved with my new community at my current university, I plan to become just as involved as I was during high school. Additionally, during high school I spoke on public concerns as a news anchor for my school's news channel. I believe that journalism has the power to bring about change, and I am committed to using it to make a difference in the world.
Furthermore, I am also pursuing a minor in advertising and public relations, which will provide me with a unique set of skills to help promote and raise awareness about causes that matter. I aim to use these skills to work with organizations and businesses that are dedicated to promoting equality and creating positive change.
As I learn about different programs offered at my university, I have applied to the Peter C. Cook Leadership Academy. I discovered that the academy offers various resources on developing leadership and public speaking. My goal is to enhance my skills in these areas to add to my plan on addressing social issues effectively.
In conclusion, addressing inequality is a lifelong commitment for me, and I am determined to make a positive impact through my personal and professional endeavors. I believe that by working together, we can create a more just and equitable world for all.
Maverick Grill and Saloon Scholarship
My unwavering commitment to my goals and my passion for success is evident in the meticulous planning that I put into every aspect of my life. I have taken the time to fully research and analyze my options and have validated my three-year plan to graduate early from Grand Valley State University with multiple advisors. This plan includes carefully mapping out my academic and extracurricular pursuits to ensure that I am on track to reach my goals.
In addition to my strong planning and research skills, I am confident in my ability to rely on them in my future career as a multimedia journalist and an advertising and public relations professional. I understand the importance of having a solid plan in place to guide me towards my goals, and I am fully committed to putting in the effort to make it a reality. My passion for journalism and my drive to succeed will be invaluable assets as I work towards making a positive impact through my work.
Despite my youth, I understand that there are many challenges that come with pursuing a career in journalism. However, I am grateful for the opportunities that have come my way through my dedication to my studies and hard work. My professors have recognized my potential and have given me the opportunity to take advanced classes, which I am humbly grateful for. I feel fortunate to have been offered an internship in advertising for the summer, and I hope to use this experience to further improve my skills. I recognize that I have much to learn, and I am eager to use my education and future career to make a positive impact on the small business community in my area. I see this as a chance to give back and make a difference in the lives of others.
I plan to additionally give back to my community by becoming a news anchor who provides a voice for those stories that may not be commonly heard. During high school, I was taught how to harness journalism mediums through my school's news channel and learned how to impact my community. I was able to create public service announcements with my own news segments called "Feisty Fridays". I have been inspired since then and have been actively pursuing on bringing my high school news anchor position to life as my dream career.
My goal is to bring a unique perspective to the newsroom and to shed light on stories that often go untold. I believe that everyone's voice deserves to be heard and that it is my duty as a journalist to bring those voices to the forefront. I am passionate about using my platform to bring attention to important issues and to give a voice to the marginalized communities that are often neglected by mainstream media. Additionally, I aim to bring positive change to the news industry by promoting empathy and understanding through my reporting. By doing so, I hope to create a more informed and connected community.
