I come from a single-parent household and am currently in my third year at Georgia Gwinnett College, studying Political Science with a concentration in International Relations. Growing up, my family called me a “mini activist” or “Senator Trinity” because I was always speaking openly about politics and global events happening around the world. Even as a young girl, I cared very deeply about the injustices I saw, although I didn't yet understand how I could help change them. I remember watching the news and seeing stories about young girls being denied an education, women struggling to access healthcare, and families living in places where their lives were threatened by violence. I often felt guilty knowing that while I could go to school and sleep safely at night, others were fighting for things I had always known. I didn't grow up with a lot of money or very fancy items, but I didn't have to worry about bombs dropping, where my next meal would come from, or finding a job at a young age to help my mother. As I got older, I began to understand that privilege isn't always about how much money you have. Sometimes, it's about the things you never even thought of having to fear. That helped lead me to international relations and inspired my dream of becoming an international human rights lawyer. I want to stand up for people whose voices have been ignored, whose rights have been violated, and whose opportunities have been taken away. I hope to advocate for women, children, and vulnerable communities while working toward a world where everyone can live with dignity, freedom, and hope. However, my desire to serve others goes beyond my future career. In high school, I discovered my love for philanthropy through volunteering with my theater and Thespian club. I helped organize proms and a graduation celebration for individuals with special needs, hosted a prom for senior citizens, supported an elementary school musical, and taught third graders about theater. These experiences showed me that sometimes, making a difference begins with something as simple as showing up and making someone feel seen, valued, and included. In the future, I hope to establish foundations and charities that reflect the causes closest to my heart. I would love to create a breast cancer foundation in honor of my late aunt, who passed away from breast cancer in January of this year. I'd also hope to establish a foundation dedicated to improving healthcare for women and children, especially those who still lack access to the care they deserve. And lastly, I dream of creating a center for fine arts and humanities where young people can discover their talents and find opportunities to grow. My greatest hope is to build a life’s work that serves others with courage and compassion. When I'm old and grey, I want to look back at my life and hope that I left more than just a title behind. I want to leave an inspiring and impactful legacy behind. This scholarship would help me further my education as I prep for law school and move closer to turning my dreams into reality. One day, I hope to look back and know that the opportunities I received helped me create the life I want to lead, and opportunities for others. From what I learned over the past twenty years is that success isn't simply about how far I go, but also how many people I helped along the way.
