Animal care and welfare are essential pillars of conservation efforts, especially as many species face the threat of extinction. Conservation is about more than protecting habitats—it requires ensuring that individual animals receive proper care, protection, and respect so they can survive and thrive. When animals are healthy and well-cared for, endangered populations have a better chance to recover, ecosystems remain balanced, and we help prevent the irreversible loss of wildlife. Learning about how animals go extinct has inspired me to take action and find ways to protect both the animals and the environments they depend on. I have always been fascinated by wildlife and the natural world. Growing up, I developed a strong bond with animals, especially my dog Benji, who was more than a pet; he was a loyal friend and companion. That connection taught me how important it is to care for animals physically and emotionally. I want to take this passion further by becoming a veterinarian and using my education in business and psychology to contribute to wildlife conservation and animal welfare. My goal is to combine veterinary care with business knowledge to create or manage clinics and rehabilitation centers focused on helping both domestic animals and wildlife. Proper animal welfare includes medical treatment, mental well-being, and humane care, all of which are crucial to conservation. I believe that holistic care; addressing both the physical and emotional needs of animals; can significantly improve their chances of survival and successful reintegration into their natural habitats. Additionally, I want to work closely with conservation organizations and local communities that protect endangered species and their habitats to develop sustainable strategies that balance animal health, environmental preservation, and community engagement. By integrating education, resource management, and innovative care practices, I hope to build programs that not only treat animals but also promote awareness and long-term stewardship of the ecosystems they depend on. Understanding how animals become extinct motivates me to explore innovative ways to help the environment. I believe that protecting wildlife requires a holistic approach that includes education, community involvement, and effective resource management. By promoting awareness about animal welfare and conservation, I hope to inspire others to join efforts to preserve biodiversity and protect vulnerable species from disappearing forever. Ultimately, I see animal care as a vital part of environmental stewardship. By fostering empathy and responsibility toward all living creatures, we can build a future where wildlife is valued and conserved. With the right skills, knowledge, and resources, I am committed to contributing to this future; protecting animals, supporting ecosystems, and helping ensure that the beauty and diversity of our planet endure for generations to come. I am determined to be part of this global effort, dedicating my career to making a meaningful and lasting difference for animals and the environment.

In the future, I want to build a career as a business analyst, using my skills in problem-solving, creativity, and data to help organizations grow and make smarter decisions. I am passionate about finding innovative solutions that improve efficiency and create positive change, especially for businesses that serve underserved communities. My goal is to combine my business interdisciplinary studies and psychology background to better understand people’s needs and behaviors, so I can help companies develop strategies that truly make a difference. I believe that through this career, I can contribute to economic growth and create opportunities for others who face challenges similar to those I have overcome. Being Black means resilience, strength, and a rich history of overcoming adversity. It means honoring the sacrifices and achievements of those who came before me and continuing to push forward with pride and purpose. It means embracing my identity fully and using it as a source of motivation to succeed and uplift others. I chose to attend an HBCU because I wanted to be part of a community that celebrates Black culture and provides a supportive environment to thrive academically and personally. Alabama State University has given me a space where I feel empowered to grow and lead. Attending an HBCU reminds me daily of the importance of representation and inspires me to use my education and future career to create positive change in my community and beyond.

My name is Trinity Mitchell, and I am currently a student-athlete at Alabama State University majoring in Business Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Psychology. As an incoming junior, I’ve experienced both the blessings of growth and the weight of hardship; but through it all, my heart has remained full of purpose. My ultimate dream is to become a veterinarian and open my own clinic, combining my business education with my lifelong passion for animals. I want to create a space where animals are treated with compassion, and their families feel supported and understood. Growing up, I always felt a special connection with animals, stronger than the connection I often felt with people. Animals have a way of seeing you for who you are, of loving you without expectation or judgment. I learned that early on through my bond with my dog, Benji. He passed away recently, and losing him left a hole in my heart that no words could fully describe. Benji wasn’t just a pet; he was my comfort, my peace, and my best friend. We communicated without speaking, through eye contact and energy. It was a bond that showed me how deep and healing our relationships with animals can be. That relationship is what drives me to pursue veterinary care; not just as a career, but as a calling. My journey hasn’t been easy. My family and I are currently living out of a hotel, and while these circumstances have been challenging, they’ve also shaped me into someone who is deeply resilient, empathetic, and driven. My mother works hard every day to provide what she can for us, and it’s her strength that motivates me to never give up. I want to earn my degree not only to create a better life for myself, but to pour everything I accomplish back into her. She deserves rest, recognition, and relief, and I’m determined to give that to her. I also believe in service; giving back even when you don’t have much to offer. In high school, I joined a culinary class where the food we prepared was donated to the homeless. I also led a team bonding project with my volleyball team, creating food and hygiene bags for unhoused individuals in downtown Atlanta. Those experiences taught me the power of compassion and action, and they continue to guide how I show up for others. Through my studies, I plan to blend business knowledge with veterinary science to open a clinic that’s rooted in care, community, and equity. I want to use my career to be a voice for the voiceless, both animals and people, and to be living proof that your circumstances don’t define your future. With the help of this scholarship, I know I can turn my vision into reality and make a lasting impact on the world around me.

From a young age, I’ve always felt a deeper connection with animals than with people. Animals don’t judge, and they don’t need words to show love or understanding. They simply feel; and I feel with them. That connection has stayed with me my entire life and is the foundation of why I want to use my degree to become a veterinarian. I’m currently studying Business Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Psychology at Alabama State University. While business may seem like an unexpected route for veterinary work, I’ve chosen this path because I believe a strong understanding of business will allow me to one day own and operate my own veterinary clinic. I want to do more than just care for animals; I want to build a space where animals are treated with love and dignity, where their families feel supported, and where my passion meets purpose. Losing my dog, Benji, recently was one of the hardest things I’ve ever gone through. He wasn’t just a pet; he was my best friend, my comfort, and my peace during life’s chaos. We had a bond that words could never fully explain. It was like we could speak to each other without ever making a sound; our eyes did all the talking. No matter what I was going through, he was always there, offering love without condition. That kind of bond can’t be replaced, but it can be honored. And that’s what I want to do for the rest of my life: honor animals like Benji by dedicating myself to their care. Being less fortunate has shaped me into someone who values life deeply; especially the lives that are often overlooked or misunderstood. I’ve lived through challenges that taught me resilience, compassion, and empathy. Those same qualities are what I want to bring into my future as a vet. I want to help animals who can’t speak for themselves and support the families who love them just as much as I loved mine. This dream is more than a career choice; it’s a lifelong calling rooted in love, loss, and the unspoken bond I’ve always shared with animals. With my degree and the support of opportunities like this scholarship, I hope to turn that calling into a reality; one where I can give back to the voiceless, care for the most vulnerable, and create a space of healing and trust for both pets and their families. I do this for Benji, who gave me comfort when I had no words; for every animal that deserves compassion and care; and for the little girl who always felt more seen and understood by animals than anyone else, and who now dreams of being their voice and protector.

My name is Trinity Mitchell, and I am a Business Interdisciplinary Studies major with a minor in Psychology at Alabama State University. As a student-athlete and first-generation college student currently facing financial hardship, I’ve learned how to lead, adapt, and communicate in ways that directly reflect what it takes to succeed in the world of sales and marketing. My passion for this field doesn’t come from a textbook; it comes from real-life experience, resourcefulness, and a deep desire to connect with people and make an impact. Growing up with limited resources, I quickly learned how to be creative. I didn’t have the newest toys or gadgets, so I learned how to take what I had and turn it into something useful. That mindset; finding solutions, thinking outside the box, and making things work; translates perfectly into sales and marketing. I’ve always had an eye for presentation, storytelling, and understanding what motivates people. My minor in Psychology helps me dive deeper into human behavior, while my business courses sharpen my understanding of branding, strategy, and communication. What inspires me most to pursue a career in sales and marketing is my desire to uplift others through connection and creativity. I’ve seen firsthand how powerful a message can be when it speaks to someone’s needs, struggles, or dreams. Whether it was leading a service project to help the homeless in downtown Atlanta or participating in a high school culinary class that cooked meals for those in need, I’ve always been drawn to work that connects with people emotionally and meaningfully. Being a student-athlete has also prepared me for the demands of this field. It’s taught me the importance of confidence, consistency, and resilience; all essential qualities in marketing and sales. I’m excited by the challenge of promoting ideas, products, and services that can truly make people’s lives better. Most importantly, I want to use my career to create opportunities for others. I want to work with brands and organizations that stand for something, that support their communities, and that give voices to people who are often overlooked; just like I’ve been. In the end, sales and marketing are more than just career paths for me; they are powerful tools I plan to use to inspire, uplift, and create meaningful change. I see every campaign, every message, and every interaction as an opportunity to tell a story that matters. With this scholarship, I’ll be one step closer to turning my passion into a profession that not only supports my family but also gives back to the communities that shaped me. I’m ready to lead, to grow, and to make an impact; and I’m grateful for the chance to pursue that dream.

Hello, my name is Trinity Mitchell, and I am currently a student-athlete at Alabama State University. I’m an incoming junior majoring in Business Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Psychology. My academic focus reflects my passion for understanding people and helping organizations grow through strategy, creativity, and innovation. My long-term goal is to become a business analyst who uses data and insight to support businesses; especially those that serve underrepresented communities. This scholarship would make a significant difference in my academic journey. Right now, my family and I are living in a hotel due to financial hardship. My mother works tirelessly to provide for us, and despite our circumstances, she continues to show strength, resilience, and unconditional love. She inspires me every single day to keep going, to dream bigger, and to work harder. Receiving this scholarship would not only ease the financial strain on my family, but it would also allow me to continue my education with more focus and stability. It would give me room to breathe, study, train, and pursue my goals without being overwhelmed by the financial burden. Being less fortunate growing up shaped me into a more driven, compassionate, and creative person. I learned how to make the most of what I had and find purpose in service. In high school, I participated in a culinary class where we prepared meals for the homeless. Even though I didn’t have much to give, I was always eager to help, whether by chopping vegetables, cooking, or distributing food. That class taught me the importance of community and service. Later, as a volleyball player, I led a service project with my team where we made hygiene and food kits for people living on the streets of downtown Atlanta. Those moments helped me understand that even small acts of kindness can have a big impact, and that helping others will always be part of who I am. This scholarship isn’t just financial support for school. It’s an investment in my future, my family, and the purpose I’ve built for myself. I plan to use my degree to give back; to pour my success into my mother, and into communities that deserve the same chance to rise.

My name is Trinity Mitchell, and I am a proud student-athlete at Alabama State University. I’m an incoming junior majoring in Business Interdisciplinary Studies, with a goal of becoming a business analyst. Volleyball has been a major part of my life since I was eight years old, and being a student-athlete has taught me valuable life skills like discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. Right now, my family and I are living out of a hotel. Despite our difficult circumstances, I’ve remained focused on my education and athletic goals. My mother is the strongest woman I know. She works incredibly hard every single day to provide what she can for me and my siblings. Watching her push through hardship with love and determination is what drives me. I want to use my education and career to give back to her. Everything I do, I do with the intention of making life better for her, because she deserves peace, stability, and recognition for all she’s done. Growing up with limited resources taught me to be creative. I didn’t always have the newest toys or technology, so I learned how to make the most out of what I had. That creativity turned into a strength I now use in school, sports, and life. As a future business analyst, I want to apply those skills in a professional setting; helping companies find innovative solutions, improve operations, and make a meaningful difference in the communities they serve. My long-term goal is to use my platform and career to support underserved communities and create opportunities for others like me. This scholarship would be life-changing. It would ease the financial stress on me and my family and allow me to stay focused on what truly matters; my growth, my education, and my mission. Being able to continue my college journey without the constant weight of financial strain would mean everything. Giving back has always been important to me. In high school, I took a culinary class where the meals we cooked were donated to people experiencing homelessness. I wasn’t always able to give much, but I showed up and fought to help in any way I could; whether it was prepping ingredients, helping distribute food, or simply offering a smile. I also led a service project with my volleyball team where we made and handed out food and hygiene kits downtown. These moments, though small, were powerful. Being less fortunate didn’t make me bitter; it made me grateful, empathetic, and passionate about helping others. I believe those experiences continue to shape the person I am and the woman I am becoming.

My name is Trinity Mitchell, and I am a Business Interdisciplinary Studies major with a minor in Psychology at Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama. I chose to attend Alabama State not only because of its strong academic foundation, but because of the city’s deep roots in the civil rights movement. The Montgomery Bus Boycott, led by powerful leaders like Rosa Parks and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., was a turning point in history. To study in a place where people stood up against injustice gives me a daily reminder that I, too, have a responsibility to create change; especially for Black women like me. Growing up, I witnessed firsthand how systemic inequality limits opportunities for Black women and girls. I saw how poverty, trauma, and lack of access to support could hold people back. That experience gave me both empathy and fire. It’s why I am passionate about using my degree to help break those barriers. With my background in business, I plan to build and lead an organization dedicated to the empowerment, healing, and success of BIPOC women, particularly those who have experienced domestic violence, poverty, or systemic neglect. My interdisciplinary studies allow me to combine knowledge in entrepreneurship, leadership, and social impact, while my psychology minor equips me to understand trauma, healing, and human behavior. I envision opening a community-based center that offers mental health counseling, financial literacy education, career development, mentorship, and wellness programming. It will serve as both a safe haven and a launchpad helping women not just survive, but thrive. I also plan to incorporate mentorship programs where young girls can learn from professional Black women who reflect their dreams and potential. Beyond my own organization, I will engage in community activism, lead outreach programs, and collaborate with local and national initiatives that support equity and justice for Black women. I believe that true change happens when we lift others as we climb. My purpose is to be that source of light and opportunity for women who are too often left in the shadows. I am not pursuing this path for recognition. I am pursuing it because it’s my calling. My education is not just a personal achievement; it is a tool I will use to fight for those who have been silenced, overlooked, or forgotten. I am fully committed to building a future where Black women are not only supported, but celebrated, where their voices are heard, their dreams are nurtured, and their lives are valued. Every step I take in my academic and professional journey is rooted in purpose, and I will not stop until I’ve made a lasting impact.

Hello, my name is Trinity Mitchell, and I attend Alabama State University. Charity is deeply personal to me because I know what it’s like to grow up with less. I grew up watching my parents struggle, often going without things others took for granted. As a child, it hurt to see classmates with more opportunities, whether it was access to tutoring, safe environments, or extracurricular activities. It was even harder knowing that so many kids around me were left behind simply due to circumstances they couldn't control. These experiences shaped my heart and inspired my purpose. I believe charity is not just about giving money, it’s about showing up with time, care, and compassion. It’s about lifting people up when they feel invisible. That’s what I want to do for others. As a student majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Psychology, I am learning how to approach problems from multiple angles, especially when it comes to emotional and community wellness. My goal is to support underserved youth and families, particularly those affected by poverty, trauma, and domestic violence; by creating safe spaces where they feel seen, supported, and empowered. In the future, I plan to open an organization that offers mental health services, educational support, wellness programs, and sports clinics. I also want to use my experience as a student-athlete to mentor youth through sports, showing them that someone believes in them. Giving back is my passion—and my promise to the community that raised me.

Hello, my name is Trinity Mitchell. I'm currently a student at the Alabama State University. As an Interdisciplinary Studies major with a minor in Psychology and a student-athlete, I believe that creating a positive environmental impact starts with how we take care of people physically, mentally, and emotionally. Over the next five years, I plan to focus on wellness as a tool for empowerment in both local and global communities. Particularly for underserved youth and families. My experience as a volleyball player has taught me discipline, teamwork, and the importance of physical wellness. But it also showed me how sports can build self-esteem and mental resilience especially for young people who may be facing difficult circumstances. In the next few years, I plan to use my skills in volleyball to start a free or low-cost wellness program for children in underserved communities, especially those impacted by trauma or poverty. Through clinics, mentoring, and workshops, I want to help kids learn how movement, sports, and community support can improve not just their health, but their overall sense of hope and purpose. In addition to wellness through athletics, I plan to use my academic background to promote mental and emotional wellness. My psychology studies have helped me understand how trauma, stress, and lack of resources can affect how people care for themselves and their environment. I want to create spaces both in-person and online where people can access tools for emotional healing and self-care. When people feel well, they are more likely to take care of their surroundings, families, and communities. On a global scale, I also see wellness as a form of environmental justice. My long-term vision is to partner with organizations focused on clean water, sustainable food access, and youth empowerment in developing regions. I want to bring together what I’ve learned in school, in sports, and in life to connect wellness with sustainability reminding others that caring for the environment starts with caring for ourselves and each other. In the further future, I will open my own organization dedicated to providing holistic support and opportunity to families and children affected by trauma, poverty, and violence. My organization will combine wellness through sports, emotional healing, educational resources, and career development. It will serve as a safe space and launchpad for change helping people rebuild and realize their worth while contributing to healthier communities and environments. Whether locally or globally, my mission is to create impact through compassion, movement, and meaningful connection, because when people thrive, the environment around them does too.

My name is Trinity Mitchell. I grew up with both of my parents. They were my true example as the perfect couple. When I was 12 years old, my life changed in a way I could have never expected. My father lost his job, and with that loss came depression, anger, and eventually, alcohol. He used to be a loving man, but as the drinking worsened, he became someone I didn’t recognize. The home I once felt safe in became unpredictable and terrifying. My mother became the target of his pain. What started as yelling turned into pushing. Then, it became hitting. I remember so many nights lying in my bed, covering my ears, trying to block out the sound of things breaking and my mother crying. One night when I was 16, things went too far. He came home extremely drunk this night. As I heard him enter I watched from the stairs worried for my mother. I watched as he accused my mother of being cocky. Saying that she thought she was better than him cause she had a job and he didn't. He began punching and kicking her till she bled. I cried thinking of something to do in fear of what he would've done to me. He opened the fridge and grabbed another beer. As he finished the bottle, he broke it off on my mother. She had cuts all over her face. In that moment I couldn't take it any more. I ran down the stair grabbed the bat we had in our closet and hit him across the head. I knocked him down and he looked at me with so much anger but he didn't put his hands on me. I didn't understand why he could hurt my mother and not me. As laid on the floor I helped my mom get up and drove her to the hospital. He had broken her jaw, ribs, and cut her cheek open. That was the night we didn't return home. We left with nothing. Just ourselves. That experience still lives with me, but it also fuels me. It taught me what survival looks like. It taught me that silence can be deadly and that support systems save lives. My grandfather took us in and showed us the love that we've been missing. Now, as a business interdisciplinary studies major with a minor in psychology, I am determined to use my education to help others who feel trapped the way my mother and I once did. My goal is to create a company that not only brings awareness to domestic violence but offers real, accessible resources to women and children—especially in African American communities where support and culturally competent care are often lacking. I plan to focus on improving communication and coordination between shelters, counselors, legal services, and schools so no family slips through the cracks. I want to use what I’ve learned—both in school and in life—to design systems that are built around compassion, trust, and empowerment. I want to help families rebuild. Most of all, I want to be visible. I want other young girls who feel powerless to see someone who made it out, got an education, and turned pain into purpose. My story may have started in fear, but it will end in strength—and in service to others who need it most.

My name is Trinity Mitchell. I am an upcoming junior majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in business and psychology, and I’m also a student-athlete. Balancing athletics and academics has taught me discipline, resilience, and the importance of showing up not just for myself, but for others. I’ve come to realize that being consistent, kind, and grounded; even when no one asks me to, can have a powerful ripple effect. What makes me different is my quiet leadership. I’m not the loudest voice in the room, but I lead through action. Whether on the field, in class, or in my community, I carry myself in a way that reflects respect, positivity, and encouragement. Over time, I’ve learned that people notice how you move through the world. Sometimes, you’re making a difference to someone you don’t even know is watching. One example that stands out happened during a food pantry volunteer shift over winter break. I was helping distribute groceries when a mother and her young son came in. They looked tired and cold. As I handed them a bag with cereal, the boy smiled and thanked me. It was a small moment, but it stuck with me. I realized that even simple kindness offering help without expecting anything in return can have a lasting impact. You never know the struggle of others but they go on with a smile and it brings me joy. In addition to volunteering at the food pantry, I’ve also helped organize community clean-up events and mentored younger students through school outreach programs. I mainly help younger kids learn how to play volleyball. most schools don't provide many sports due to finances. Me and my mother rent our local churches gym and offer free volleyball training. As a student-athlete, I know younger kids often look up to us, so I try to be intentional with how I carry myself on and off the field. Whether I’m encouraging a teammate after a loss or staying behind to help clean up after an event, I know someone might be watching and learning. These moments remind me that you don’t need a big title or a loud voice to be a leader. You just need to show up with heart, consistency, and purpose. I use my empathy, work ethic, and love for service to quietly support others because sometimes the most meaningful impact is the one you make without even realizing it.

There was a moment last winter that changed how I see my role in the world. I volunteered at a local food pantry in my neighborhood, something I started doing when I came home for winter break. What started as a way to earn a few service hours became something much deeper. One day, a woman and her young son came in near closing time. They were quiet and looked cold. As I helped pack their bags with essentials, the little boy smiled at me and said, “Thank you for the cereal.” It was such a small moment, but it stuck with me. Then, I realized how even small acts of kindness can have a lasting impact. That day I saw resilience. The people who came to the pantry weren’t giving up. They were showing up, doing their best for their families. And the volunteers, many of whom had once needed help themselves, were now paying it forward. That sense of mutual support gave me hope that no matter how divided or difficult the world may seem, communities can still come together. Being part of that team taught me that connection doesn’t require grand gestures; just care, time, and consistency. It shaped my belief that change starts small, with people helping people. It made me want to keep giving back, not because it looks good on a resume, but because it makes me feel part of something real. That experience didn't just make me hopeful for the future and it made me want to help shape it.

I am currently a sophomore at Alabama State University, where I play volleyball and continue to pursue my academic goals. I've had a deep passion for volleyball ever since I was five years old, and the game has taught me valuable lessons in teamwork, perseverance, and dedication. It's not just a sport to me—it's been a way to grow, stay disciplined, and challenge myself both physically and mentally. Outside of volleyball, I find peace and relaxation in coloring, which helps me stay grounded amidst the demands of college life. I also enjoy helping people and have a special love for animals, which motivates me to seek ways to contribute positively to my community and the world. Growing up in a family where financial resources have often been limited, I’ve learned the importance of resilience and resourcefulness. I live with my single mom and my brother, and while we face financial challenges, my mom has always been my biggest supporter. Despite the struggles, she has made sure that we have what we need, and her unwavering determination to provide for our family has shaped my character and work ethic. Her example has taught me the importance of perseverance, and it motivates me to work hard every day to create opportunities for myself and those around me. Before transferring to Alabama State University in the spring, I attended Norfolk State University, where I maintained a 3.2 GPA while balancing my academic responsibilities and playing volleyball. I also graduated from Alpharetta High School with a 3.3 GPA, and took dual enrollment courses to get a head start on my college education. I am committed to my studies and believe that education is the key to creating lasting change in my life and in my community. Looking toward the future, I am passionate about finding a career where I can give back to others. Whether through working with underserved communities, helping animals, or contributing to environmental and social causes, I want to make a meaningful impact. I plan to use my education and experiences to contribute to causes that are important to me, and I am especially driven to help people who are in situations similar to mine—those who may not have all the resources they need but still have the potential to succeed. Additionally, after college, I hope to travel the world, learn from different cultures, and bring back knowledge and experiences that will help me make an even greater difference in my community. I am determined to use my platform, my education, and my love for helping others to create positive change, both on a local and global scale. Through compassion, hard work, and dedication, I believe I can be a force for good in the world.

I am currently a sophomore at Alabama State University, where I play volleyball. I have loved the game of volleyball ever since I started playing at the age of five. It has always been a hobby that has brought me both joy and a sense of discipline. The competitive spirit, teamwork, and dedication that the sport requires have shaped me in so many ways, and being part of a team continues to be a source of strength and motivation for me. In addition to volleyball, I find peace and relaxation in coloring. It's something I do whenever I need to unwind, helping me stay balanced. I also enjoy helping others and have a strong love for animals, which is something I hope to incorporate into my future career and life goals. I come from a family that is supportive and loving, though we face financial difficulties. It’s just my mom, my brother, and me. While we don't have much, we manage to get by. I am passionate about contributing to the well-being of those around me, and I hope to use my experiences and education to do so. After college, I also dream of traveling the world, gaining new perspectives, and expanding my horizons. I love to try new foods. Traveling will also let me explore different cultures while enjoying a meal. I believe that through service and exploration, I can continue to grow as both an individual and a global citizen.

The Significance of Attending an HBCU For me, attending an HBCU signifies empowerment, legacy, and the celebration of diversity. It's a beacon of opportunity and representation—a platform where I can thrive academically, culturally, and socially. Here, I feel an unparalleled sense of belonging and pride in contributing to a community that values my voice and aspirations. Charting a Transformative Course Becoming the first doctor in my family's lineage is a milestone that extends far beyond personal achievement. It's an endeavor that embodies the spirit of breaking generational barriers and reshaping narratives. The journey toward earning a doctorate in veterinary medicine is not solely about acquiring knowledge; it's about leveraging that knowledge to create meaningful impact and open doors for others. My dream of establishing a veterinary practice isn't merely a career ambition—it's a platform for service and advocacy. Through this practice, I envision a sanctuary where the well-being of animals is intertwined with community outreach and education. It's a space where I'll offer affordable services, provide educational workshops, and actively engage with local schools to foster an appreciation for animal welfare and veterinary science. Throughout my journey of self-discovery and career aspirations, a woman who has profoundly impacted and supported me is my mother. Her unwavering encouragement and support have been a guiding light, especially during a pivotal moment in my educational pursuit. I vividly recall the moment when I expressed to my mother my desire to become a doctor focusing on women's health. Her immediate response was not just one of mere acknowledgment but an active and profound effort to nurture this aspiration. In an effort to provide me with a firsthand experience, she arranged for me to shadow one of her clients, an obstetrician/gynecologist (OB/GYN), for a day. Witnessing the compassionate care and expertise with which the OB/GYN handled her patients left an indelible impression on my young mind. It was a transformative experience that solidified my passion for helping women in the field of medicine. My mother's support extended far beyond that single day. She recognized my enthusiasm and eagerness to learn more about gynecology. To fuel my interest, she went above and beyond, procuring books and resources on gynecology, allowing me to delve deeper into the subject matter. Her actions were not merely gestures of encouragement but a testament to her unwavering belief in my dreams and her determination to facilitate my educational growth. However, as life often unfolds, my aspirations shifted. I found my calling in a different field—veterinary medicine. When I shared this change of heart with my mother, I expected disappointment or confusion. Yet, her response was far from that. Instead, she embraced my decision wholeheartedly, emphasizing her continued support regardless of the chosen path. Her unconditional encouragement was a pillar of strength during this transition, affirming that her support transcended the specific career choice. My mother stood as my beacon of support, my ultimate cheerleader. She epitomizes the essence of unconditional support and encouragement, and for that, I am forever grateful.

The pursuit of a business degree in preparation for opening a veterinary practice is a compelling journey intertwining passion for animal care with entrepreneurial ambition. The choice to embark on this educational path stems from a deeply rooted desire to amalgamate two seemingly distinct realms – the compassion-driven world of veterinary medicine and the strategic landscape of business management. Firstly, a business degree provides a foundational understanding of key principles essential for running a successful veterinary practice. The intricate skills learned through this program encompass financial management, marketing strategies, human resources, and operational logistics, all crucial elements for steering a veterinary practice toward sustainability and growth. The amalgamation of veterinary medicine and business acumen forms the cornerstone of a vision to establish a veterinary practice that not only offers exceptional animal care but also operates efficiently as a sustainable enterprise. The goal is to cultivate a thriving ecosystem where the well-being of animals harmoniously coexists with the business's financial health. Moreover, the pursuit of a business degree aligns with the aspiration to make a profound and lasting impact on the local community. Education plays a pivotal role in empowerment, and by leveraging the knowledge gained from the business degree, plans extend beyond the confines of the veterinary practice. One significant avenue of community impact involves organizing business classes and seminars tailored for high school students. These sessions aim to introduce budding minds to the intersection of veterinary medicine and business. By illuminating the possibilities within this hybrid field, students gain insight into a career path that blends their passion for animal care with entrepreneurial aspirations. The sessions not only educate but also inspire and ignite aspirations in the hearts of young individuals, fostering the next generation of animal-loving entrepreneurs. Additionally, offering internships at the veterinary practice becomes a conduit for practical learning and experiential education. The internship program provides students with hands-on exposure to the day-to-day operations of a veterinary clinic. Through mentorship and guidance, interns develop a comprehensive understanding of the intricate balance between veterinary care and business management. These experiences serve as stepping stones, nurturing the skills and passion necessary to pursue careers in the veterinary field. The overarching vision extends beyond the walls of the veterinary practice and educational initiatives. It aspires to foster a culture of compassion, education, and entrepreneurship within the community. By encouraging young minds to explore unconventional career paths that combine their passions, the objective is to spark innovation, nurture talent, and cultivate a community where both animals and aspiring entrepreneurs thrive. In conclusion, the pursuit of a business degree in tandem with opening a veterinary practice embodies a multifaceted commitment – a commitment to excellence in animal care, a commitment to strategic business management, and, above all, a commitment to fostering a community of compassionate and empowered individuals. Through education, mentorship, and the synergistic convergence of veterinary medicine and business, the journey endeavors to leave an enduring and transformative impact on the community, shaping futures and elevating the standards of both animal care and entrepreneurial spirit.

Promoting financial literacy within a community is a crucial step towards empowering individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to make informed financial decisions. As a passionate advocate for financial education, I have devised a comprehensive plan to educate my community through beginner-friendly finance classes, youth groups, mentorship, and highlighting the significance of credit. To begin, I envision hosting beginner-friendly finance classes that break down complex financial concepts into accessible and understandable information. These classes will cover topics such as budgeting, saving, investing, and debt management. By using relatable examples and interactive activities, participants will gain practical insights that they can immediately apply to their personal finances. Tailoring the content to address real-life situations will foster engagement and make financial literacy more approachable. Engaging with the youth is paramount for building a financially literate future. I plan to collaborate with local schools and community centers to establish youth groups dedicated to financial education. These groups will provide a platform for open discussions about money matters, introduce basic concepts through fun games, and inspire young minds to develop healthy financial habits from an early age. By instilling financial awareness in our youth, we are equipping them with tools that can significantly impact their financial well-being as adults. Mentorship is a powerful way to guide individuals on their financial journeys. As part of my community outreach, I will encourage experienced professionals to volunteer as financial mentors. These mentors will work closely with individuals who seek guidance, offering personalized advice and strategies tailored to their unique financial circumstances. This one-on-one approach not only imparts knowledge but also instills confidence and fosters a supportive network within the community. Undoubtedly, understanding the importance of credit is crucial in today's financial landscape. To shed light on this critical aspect, I will organize workshops and seminars dedicated to explaining the intricacies of credit, its role in financial decisions, and how to maintain a healthy credit score. These sessions will emphasize the impact of credit on obtaining loans, securing housing, and even job opportunities. By demystifying credit, individuals will be empowered to make credit-related choices that positively influence their financial futures. In conclusion, my community education plan focuses on a multifaceted approach to enhance financial literacy. Through beginner-friendly finance classes, youth groups, mentorship opportunities, and educating about credit's importance, we aim to create a community where individuals possess the knowledge and confidence to make informed financial decisions. By nurturing a generation equipped with strong financial acumen, we are taking a significant step towards building a prosperous and secure future for our community as a whole.

Being an 'up-stander' goes beyond simply observing and acknowledging injustices; it involves taking action to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Throughout my journey, I have embraced the role of an up-stander by standing up against bullying, offering assistance to the homeless, and participating in community-driven initiatives. These experiences have shaped my commitment to using my voice and actions to build a stronger and more compassionate community. During my senior year, I witnessed the harmful effects of bullying on my peers. Rather than remaining a passive bystander, I chose to become an up-stander. I stood up in defense of those being bullied, offering support and solidarity. By speaking out against bullying and creating a safe space for victims to share their experiences, I aimed to promote empathy and understanding among my peers. I firmly believe that creating a culture of respect and kindness can transform a school environment and positively impact the lives of countless individuals. Beyond the school walls, I extended my efforts to those in need within the broader community. In downtown Atlanta, I organized efforts to provide hygiene kits to the homeless. The experience of interacting with individuals facing homelessness taught me the power of compassion and empathy. Volunteering at the Hosea Feeds the Homeless drive amplified my commitment to making a tangible impact. It reinforced my belief that even small acts of kindness can alleviate suffering and foster hope. Looking ahead, I am committed to leveraging my voice and actions to bring about positive change within my community. Advocating for the less fortunate remains a central pillar of my mission. I am dedicated to raising awareness about the challenges faced by marginalized individuals and advocating for policies that address their needs. My goal is to be a voice for those who may not have the platform to speak for themselves. Moreover, I am passionate about providing useful resources to underserved youth. By offering mentorship, guidance, and access to educational tools, I hope to empower young individuals to pursue their dreams regardless of their circumstances. Through education, I believe we can break the cycle of poverty and open doors to brighter futures. Additionally, I aspire to be a big sister and mentor in the business world. Aspiring entrepreneurs and young professionals often face daunting challenges. Volunteering has been a life-changing experience for me. Through various volunteer opportunities, I have come to realize the importance of empathy and understanding in our daily interactions with others. It has made me realize that everyone has a story and that we should never judge someone based on our assumptions. Volunteering has helped me develop my empathy skills. It has given me the opportunity to interact with people from all walks of life, including the less fortunate, marginalized, and vulnerable members of our society. I have volunteered at local food banks, homeless shelters, and community centers, where I have had the chance to listen to people's stories and understand their struggles. One of my most memorable experiences was volunteering at a local soup kitchen during the holidays. I had the opportunity to meet people who were homeless and had no family to spend the holidays with. As I served them food, I could see the gratitude and appreciation in their eyes. It was a humbling experience that taught me the importance of showing kindness and compassion to others. Through volunteering, I have also learned that everyone has a story. We often make assumptions about people based on their appearance, background, or social status. However, getting to know people and listening to their stories has made me realize that everyone has their own unique experiences and struggles. It has taught me to approach people with an open mind and to never judge someone based on my assumptions. Furthermore, volunteering has made me realize the importance of giving back to the community. It has given me a sense of purpose and fulfillment to know that I am making a positive impact on someone's life. I am in need of this scholarship as it will help alleviate the financial burden that my family is facing. I am determined to pursue higher education as it will provide me with the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue my career goals and make a positive impact on society. Without financial assistance, it would be challenging for me to afford tuition, books, and other academic expenses. It would help me achieve my academic and career aspirations and allow me to give back to the community in meaningful ways. In conclusion, volunteering has had a significant impact on my mindset and has taught me valuable life lessons. Being accountable means admitting your mistakes, learning from them, and working hard to make things right. This mentality has helped me in my personal and professional life, as I strive to take ownership of my actions and work hard to achieve my goals. Finally, volleyball has taught me about perseverance. No matter how good you are, you will face challenges and setbacks in sports and in life. The key is to keep pushing forward, even when things get tough. Personally, I have had indirect and direct experiences with gun violence, which have motivated me to advocate for reducing gun violence and bringing awareness to this critical issue. As a student who recently decided to attend a Historically Black College or University (HBCU), I am excited to share why I chose to attend an institution that is steeped in rich cultural history and academic excellence. One of the main reasons I chose to attend an HBCU is because of the inclusivity that these institutions offer. HBCUs were founded to provide educational opportunities to Black students who were not allowed to attend predominantly White institutions. As a result, HBCUs have created a unique environment that is inclusive, diverse, and culturally rich. At an HBCU, I feel that I can be myself without the fear of judgment or discrimination. The sense of community and belonging that I have found at my HBCU is unparalleled, and it has helped me to feel confident and comfortable in my own skin. I chose to attend an HBCU because of the educational excellence that is offered at these institutions. HBCUs have a long history of producing successful graduates who go on to make significant contributions in their fields. In addition, the supportive and nurturing environment that is provided at HBCUs has allowed me to develop my critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which I know will be valuable in any career that I pursue. As an 18-year-old volleyball player and animal lover, I have a deep passion for making a positive impact on the world through my future veterinary career. My love for animals, especially dogs, has been a defining characteristic throughout my life. Growing up, I had a dog named Benji who was my constant companion and best friend. My experiences with Benji inspired me to pursue a career in veterinary medicine, as I wanted to help other animals and their owners in the same way that Benji had helped me. My plan to make a positive impact on the world through my veterinary career is multifaceted. First and foremost, I want to provide high-quality and compassionate veterinary care to animals of all kinds. This means staying up to date with the latest medical advancements and techniques, as well as treating each animal with the same level of care and attention that I would want for my own pet. In addition to providing veterinary care, I also plan to use my skills and knowledge to help educate others about the importance of responsible pet ownership and animal welfare. This includes teaching pet owners about proper nutrition, exercise, and healthcare, as well as advocating for policies and practices that protect the wellbeing of animals. By educating the public and promoting responsible pet ownership, I hope to reduce the number of animals that end up in shelters or are mistreated due to neglect or abuse. Another way that I plan to make a positive impact on the world through my veterinary career is by creating volunteer opportunities for underserved youth in my community. Growing up, I was fortunate enough to have access to resources and opportunities that helped me pursue my passion for animals. However, I know that not all young people have the same access to these resources. By creating volunteer positions for underserved youth to train in the field of veterinary medicine, I hope to provide them with valuable experience and mentorship that will help them pursue their own passions and career goals. Finally, I plan to use my veterinary career to give back to my community in a variety of ways. This includes providing pro bono or low-cost veterinary services to those in need, as well as participating in local animal welfare initiatives and events. I believe that it is important to use my skills and knowledge to help others, whether it is through providing medical care to animals or volunteering my time to support community efforts. In conclusion, my love for animals and passion for veterinary medicine has inspired me to pursue a career that will allow me to make a positive impact on the world. Through providing high-quality veterinary care, educating others about responsible pet ownership and animal welfare, creating volunteer opportunities for underserved youth, and giving back to my community, I hope to use my skills and knowledge to make a difference in the lives of animals and people alike.

Growing up in a single-parent home with limited resources was not easy. However, it taught me resilience, self-reliance, and the importance of hard work. Despite facing many obstacles and challenges, I was able to overcome adversity and achieve my goals. One of the biggest challenges of growing up in a single-parent home was financial insecurity. My mother worked long hours to support our family, but her income was barely enough to cover our basic needs. We often had to rely on government assistance and charity to make ends meet. This meant that I had to learn how to be resourceful and frugal from a young age. I learned how to stretch a dollar, how to cook and clean, and how to shop for bargains. I also learned the value of education and hard work as a means of improving our situation. I excelled in school, earned scholarships and awards, and eventually went on to college. Another challenge of growing up in a single-parent home was the lack of a father figure. My mother did her best to provide for us emotionally and mentally, but she was often busy and stressed. I had to learn how to be independent, self-sufficient, and responsible for my own actions. I also had to learn how to seek out positive role models and mentors in my community. I found inspiration and guidance in my teachers, coaches, and community leaders who encouraged me to pursue my dreams and goals. Despite the challenges of growing up in a single-parent home, I was able to find strength and resilience in my faith, family, and community. I learned to value the support and encouragement of others, and to give back in whatever ways I could. I volunteered at local charities and community events, mentored younger students, and participated in various leadership and service programs. These experiences helped me develop empathy, compassion, and a sense of purpose. As I reflect on my journey, I realize that the adversity I faced in my life has shaped me into the person I am today. It has taught me to be grateful for what I have, to persevere through difficult times, and to never give up on my dreams. It has also taught me to be humble, compassionate and to use my experiences to inspire and empower others who may be facing similar challenges. In conclusion, growing up in a single-parent home with limited resources was not easy, but it taught me many valuable lessons. It taught me resilience, self-reliance, and the importance of hard work. It taught me to value education, seek out positive role models, and give back to my community. Most importantly, it taught me that no matter what challenges we face in life, we have the strength and resilience to overcome them if we believe in ourselves and never give up on our dreams.

Core values are the guiding principles that shape our beliefs, attitudes, and actions. For me, trust, honesty, commitment, and humanitarianism are the core values that guide my personal and professional life. In this essay, I will explain why these values are important to me and how I apply them to my civic engagement work, academic studies, and relationships. Trust is the foundation of any healthy relationship, whether it is a personal or professional one. Without trust, there can be no meaningful communication, cooperation, or collaboration. Trust requires honesty, transparency, and accountability, and it is earned over time through consistent actions and words. I believe that trust is essential for building strong communities, promoting social justice, and fostering mutual respect and understanding. In my civic engagement work, I apply the value of trust by being reliable, transparent, and accountable. I strive to keep my commitments and follow through on my promises, and I am open and honest about my intentions, goals, and limitations. By building trust with my colleagues, partners, and stakeholders, I can work more effectively towards our common goals and make a positive impact on our community. Honesty is another core value that I hold dear. Honesty is about being truthful, sincere, and authentic, even when it is difficult or unpopular. Honesty requires courage, integrity, and empathy, and it is the cornerstone of personal and professional ethics. I believe that honesty is essential for building meaningful relationships, fostering mutual trust and respect, and promoting social justice and human rights. In my academic studies, I apply the value of honesty by conducting thorough research, citing my sources accurately, and presenting my ideas and arguments clearly and objectively. I also apply the value of honesty in my relationships by being truthful and authentic, even when it is uncomfortable or inconvenient. By being honest with myself and others, I can build trust, credibility, and integrity, and promote ethical behavior and values. Commitment is the third core value that I cherish. Commitment is about being dedicated, determined, and perseverant in the pursuit of one's goals and aspirations. Commitment requires focus, resilience, and discipline, and it is the driving force behind personal and professional growth and development. I believe that commitment is essential for achieving meaningful success, making a positive impact on society, and fulfilling one's potential. In my civic engagement work, I apply the value of commitment by being dedicated and perseverant in my efforts to promote social justice, human rights, and environmental sustainability. I am willing to put in the time, effort, and resources needed to achieve our goals, and I am not deterred by setbacks, challenges, or obstacles. By being committed to our shared vision and mission, I can inspire others to join our cause and make a lasting difference in our community. Finally, humanitarianism is the fourth core value that defines my identity and purpose. Humanitarianism requires compassion, respect, and dignity, and it is the driving force behind social justice and human rights activism. I believe that humanitarianism is essential for creating a more just, equitable, and compassionate world, where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and fulfill their potential. In my relationships, I apply the value of humanitarianism by showing compassion, empathy, and respect to others, especially those who are struggling or marginalized. I listen to their stories, learn from their experiences, and support them in their journey toward healing and empowerment. In my academic studies, I apply the value of humanitarianism by learning about the social, economic, and political factors that contribute to inequality and injustice, and by exploring ways to address these issues through policy, and advocacy.

As an animal lover and entrepreneur at heart, I have always had a passion for creating a business that not only provides a valuable service but also gives back to the community. After careful consideration and research, I have decided to start a business in the field of veterinary services in an urban community. My goal is not only to provide high-quality veterinary care but to also create volunteer positions for underserved youth to train in the field and educate them about animal care. One of the main reasons I chose to focus on veterinary services is because of the increasing need for animal care in urban areas. As more and more people move into cities, there is a growing demand for veterinary care, but not enough qualified professionals to provide it. By starting a veterinary business in an urban community, I can help meet this need while also providing opportunities for young people to gain valuable experience in the field. In addition to providing volunteer positions, I also plan to offer full internships and create jobs for the community. This will not only help to provide valuable employment opportunities but will also help to address the issue of underemployment in urban areas. By providing quality jobs and training, I hope to help improve the economic situation in the community. As someone with experience in the field of veterinary services, I know how important it is to share knowledge and skills to make a positive impact. That is why I plan to tutor and/or mentor young people who are interested in pursuing a career in veterinary medicine. By sharing my expertise, I hope to help these young people achieve their dreams and contribute to the community in a meaningful way. In addition to one-on-one mentoring and tutoring, I also plan to teach workshops on specific topics related to veterinary care. This could include anything from basic animal care to more advanced topics like surgical procedures or animal behavior. By offering these workshops, I hope to not only educate young people but also to help promote animal welfare in the community. Another way I plan to share my knowledge and skills is by creating educational content online. This could include blog posts, videos, or online courses that provide information about veterinary care and animal welfare. By making this content accessible online, I hope to reach a wider audience and provide valuable information to those who might not have access to it otherwise. Overall, my goal is to create a business that not only provides high-quality veterinary services but also gives back to the community. By providing volunteer positions, internships, and jobs for underserved youth, I hope to help improve the economic situation in the community while also promoting animal welfare. Through mentoring, tutoring, and educational content, I hope to share my knowledge and skills to make a positive impact on the community as a whole. I am excited about this opportunity to use my skills and expertise to make a meaningful difference in the world.
