Hi! Trinity here, but you can call me Trin! Some of my life goals are to develop my passion into a career so I can live comfortably, travel outside of the US, achieve my fitness goals, and learn French. My absolute main goal is to learn as much about cooking and baking as I can. You never ever know everything, and I definitely want to be knowledgeable in as much as I can. I am very passionate about my artwork, cooking, and chemistry. I will be the first person in my family to go to college Of course, we all know that college isn't cheap. School is stressful enough without having to worry about money on top of that. If I could attend my desired university, it would help me expand my knowledge further. My mother has done so much for me that I'd love to take the stress of paying for college from her. I'm a great candidate because I want to further my education in the culinary arts, and I would utilize the prize to the fullest extent. Im interested in a culinary career because of my lovely mother, when she would make ribs, cornbread, and okra I never felt so loved and happy. She inspired me to dabble in the culinary arts, since I was around 5 I started creating dishes, or at least trying too. If you consider raw oats and milk a dish then you would love my cooking! Although throughout the years I have improved so much, I’ve bought numerous cook books trying to recreate all my favorite sweet and savory dishes. Each time I made these I improved. I want to give that same comfortable, happy feeling to my community. I want to create a sense of community for an area that may not have it. I would give my community by using my culinary skills to donate food to soup kitchens and shelters, providing nutritious meals to those in need. Along with this I would eventually like to mentor and teach culinary skills to young people, providing them with the training to become a proper chef. I would love to accomplish all of my ambitions! Literacy has benefited me and my life by giving me an outlet for my creativity and thoughts. Picture books have impacted my life by giving me ideas for my own children's books if I decide to pursue that. I hope to become a successful part of children's books whether it is drawing for the books or writing stories. This award will be a big part of helping me get there and a part of the money I need to apply to different opportunities. This money could help with the supplies for books, art supplies, paper, and advertising. The money would be extremely helpful in creating' many many many more opportunities for me. Ever since I was a little girl I've loved to read and write. My mother has always loved poetry especially and made sure to pass that passion on over to me. Along with reading and writing I have also loved illustrating different concepts whether it was for different art competitions or just for gifts for my family members and friends to see the happy look on their faces after seeing what I had made just for them. As minor as people think children's books are they really are a major part of a child's education. It gives them a visual on the things they are learning about something that helps them understand the world around them in a better way and will help them with visualizing different types of concepts in the future and so on. I really do want to make my mark in this community and spread my writing and illustrations to kids of America. Little black girls seeing girls who look like them nowadays makes my heart melt, they never got to see themselves as princesses or heroes or anything but the villain in picture books. I want to completely change that; my books would show all kids and how they can be anything they want if they work hard enough. I want to encourage them to push forward and chase after their dreams and not to settle for the back seat. With your help I could do amazing things and encourage so many young minds to be passionate and fearless. We need more of that and why not teach it to them young? Knowing that there is a community here for what I want to do encourages me more, all I need is your help!
