Hello!
My name is Trinidad Gonzales -- I am a 31-year-old gay, Hispanic man living in Seattle, Washington.
I am currently attending Tacoma Community College, where I have enrolled into my second year of the Information Technology and Cybersecurity program.
After my graduation from High School in 2009, I immediately set off from home and worked minimum-waged jobs to support my independence. After working for eight years in a Pharmaceutical Retail environment, I left my position as a Pharmacy Assistant from Walgreens and decided to focus my time and effort by investing into my education.
Working at the start of the pandemic was difficult and alienating. As an essential worker my time spent outside of work was in isolation out of fear of spreading the virus. This time gave me the perspective I needed to make the decision to transition back into college.
Outside of school, I love to read and learn about modern computer technologies as well as more humanistic studies of Cultural Anthropology. Discovering projects that fuse the two studies, like the Endangered Languages Project, absolutely fascinate me!
While I am still a novice in the subject of Information Technology, I am motivated by learning more about cyber security, security hygiene, and network infrastructure – I look forward to applying my knowledge in future employment and expanding my experience working in the field.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page.

One of my biggest regrets in life was not taking my education more seriously. After my graduation from High School in 2009, I had not really thought of college as a tangible goal for myself -- I generally had little ambition and low self-esteem. I managed to stay afloat for nearly ten years on my own; I know what it's like to budget $3.25 for a family-sized can of ravioli and a loaf of French bread to feed myself for the day. I know what it is like to plan my week around visiting food banks and the delivery day at discount bakeries for nearly expired goods.
I spent a long while working a minimum waged job and learned incredibly hard lessons in life that all pointed at the value of earning an education. $1,000 dollars means that I can afford my ADHD medications or having the extra money to buy a new pair of prescription glasses. Even as I work to earn myself a better future, the necessities of life are ever mounting -- I have persevered through many financial hardships, the last year and a half on the dean's list serves as a constant affirmation to myself that earning a degree is truly what I want out of life.
I think for many people, including myself, $1,000 dollars can mean the difference between struggling and security, even if just for a semester.
