FinalistBio
My name is Trenton Ohnemus, and I’m a student-athlete graduating from Soldotna High School in 2025. I play varsity baseball and football, and I’ve learned to balance both sports while maintaining a strong academic focus. On the baseball field, I pitch and play center field. I throw a fastball up to 90 mph with a sharp breaking ball, and I’m known for my control and ability to compete under pressure. One of my best performances was a 14-strikeout, no-hit outing in 2025. I also play quarterback and defensive back in football, which has strengthened my leadership and teamwork.
In the summer, I play American Legion baseball with Kenai Post 20. In 2024, I pitched 4 scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts in a state tournament game, and carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning of a midseason tournament—experiences that have pushed me to grow as a competitor.
Off the field, I live with my mom and my younger brother, Grayson. My father passed away when I was a freshmen, and that loss has motivated me to be a role model and work hard for my family. I plan to study electrical or civil engineering in college. I take a full course load of honors and AP classes and am focused on improving my test scores. I’m committed to both academics and athletics and excited to take the next step in my journey.

My name is Trenton Ohnemus, and I’m a senior at Soldotna High School in Alaska. I’m a student-athlete with a passion for baseball, football, and engineering, and I live with my mom and younger brother, Grayson. My father passed away when I was young, and that loss has shaped my sense of responsibility and purpose. It’s driven me to work hard not only for myself but for my family, to be someone my brother can look up to and my mom can count on.
Sports have been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember. As a pitcher and center fielder for the Soldotna High baseball team, I’ve been fortunate to play a role in multiple Division II state championships. On the field, I’ve developed a strong work ethic, learned how to stay calm under pressure, and gained confidence in my ability to lead by example. One of the most meaningful moments in my athletic journey was a 14-strikeout, no-hit performance during the 2025 season. I learned that success doesn’t come from talent alone, but from preparation, discipline, and believing in yourself even when the stakes are high.
In the summers, I play for Kenai Post 20 in the American Legion league. Competing at that level pushed me to improve, especially when I pitched four scoreless innings with ten strikeouts in a state tournament game. I also carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning in a midseason matchup—experiences that taught me the value of composure, perseverance, and staying focused in high-pressure moments. Being surrounded by older teammates and stronger competition has helped me grow mentally and physically.
Football has also played a huge role in shaping who I am. As a quarterback and defensive back, I’ve learned what it means to be accountable, to make quick decisions, and to support a team in both success and failure. Sports have taught me how to lead, how to listen, and how to keep pushing forward even when things don’t go as planned.
Off the field, I challenge myself academically with honors and AP courses, and I plan to major in electrical or civil engineering in college. I enjoy problem-solving and working with my hands, and I’m motivated to build a future where I can create solutions that help people and make an impact. Balancing sports and school has helped me develop time management, focus, and self-discipline—skills that I know will carry me into college and beyond.
Throughout my life, my mom has been my greatest role model. She works incredibly hard to support our family, and her strength inspires me to never give up. I want to set an example for my younger brother and show him that even when life is difficult, we can rise above it by working hard, staying humble, and doing the right thing.
Sports have taught me resilience, leadership, and the importance of character. They’ve helped me discover who I am and who I want to become. As I move forward, I plan to carry these lessons with me—not just in athletics, but in academics, relationships, and whatever career I pursue. I know that with determination, a strong foundation, and the support of those who believe in me, I can reach my goals and make a meaningful difference.
