John Geremia Memorial Industrial Trades Scholarship
I plan to attend Garden City Community College and study as a 21st-century John Deere diesel technician for the next two years. I hope to pass both years with flying colors. I want to become one of the highest-paid diesel technicians employed by 21st Century John Deere. I am the class president for the class of 2025 coming out of Fowler High School in Fowler, Colorado. I have to take initiative when I schedule my classmates for this program we have called Split the Pot. I must ensure my classmates are on time and in the right location. I award them with credits for our class senior seminar. This next week we have a huge league tournament with a few teams. I am expected to schedule eight different people for two days on two different days. This will consume a lot of my time, but I am prepared to lead this execution. During football season I was a manager for the team I had a team of junior high kids that were trusted to listen and trust me. We would prepare all the gear for practice, such as footballs, tees, water, and practice jerseys. It's never easy to take charge or initiative for anything. You may not have the courage to do so. In many leader-follower relationships, the follower or followers are scared to take charge and fear all the pressure on their shoulders. In my experience, I like the pressure it sends something to my brain that makes me feel happy to lead the charge. No matter what it may be, I bask in the hardship of the stress. One thing I think about is there is always a way out or a way to find the answer to the problem. I do understand not everyone can stand the pressure but in my personal experience, I have lived in it my entire life. When my brother and I were younger we had to travel back and forth from each of our parents ' houses it was hard on him and I would help him get through his thoughts and then take care of myself. I usually take care of the people I love before myself. I believe I would be the best candidate for this scholarship, so chose me. I will honor John Geremia's memory with all the passion I have.
Ben Bonner Memorial Scholarship
WinnerI am pursuing agricultural diesel mechanics through 21st Century John Deere. I will attend Garden City Community College in Garden City, Kansas to pursue an associate degree. I am passionate about this career because I love working with my hands. As well as problem solving, with this career I can enjoy both things. I have always been so authenticated with how machines work and function. I grew up loving the tractor brand John Deere, something about the dark green. I was offered an opportunity by the Aftermarket Location Manager in Rocky Ford, Co. Of course I scooped up the opportunity and ran with it. I understand this career will not be a cakewalk, I plan to work my tail off and pass both years with flying colors. I plan on coming back to Colorado to fix and update my community's farming equipment. My official title would be Field Technician. So with that said I will go all around my community and fix the problems that others and machines will create for me. Going all around the valley, the valley consists of Eight separate towns. Of course Rocky Ford, Fowler, Manzanola, Swink, La Junta, Ordway, Crowley, and Onlysprings. With my friends and family's support, I hope to succeed and only do great things. I grew up respecting the trades and what they do. Without them, nothing would be built and nothing would get fixed as well as we would not have most of the luxuries that we have now. With this scholarship, it will help me achieve my dreams and help my community. I have made it this far attempting to make my mother and my brother proud of me. Not only am I doing this for them I am doing it for myself. To show all the people that said I am unable to see this career all the way through that I can. I hope to show BJ the Aftermarket Location Manager that he did not waste his time coming out looking for me and that his decision will not be for nothing. My community deserves nothing but the best work and honesty. I will be straightforward with all customers and friends to the dealership. If I were to win this scholarship I plan to honor Ben Bonnor's Memory. His memory deserves to be honored correctly and with the winner's chest and dreams held high, and I believe I am capable of doing so.
John Young 'Pursue Your Passion' Scholarship
I choose to pursue the career of a farm equipment diesel technician for 21st-century John Deere. I am passionate about working with my hands as well as working with my brain to find the answer to a problem. I chose this career because it will allow me to work with my hands and test my problem-solving skills. Ever since I was a little kid I have wondered how machines functioned and how to fix them and possibly make them better. Whether that be finding an alternative fuel and or power source. I hope to find an alternative fuel for John Deere tractors to make it to where they do not let much pollution out into the atmosphere. With my help as a diesel technician, I believe I may find a way to change something in the engines of the John Deere tractors. I believe that there is always an answer to any problem or question that can come about. I plan to find the problem, ask questions, and find the most efficient way to figure out said problem. With all the help of my friends and family to stand by my side I hope to go far in this profession. One of the huge goals I have entering the field of work is to become one of the highest-paid technicians. With this mindset and determination, I will push myself to do the best I can with every step. John Deere is my future, I want to do great things in this company. No, I am not planning on doing all of this work for an ata boy. I am doing this to prove the people who said I could not finish it wrong. During the summer of 2024, I was asked by the Location aftermarket manager of 21st century John Deere in Rocky Ford, CO if I would like to take a two-year course on diesel mechanics at Garden City Community College in Garden City, Kansas. As stated before this opportunity I have received has meant more to me than anyone will ever know. I desire the chance to work my way up the ladder, to always do what is asked of me in a timely manner, and do a great job at whatever it may be. This will take a lot of patience and a can-do attitude. In some places, I may succeed, and in others, I may fall, but to have the strength and courage to get back up and try again. I hope to use this scholarship to help me pay for this two-year college. After I have graduated, 21st Century will reimburse me for the money that I have used to pay for this college. I hope to have the funds to pursue this two-year college head-on as well as to pass with flying colors. This scholarship will help me achieve my goals and dreams. So consider me for this scholarship, so I may help in any way possible.
