I always had an overactive imagination and would constantly think outside the box when presented with something, so in my head I would have several ideas and daydreams without really an outlet to let those ideas just go out. However one day in kindergarten or 1st grade I got this book called Captain Underpants and since then I loved to read and I would read every book that would come out of the series. The very first ever idea for a career that I had was inspired by Captain Underpants, I couldn't draw very well but my best friend at the time could draw so inspired by Captain Underpants we both planned to make a comic book series where I would write the story and he would draw the pictures. Over time I decided to drift more and more into one specific genre, fantasy adventure. My mind would just be able to visualize everything that I read way more easily compared to some of my peers and the next series that I grew to love was Harry Potter and I started to read the series during my 5th grade and by the time I was halfway through 5th grade I was almost done with the 3rd book in the series. Then when I reached 6th grade I reached one book that changed my life forever, Case Closed or Detective Conan, a manga series. I started to write my own stories about saving the world with my friends where we would jump into different worlds and save them from monsters. I wrote about 10 pages of the stuff then I had to transfer to another school and forgot about it. While there I still liked the idea of writing and would think about story ideas but never write them down, because around my time there I also started to wonder about how I would do as a writer and think that I would never make it and that no one would like what I wrote so I decided to quit that dream and go into architecture. However when I went to school for architecture I grew to hate it around my second year there because I felt like I was being caged up and couldn't let my creativity flow out because there were rules I had to follow and couldn't truly show what I can do when I am able to let loose so I decided to try writing while I was there but I couldn't even do that because deadlines took up my time so I decided to needed to transfer or else I would feel more and more trapped and drained while over there. Over time I was growing complacent and growing more and more tired over there until one day I decided to listen to some music while working on a project and two songs stuck out to me. They were both from Disney, 'Belle' and 'Go The Distance' , each of these songs involved the characters wanting more out of life and two lyrics resonated with me. From Belle the lyric 'There must be more that this provincial life' which stuck out to me because I was stuck doing the same thing over and over again at my old college and from Go The Distance 'I will go most anyway to find where I belong' which hit me because at my old college I felt out of place and that no one understood me or got me. So I made the decision to transfer and go to University of Iowa and now I have people who understand.
