Since the day I became a mother, I made the choice to strive at being the best example i can be for my children. Being an example comes in many forms. Being an example can be a simple as waking up in a positive mood for work although you are not a morning person. Being intentional on raising good humans has been my goal! Unfortunately leading my children did come with sacrifices! Sacrifices of self and my emotional, career and dreams none of which i would ever trade with being the mother I am to my son and daughter. As a single mother having children has taught me how to press past difficult set backs. I’ve learned to keep going regardless of how hard something is or exhausted I may physically feel. My son supports me with his strengths of courage and consistency by protecting me as his sister as he helps in the best way he can at 14 years old. This is my main reason to finally put my self first and strive for a life long goal. At almost 40yrs old as a single mom, I’m not the oldest in my current nursing program striving to obtain a dream i sacrificed many years ago because i became a mom. I work in a small hospital where i watch other mothers put their health to the side to lead their household and raise their children. Over the years I asked God to show me where i can be beneficial to help other women and also feel fulfilled. With the help of my young children i feel inspired to remain consistent and steadfast in pursuing a calling on my life which is to be a registered nurse at the bedside. I faced many obstacles over the years but i know I’m finally in a season with my children’s age where i can finally invest in obtaining my education toward my dream. I don’t have a lot of support in the area where we live so for along time i hesitated to follow through my schooling. I recently learned to formulate my own routine with my sons sports and my daughters dance, although finances are tight it’s taught my home how to remain steadfast and firm on goals, God can do the rest. I’m hoping with in the next 2.5yrs I will be a RN. My biggest lesson in motherhood is knowing that I have a choice! I Teach my children to choose wisely and stick with it, when you do the right things your choices will always be great ones. I’m so glad i made the choice to be a mother a first!
