Bio

I am a student at Kennesaw State University majoring in Computer Science with a concentration in Cyber and Network Security. I am fascinated by technology, especially how to protect our devices. I current work full time at the United States Postal Service and part time as a Tech Fellow at Codepath.org. Although it is incredibly difficult balancing work and school, my goal to get my degree and to work in the tech field keeps me motivated. In my spare time I like creating art, music, videos and drawing. I also enjoy working out. It keeps me with clarity of mind.

    LGBTQ+ Wellness in Action Scholarship
As a transgender male, my mental and physical wellness is essential to my overall well-being, academic success, and personal growth. Pursuing higher education while balancing my health presents unique challenges, yet I remain committed to prioritizing my wellness as a means of self-empowerment and resilience. Mental health is particularly significant to me as a transgender student navigating a world that does not always understand or accept my identity. The stress of discrimination, misgendering, and societal stigma can take a toll on my emotional well-being. Anxiety and depression are common struggles within the LGBTQ+ community, and I am no exception. To manage my mental health, I seek excercise, practice mindfulness, and connect with supportive friends and family who affirm my identity. These efforts help me maintain a positive mindset and stay motivated in my academic and personal pursuits. Physical health is equally important, as it directly impacts my mental state and ability to perform in school. I take an active role in my healthcare, ensuring that I receive gender-affirming medical care, maintain a balanced diet, and exercise regularly. However, accessing affirming healthcare can be challenging. Finding providers who understand and respect my identity is not always easy, and dealing with insurance barriers can be frustrating. Despite these obstacles, I persist in advocating for my health because I know that caring for my body is an act of self-love and empowerment. As a student who works full-time while pursuing my degree, balancing academics, work, and self-care is a constant challenge. The pressures of coursework and job responsibilities often leave little time for rest and relaxation. There are days when exhaustion tempts me to neglect my well-being, but I remind myself that maintaining my health is not a luxury it is a necessity. I set boundaries, schedule time for self-care, and seek support when needed to ensure I do not compromise my wellness. The resilience I have developed in the face of these challenges drives me to advocate for inclusive healthcare and mental health resources for the LGBTQ+ community. I believe that no one should have to struggle alone, and I strive to be a role model for others by demonstrating that prioritizing health is both possible and essential. Receiving this scholarship would not only support my academic journey but also affirm the importance of self-care for LGBTQ+ students like myself. By continuing to prioritize my wellness, I hope to inspire others to do the same and contribute to a future where all individuals have access to the care and support they deserve.
