We often forget the little things, but there are some moments we shouldn't let slip away. Has someone ever reminded you of a happy memory you had together? Did it make you realize how happy it made you even though it was so small? As someone who frequently forgets things, I've experienced this many times. It’s sad that I would forget such joyful moments. Four years ago, I started writing daily lists for myself and called it my "happy journal". Back then I was losing motivation and interest to do things, even the hobbies I loved. I decided to start putting effort into my happiness. Every time I came home from high school I tried my best to remember everything that made me happy that day. I started noticing things I didn’t realize had such a high positive impact on my mood. Short conversations between classes, brief waves in the hallways, and coming home to my dog are just a few examples. Not only did this help me remember each day clearer, but recalling these little moments also improved my motivation and inspiration. In addition, if I came home in a bad mood it would give me a reason to smile. No matter how bad my day was it’s never too late to start over with a positive attitude. Life is overwhelming, but I needed to stop rushing through life. I started to see how much more free time I really have and started enjoying the little things more. I noticed many things that I took for granted and started appreciating things that I usually expected to happen. It made me realize how fast life can pass and by appreciating the little things, even schoolwork didn’t seem as stressful anymore. Soon, I didn't even need the journal anymore.
