I want to inspire my children by showing them that no matter what, if you aspire to further your education, you can succeed and be exactly what you aspire to be. I am a single mother of two children raising them on my own. My journey has been anything but easy. I am determined to graduate school and not only further my education but start my non-profit and engage in projects to assist other residents in my community. I also want my children to know how important it is to give back to the community and to always help others in need.
We have so many deficiencies in our community that need our support and one of my goals is to do my part to assist my community in turning those deficiencies around. We have members/transients in our community that need assistance. They may not want to go to Salvation Army or other social service agencies. I have started a Little Free Pantry(am starting) to try and curb some of the activity that may occur when people are hungry/homeless and desperate for food to sustain themselves. My children are right there with me trying to make this particular goal a reality.
I have other goals that I would like to see come to fruition. Within getting my non-profit off the ground, I want to offer services catered to single-parent homes and working families that are struggling to simply provide the basics for their families. It is very important to me that the children of these families are fully supported in every way so they have every possible chance to become successful in life and pay it forward to others in their community. That is one reason that I like for my children to be hands-on so they can be appreciative of every aspect of the process and they can be that much more appreciative when they can reap the rewards of all of their hard work.
I also plan to further my education after I obtain the degree I am currently working on. In my family, education is very important and is held in high esteem. We have many successful doctors, lawyers and educators that have given of themselves and made a tremendous impact in our community. I take pride and want my children to take pride in those that came before them and also make their own blueprint to continue the legacy that has been put before them.
