I am half Vietnamese and half Korean. Born in Korean and grown up in a small country (Vietnam). I followed my mom to Vietnam and my dad still live in Korea to work.
I am a first member that finished high school and go to college in the family. I always have a big dream that I will have a chance to study in the best country and environment in the world. And my family who try so hard to support me to reach my dream.
And now I am studying abroad in United States and I am studying at CSULB and trying my best to graduate, so I can appreciate what my family did and keep following my dream. And I am an senior at CSULB.
I love drawing since I was a kid, I want to be an artist and I am still following my dream. My major is graphic designer, I love designing packaging, logo or just drawing and customize things such as clothes, game skins (CSGO gun skins).

First-Generation Educators Scholarship
I am the luckiest person in my life because I have the best educator. The educator that has the most positive impact in my life is my mom. She is the one who encourages me to follow my dreams, she is the one who has supported me since the beginning and even now. She taught me not to be afraid of failure, she taught me to work hard and be patient, and she taught me to be nice and polite. My mother has not finished high school due to financial reasons of the family, she started working very early. But my mother was the best educator in my life. She educates me to improve myself, find myself and love myself.
She didn't expect me to be a doctor or a lawyer like any Asian parent wants their kids to be. There are two things that my mother always reminds me of: work hard and be kind. First, work hard on any task that I have. It does not mean work hard to be the best, but work hard to have no regrets in my life. Secondly, the human dignity is one of the most important factor that I need to improve in whole my life. Controlling the emotions, balancing the social life and my own life, and finally be kind. Kindness does not mean being expected to take or receive something from another person. Be kind that every time I see a smile from the person in front of me and I feel pleased. In this short paragraph, I cannot share how wonderful this educator is, how strong and independent she is and how warm and kind she is. But I think I have shared with you the most beautiful and meaningful lessons I have learned.
As a first-generation student, the factor that motivated me to be interested in going to college was curiosity. I heard my mother share a lot of high school memories, but she has no experience or memories of college because she didn't have the opportunity to experience it. The reason I want to go to college is because I want to share my college experience and the memories I had when I was in college. I wanted to tell her how I feel, what I've learned, difficulties, challenges, I mean everything. I wanted to experience that so I could tell her a story she would never know and I wanted to be that person.
