Bio

Through the guides of mental health and psychology, I continuously aim to learn more about the reasons and impacts someone's conditions can have on their health. As a future psychologist, I hope to help others who are just like me, individuals who grew up experiencing the struggles of repressing their emotions to protect themselves from further harm. Youth who felt as though there was no outlet to let out their voices. Psychology has aided and will continue to provide in my understanding of the influence someone's surroundings and community can have on themselves, whether it be damaging or healthy.

My parents always told me to continue my education to achieve a good life. As immigrants and refugees of the Vietnam War, my parents came to America, after a life full of hardships, hoping to provide the best for their families. Keeping their words in mind, I hope to make them proud and live out the dreams they could not fulfill in their time. As one of the first-generation college students in my family, I strive to provide guidance and support to my community as a clinical psychologist. My empathy and strive for helping others stemmed from my mother as she always saw the good in people and hoped to provide the best for me and my family. All my life, I have seen the distress of my parents, juggling trying to balance their emotional and physical needs, while also taking care of numerous children. Using my knowledge, I plan to help others learn how to cope and balance their daily routines. Being a Hmong American has given me a wonderful opportunity to experience life through a unique lens. Allowing me to provide a special outlook on life, while also connecting with others on a deeper level. In the Hmong community, I strive to better and provide a different view of their outlooks on life, one person at a time. By using my education and future profession, I will be able to reach people all around the country and provide my support and expertise.
