Bio

Hi, my name is Teeta Ozaeta and I am from Mobile, AL. I come from an immigrant parent background, both of my parents being from Belize. Higher education has always been my plan but affording it has always been an issue in my family. My siblings have had to drop out of college due to costs but I plan to be able to obtain my degree in event management through the help of numerous scholarships. The hospitality industry was not my intended career field but I fell in love with it after taking career classes at my high school. I aim to double my major and also become a professional interpreter so that I can spread aid to non-English speakers in the United States. I am attending Auburn University in the fall which will cause me to relocate to a new town. Although this will be a big change in my life I know it is for the best because many beneficial opportunities will be the outcome of my decision to attend this college. I also love volunteering and hanging out with my family. I have joined multiple clubs while in high school to expand my volunteer opportunities and connect with not only my community but also my school. Leadership is key to my scholastic mindset and through this, I have excelled in high school and plan to excel in not only college but also in my future career.

My name is Teeta Ozaeta and I had always struggled to find my passion. In high school I never really knew what I wanted to do while in college. Obtaining a degree was always something I wanted to achieve, but I had not discovered what that degree would be in. It was not until I took a hospitality and tourism course in high school that allowed me to realize the hospitality industry was exactly the career field that I wanted to be in. From the people to the services that they provided I was in awe of the amazing work environment that the people in this career field were able to work in everyday. Upon further research into the hospitality career field, I fell in love with event management and the way that you can change people's lives through the creation and management of an event. From baby showers, to weddings, and net working conferences, the executions of these events can either make or break the take aways that the attendees leave with. Wanting to provide others with positive experiences that they will keep with them for the rest of their lives is the push that made me want to major in Event Management, in plans of one day brining joy to others through the events that I execute and manage. Not only do I want to provide others with positive experiences by working as an Event Manager, I also want to push for more sustainable practices in the hospitality field. Overconsumption and food waste is a big issue concerning events that host a lot a people. Through minoring in sustainability and obtaining event management skills, I want to pair my management skills and sustainability skills to create more eco-friendly events, reducing waste and aiming for a healthier world. My main goal through this occupation is to work globally managing events so I would love to take my sustainability skills and implement those around the world through event managing. Lastly, as stated above the hospitality industry stuck out to me because of how amazing those that work in this field are. Being able to meet so many different people from around the world through events is an amazing aspect of this profession. Also, just being able to bring happiness to people and putting a smile on their face allows you to feel a sense of accomplishment knowing that what you have done has made an individuals day. In all, I have fell in love with the hospitality field and attending Auburn University has provided me with so many opportunities like working at the Master's Golf Tournament. I can not wait to see what the future has in store for me and I look forward to finding my place in this amazing industry.
