Bio

One of my life goals is to learn as much as possible about providing life changing healthcare to the animals of the world. I strive to become a successful veterinarian and entrepreneur. I dream to open an animal hospital, that would not only provide top notch healthcare, but also provide the needed training for the owners. The facility will also provide a place for adoption of pets and a discount retail store that would be affordable to owners to purchase the needed food and accessories to provide a healthy and happy life for their pets. I am passionate about obtaining the best education and knowledge available to achieve my goals. I am also passionate about providing the best healthcare for all of my future animal clients. Needless to say, I am also very passionate about God, my family and my country. I am a great candidate for your scholarships, as I am truly in need of your financial to achieve my goals and to keep from further school debt. Your gracious gift will not be under appreciated. I would be very grateful and promise you that I would diligently work hard to be successful and fulfill my calling on earth. I will also promise, once successful, to pay these blessings forward. I am a strong believer that dreams can come true. If you believe it, then you can achieve it! I am currently working on achieving my dream. I am currently working full-time as a vet tech. I will be attending my dream school, "The Ohio State University" in January 2023 working on my master's in animal science. I dream that after achieving my master's at OSU, I would like to continue my studies there in their Doctor of Veterinarian Program. As a child, I always had an attraction to animals. My parents would call me Elly Mae, a character from the television show The Beverly Hillbillies, because of her fondness of animals. As a young child I dreamt of becoming a veterinarian, so I could heal and help the pets and animals on earth. The dream doesn't just stop at achieving my goal of becoming a veterinarian, I want to construct and open a large veterinarian hospital. This hospital would be unique, as it would have several floors dedicated to the good health of pets. One floor would be dedicated to providing emergency and necessary surgeries. There would be a floor that would be dedicated for a clinic to provide routine care and necessary maintenance for the pets. I believe that pets are only as healthy and happy as their owner's knowledge to provide a healthy environment. Therefore, my dream is for a floor in my hospital dedicated to providing educational courses and training for owners to learn how to care for and provide the needed love, exercise, and nutritional diet and how to detect the symptoms when their pet is not well. These courses and training would be essential to ensuring that the owners will have a happy and healthy pet. There would be another floor that would facilitate the adoption of unwanted and homeless pets, where potential owners would have to take some of training and courses before they can adopt any pet in my facility. There would also be a floor in the hospital that would provide a store for my clients and pet owners to buy the necessary nutritional food and accessories to provide a healthy, safe and love-filled environment for their pets. Finally, there would be a floor that would have training for the pets and owners. Lastly, I dream that I would be able to franchise this version of an animal hospital across the nation and hopefully the world. This multi-faceted hospital is what my dream life would look like. I will continue to dream until it comes true. Again, if you believe you can achieve, because with God All Things are Possible!

I am a graduate of the University of Pittsburg, with a degree in Bio/Chemistry and a minor in African American studies. I will be attending Ohio State University in January to continue my pursuit to achieve a Doctrine of Veterinarian Medicine. As a child, I always loved animals. My passion for animals was so great that my parents nicknamed me Elly Mae, a character from the Beverly Hillbillies, who loved animals. Hopefully, I didn't age you too much. LOL. Growing up, I was fortunate enough to have two dogs in my household. One was my older brother's dog and eventually, I was able to have my own dog, Tootsie Roll a Choclate Lab. It was her that taught me the importance of having a pet and the impact that they made in their owners' life. When I was sad or had a bad day, she would greet me at the door with unconditional love and affection. Tootsie Roll was my best friend as a child. Unfortunately, she died of cancer. It was my love of animals and the tragic deaths of my dogs that lit the light bulb to drive me to my career choice of becoming a life changing impactful Veterinarian. You may ask, how can a veterinarian make a positive impact on the society. Knowing the great impact that a pet can have in the life of humans, by providing unconditional love, companionship, guidance, food providers and sometimes even entertainers I plan on making an impact on society by establishing a multi-faceted veterinarian hospital that will provide top notch medical care and maintenance, research to learn advanced medical treatments and cures, training for pet owners, so they may learn to best care for their pet and a retail establishment that will provide low cost affordable and healthy food and accessories to prolong the lives of their pets and an adoption center, so people can obtain a pet. This may seem like a very minimal impact to society. However, this will turn out to be very impactful in some human's lives. Looniness is a major problem in our world today. It is a major cause in the high rise of suicides in our society. There are people who never had a partner or a friend that will provide them with unconditional love. By providing all of these services necessary to maintain a happy healthy life for pets and their owners, I will be making an impact in the lives of the lonely and those looking for love who may not have found it by owning a healthy and happy pet. Everyone deserves the opportunity to find unconditional love and companionship. Remember, "It is Love that makes the World go Round"

First, I would like to thank you for providing an opportunity for a scholarship for animal lovers, because I too am an avid lover of animals. When I was a young child my fascination with animals began to peak. I would ask my parents for birds, dogs, fish, hamsters and any other animal I could think of having in my home. My love of animals became so evident that my parents nick named me Elly Mae, a character from the television show, The Beverly Hillbillies, who loved animals. Hopefully, I didn't age you too much. LOL I received my first pet, Tootsie Roll, a chocolate Labrador retriever at the age of eleven. I truly loved this dog, as we would play outside, and I would feed and care for him. Unfortunately, Tootsie Roll was raped by a neighborhood dog and had eight puppies. Since she was raped at a young age, she didn't really have the instincts to care for her puppies. I jumped in and decided that I would be responsible for caring for the puppies and Tootsie Roll. Every day, before school and directly after school I would check in on the puppies and Tootsie Roll and ensure that they were all given the care and love that they so desperately needed to survive. It was this event that changed the direction of my life. At that young age, my love for animals drew me to the decision to become a veterinarian. I am currently continuing my education to achieve my goal of becoming a successful doctor in the field of veterinary medicine, so I can continue to provide the care and love that All animals need. In three years, I vision myself in The Ohio State University Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Program, working diligently to pursue my goal of becoming a veterinarian. Further along in the future, I envision myself establishing an Animal Hospital, that would provide that would provide expert care and love for all of my animal clients. This hospital would also provide extensive training for owners to ensure they know how to provide the necessary care and love that their pets so desperately require. In addition, I plan to have a discount affordable pet retail store in the facility to ensure that the owners can provide the nutritional needs and accessories needed to have a healthy and loved pet. Again, I would like to thank you for the opportunity to provide the needed financial investment to for a fellow animal lover to pursue her dream!

I previously owned two dogs, TJ a Shiba Inu named after my older brother Terrance and Tootsie Roll, a chocolate Labrador retriever. Unfortunately, both died separately when I was young. The death of my beloved pets played a very important role in my future career choice of becoming a veterinarian. TJ died in the home and as a family we got to watch over him as he took his last breath. It was a very traumatic experience. Every now and then I can visualize his dying minutes. Tootsie Roll past while the family was in Maryland at a basketball tournament my dad was coaching in. Tootsie Roll was at the kennel that we used when we would go away. I was notified by the kennel that Tootsie Roll was not doing well and that they were taking her to our veterinarian's office. My brother and I started to drive from Maryland to our vet's office in Pennsylvania. All the while in the car, I am thinking not again, I can't experience another death of my beloved pet. When we got to the office, the veterinarian gave us the sad news that there was not anything more they could do to save her. I had to make the most difficult decision in my young life to put her down. Once again, I had to watch my beloved pet in her last dying minutes. These two dogs have played a very important role in my life and my future career choice. As previously mentioned, this experience has inspired me to become a veterinarian. I want to do my best to see if I can avoid having someone else experience the devasting sadness that I had to endure with the death of my two dogs. It took a long time before I could even begin to think about having another dog. However, I did realize that there was something missing in my life that I wanted and probably needed. As a gift for my graduation from the University of Pittsburg, I asked my parents if I can have another dog. It astonished my father as he was positive that I would I ask for a car as my graduation gift. They agreed with my request and now I have a new dog, a labradoodle named Tucker. Tucker has brought back a newfound love and appreciation for having a pet dog. I never thought that I would be able to love another dog after losing two. I plan on taking Tucker with me to school at Ohio State University, as I continue my education to become a veterinarian. I strongly believe that having Tucker with me at school will not only provide me with companionship, but also serve as an inspiration to continue my dream career, It is truly amazing how important of a role these experiences with my dogs have played in my life. Most of the time people speak about a person or their parents who have played an important role inspiring a life changing decision in their life. However, for me it is TJ, Tootsie Roll and Tucker who have played an important and very inspiring role in my life. I know there is all different types of pets in this world, but for me there is nothing like having a dog in my life.
