Being a student-athlete has taught me how to balance responsibility, dedication, and perseverance in every part of my life. As a cheer athlete, I have learned that success does not come easily. It takes consistent practice, teamwork, and the ability to stay motivated even during difficult moments. Cheer has become more than just a sport, it has shaped my character and taught me valuable lessons that I apply both in the classroom and in my everyday life. Dedication is one of the most important qualities I have developed as a student-athlete. Cheer requires long practices, physical conditioning, and constant repetition in order to improve skills and routines. Even when practices are exhausting or my schedule feels very overwhelming, I continue to push myself because I understand the importance of commitment. I bring that same mindset into the classroom by staying focused on my academic goals, completing assignments on time, and working hard to maintain strong grades. Balancing school and athletics has taught me strong time-management skills and the importance of staying disciplined. Teamwork is another major part of my experience as a cheer athlete. Cheer depends on trust and communication because every athlete plays an important role in the success of the team. Whether we are practicing stunts, preparing for performances, or supporting one another during stressful moments, I have learned how important it is to encourage others and work together toward a common goal. I try to be a positive and supportive teammate by motivating others and helping create an environment where everyone feels included and valued. In school, I apply these same teamwork skills during group projects and class activities by listening to others, contributing my ideas, and cooperating respectfully. Resilience is something I have strengthened throughout my journey as a student-athlete. There have been times when I felt physically tired, frustrated, or discouraged after making mistakes or facing challenges, but cheer has taught me to keep going and learn from setbacks instead of giving up. I understand that growth takes patience and persistence. That mindset has helped me academically as well. When I struggle with difficult assignments or stressful situations, I stay determined and continue working until I improve. Overall, being a student-athlete has helped me grow into a hardworking, dependable, and resilient person. The lessons I have learned through cheer and academics will continue to guide me as I pursue my future goals and continue striving for success.

Cheer has been an important part of my life because it has taught me discipline, confidence, teamwork, and perseverance. I have been involved in cheer for several years, and throughout that time I have grown not only as an athlete but also as a person. Cheerleading is often misunderstood as simply cheering from the sidelines, but it requires strength, dedication, athleticism, and trust. Every practice, performance, and competition has helped shape my character and taught me lessons that I will continue to carry with me in the future. Being a cheerleader requires a strong commitment. Practices can be long and physically demanding, especially when learning routines, stunts, tumbling, and choreography. At the same time, I have had to balance school, personal responsibilities, and athletics. Cheer taught me how to manage my time wisely and stay focused on my goals even when things became stressful. There were moments when practices felt exhausting or when routines did not go perfectly, but those experiences taught me the importance of persistence and hard work. I learned that success comes from consistency, preparation, and determination. One of the most meaningful parts of cheer has been the teamwork involved. Cheerleading depends on trust and communication because every athlete relies on one another during stunts and performances. I learned how important it is to support my teammates and work together toward a common goal. Whether we were preparing for a competition or encouraging each other during difficult practices, I understood how valuable teamwork truly is. Cheer helped me become more dependable, positive, and encouraging both on and off the mat. Through my years in cheer, I have also gained confidence in myself. Performing in front of crowds and competing under pressure taught me how to stay calm and focused in stressful situations. Cheer pushed me outside of my comfort zone and helped me believe more in my abilities. Over time, I became more comfortable taking on leadership roles, motivating teammates, and setting a positive example for others. These experiences helped me grow into a stronger and more confident person. During my athletic career, I have been proud to contribute to my team’s accomplishments and successes. Whether through competitions, performances, or team achievements, every experience taught me the value of dedication and effort. Receiving recognition for hard work and commitment has been rewarding, but the biggest accomplishment for me has been the personal growth I gained through cheer. The lessons I learned about responsibility, resilience, and teamwork are more meaningful than any trophy or award. Cheer has also given me lifelong memories and friendships. Spending time with teammates during practices, games, competitions, and events created strong bonds and unforgettable experiences. The support and encouragement we gave one another made challenges easier to overcome and victories even more rewarding. Being part of a team showed me the importance of community and having people who motivate you to do your best. Overall, cheer has had a major impact on my life. It has taught me how to work hard, stay disciplined, and push through challenges with determination. More importantly, it helped me build confidence, leadership skills, and strong relationships with others. Cheer has shaped me into a more motivated and resilient person, and the lessons I learned through my athletic career will continue to guide me in college and beyond.

Going to college means more to me than just getting a degree. It represents opportunity, independence, and the chance to create a successful future for myself and my family. College is a place where I can continue learning, discover new experiences, and grow into the person I want to become. I see it as an important step toward building a stable life and reaching goals that will impact my future for years to come. One of the main things I hope to accomplish in college is gaining the education and skills needed for a successful career. I want to pursue something that challenges me and allows me to make a positive difference in the world. Whether it is through business, technology, healthcare, or another field, I want a career that gives me purpose and stability. College will help me develop important skills like communication, leadership, problem-solving, and responsibility that I can use both professionally and personally. Another reason college is important to me is because it gives me the chance to become more independent. In college, I will have to manage my own schedule, stay organized, and make important decisions on my own. I believe those experiences will help me mature and become more confident in myself. I also look forward to meeting new people from different backgrounds and learning from their experiences and perspectives. Being exposed to different ideas can help me grow as a person and open my mind to new possibilities. Going to college also means proving to myself that I can accomplish difficult goals. Earning a degree requires hard work, dedication, and perseverance. There will be challenges, but overcoming them will make me stronger and more prepared for the future. I want to show myself and others that I am capable of succeeding when I put my mind to something. College is not just about academics; it is also about personal growth and learning how to handle responsibility. In addition, I want to make my family proud. Many parents and families work hard to provide opportunities for their children, and going to college is one way I can honor those sacrifices. I want to create a future where I can support myself financially and eventually give back to the people who supported me along the way. Having a college education can open doors to better opportunities and provide more security in life. Overall, going to college means building a foundation for my future. It is a chance to learn, grow, and prepare for a successful career and life. I am trying to accomplish more than just earning a diploma—I want to gain knowledge, develop confidence, and create opportunities for myself. College represents a new chapter filled with challenges, experiences, and achievements that will help shape the person I become.

When it comes to giving back to future students at Lawndale High School is something I care deeply about because I understand how important guidance, support, and opportunity are during those years. As I continue my education and build my career, I plan to “pay it forward” by staying connected to my high school community and creating opportunities that can inspire and support the next generation of students. One of the main ways I plan to give back is through mentorship. Having experience as a leader while training younger cheerleaders has shown me how impactful guidance can be. I want to return to Lawndale High School and mentor students who are interested in pursuing their goals, whether that’s in culinary arts, business, or other career paths. I hope to share my experiences, give advice on college and career preparation, and help students build confidence in themselves. Sometimes, all a student needs is someone who believes in them and shows them what’s possible. In addition to mentorship, I want to create opportunities related to my future career in the culinary industry. Once I gain enough experience, I plan to host workshops, cooking demonstrations, or even small programs where students can learn basic culinary skills and explore career options in hospitality. Many students may not realize how many paths exist within the food industry, and I want to help open their eyes to those possibilities. Eventually, when I achieve my goal of owning a restaurant, I hope to offer internships or part-time job opportunities specifically for Lawndale High School students. This would give them real-world experience and a chance to start building their future early. Another important way I plan to give back is by supporting school programs and activities. Whether it’s donating time, resources, or funding in the future, I want to help strengthen the programs that helped shape me. I also hope to continue supporting cheer and other student organizations by volunteering when I can, helping train or encourage younger students just as I have done before. Staying involved in this way allows me to continue building a sense of community and connection. Paying it forward also means leading by example. I want future students to see someone from their own school who worked hard, stayed focused, and achieved their goals. By showing that success is possible, I hope to motivate others to believe in themselves and push beyond their limits. I understand that not every student has the same support system, so I want to be someone who can help fill that gap for others. Overall, my plan to give back to Lawndale High School is rooted in mentorship, opportunity, and service. I want to use my experiences, skills, and future success to uplift others and create pathways for students to grow. By staying connected to my high school and investing in its students, I hope to make a lasting impact and ensure that future generations have the support they need to succeed.

My future goals are shaped by my passion for food, my desire to lead, and my commitment to helping others. While in college, I plan to major in culinary arts or hospitality management so I can build both the technical and business skills needed to succeed in the restaurant industry. During this time, I want to gain hands on experience through internships in professional kitchens and restaurants, where I can learn directly from chefs and understand how successful businesses operate. I also plan to take courses in entrepreneurship, since owning a restaurant requires more than just cooking it requires leadership, financial planning, and strong decision making skills. In addition to my academic goals, I want to stay actively involved on campus and in my community. I hope to participate in student organizations related to food and service, as well as volunteer programs that address food insecurity. Being in college will give me access to new opportunities to connect with people from different backgrounds, and I want to use that environment to grow not just professionally, but personally as well. My goal is to become someone who can lead with both skill and compassion. After graduation, I plan to work in the culinary industry to continue building experience, eventually working my way up to a leadership role in a restaurant. My long-term goal is to open my own restaurant. I want it to be more than just a place to eat, I want it to be a space that brings people together and gives back to the community. I plan to create job opportunities for people who may struggle to find work, including young adults and individuals from underserved communities. I also hope to include programs such as free meals for those in need or partnerships with local organizations to support food drives. Community service has already played an important role in my life, especially through leadership opportunities. I have been working on building my leadership skills by training younger cheerleaders, helping them improve their techniques, build confidence, and work together as a team. Through this experience, I have learned how to communicate effectively, stay patient, and support others as they grow. Guiding younger athletes has shown me the importance of being a positive role model and has strengthened my ability to lead by example. In addition, I have always enjoyed helping others in my community, whether through small acts of service or supporting those around me. These experiences have taught me responsibility, empathy, and the value of giving back. As I move forward in my education and career, I plan to continue integrating service into everything I do. In college, I will look for volunteer opportunities related to food and community outreach, and I hope to take on leadership roles where I can mentor others just as I have with cheerleading. After graduation, I want my career itself to be a form of service. By owning a restaurant that prioritizes people and community, I can create a lasting impact. My goal is not just to succeed personally, but to uplift others along the way and create opportunities for those who need them most. Ultimately, my future goals are about combining my passion for cooking with my desire to help others. Through hard work, education, and continued service, I hope to build a career that makes a positive and lasting difference in my community.

Resilience is not something people are simply born with; it is built through challenges, setbacks, and the decision to keep moving forward even when things feel overwhelming. In my life, I have had moments where giving up would have been easier, but I chose to push through. By doing so, I not only grew stronger myself, but I was also able to inspire others around me to believe in their own ability to overcome obstacles. One of the most important ways I have demonstrated resilience is through my commitment to my goals, even when I lacked support or faced uncertainty. There have been times when I had to rely entirely on myself to stay motivated and focused, especially when things did not go as planned. Instead of letting frustration or doubt take over, I learned how to adapt, stay disciplined, and keep working toward what I wanted. This mindset helped me realize that setbacks are not failures they are opportunities to learn and improve. A specific moment that stands out is when I faced a difficult period academically and personally at the same time. Balancing responsibilities became overwhelming, and it felt like I was falling behind. However, instead of giving up, I began to organize my time better, ask for help when needed, and stay consistent with my efforts. Slowly but surely, I improved. What made this experience meaningful was not just my own progress, but how others noticed the change. Friends and classmates who were also struggling began to see that improvement was possible. By sharing my experience and encouraging them to keep going, I was able to support them in their own journeys. Resilience also means maintaining a positive attitude when things are difficult. I made a conscious effort to stay optimistic and focused on solutions rather than problems. When others around me felt discouraged, I tried to remind them that challenges are temporary and that persistence leads to growth. Even simple words of encouragement or leading by example such as continuing to show up and put in effort can have a powerful impact on someone else. Through these experiences, I have learned that resilience is not just about personal success; it is about how your strength can influence others. When people see someone pushing through difficulties, it gives them hope that they can do the same. I take pride in knowing that my determination has helped motivate others to keep trying, even when things feel tough. In the future, I plan to continue using my resilience to inspire and uplift those around me. Whether it is through my career, friendships, or everyday interactions, I want to be someone who encourages others to believe in themselves. Life will always present challenges, but resilience allows us to turn those challenges into opportunities for growth not just for ourselves, but for everyone we impact along the way.

I have always been someone who finds joy in bringing people together, and for me, that starts in the kitchen. Cooking is more than just preparing food, it is a way to express creativity, care for others, and create meaningful experiences. Over time, this passion has grown into a clear goal for my future: I want to become a restaurant owner. I am not only interested in cooking itself, but also in understanding the business side of running a restaurant and learning from the paths that successful chefs have taken to build their careers. My interest in the restaurant industry comes from both my love for food and my curiosity about how restaurants operate behind the scenes. I want to learn everything from managing finances and marketing to creating menus and leading a team. I understand that being a restaurant owner requires more than just culinary skill, it takes discipline, leadership, and strong decision-making. By studying both business strategies and culinary techniques, I plan to prepare myself for the challenges of owning and operating a successful restaurant. What motivates me the most is the ability to make a positive impact on others through my work. Food has a unique way of connecting people from different backgrounds, and I want my restaurant to be a place where everyone feels welcome. I believe that everyone deserves a chance, whether it’s a customer walking through the door or an employee looking for an opportunity. In my future career, I plan to create a supportive environment where people can grow, learn, and feel valued. I am especially passionate about helping others improve and reach their potential. As a restaurant owner, I want to mentor aspiring chefs and employees who may not have had many opportunities before. By teaching them skills, encouraging their creativity, and supporting their goals, I hope to make a lasting difference in their lives. I believe that success is not just about personal achievement, but about lifting others up along the way. In addition, I want my restaurant to contribute positively to the community. This could include supporting local suppliers, reducing food waste, or even organizing events that give back to those in need. Small actions can create meaningful change, and I want my business to reflect my values of generosity and responsibility. Overall, my goal is to combine my passion for cooking with my desire to help others. Becoming a restaurant owner will allow me to do both, create memorable experiences through food while also making a difference in people’s lives. Through hard work, dedication, and a commitment to giving others a chance, I hope to build not just a successful business, but a place that inspires growth, connection, and positivity.
