Bio

I am a high school senior from Fortuna Union High School, where growing up in a close-knit community has shaped my values, work ethic, and the way I treat others. Life here has taught me the importance of showing up for people, staying grounded, and appreciating the small but meaningful connections that make a community strong. I’ve carried those lessons into school and everyday life by being responsible, dependable, and willing to step up when something needs to be done, even if it’s behind the scenes. What makes me unique is that I focus not only on my own goals, but also on how I can positively impact the people around me. I value being genuine, consistent, and someone others can rely on, whether in group settings, school responsibilities, or community involvement. I’m not someone who seeks attention, but I take pride in quietly working hard and making a difference where I can. After graduation, I plan to attend Boise State University, where I will major in nursing. I am excited to pursue a career in healthcare because I want to care for others in meaningful moments of their lives and continue growing into someone who serves my community through compassion and dedication.

The clearest lesson I remember from my dad comes from a difficult period in our family—when he and my mom got divorced. Even during that emotionally challenging time, I remember watching him carry himself with responsibility and composure. Despite the stress and changes happening around him, he focused on making sure I was supported and that daily life remained as stable as possible. He did not allow his personal struggles to interfere with his responsibilities as a parent. At the time, I did not fully understand the strength that required, but looking back, I recognize it as a defining example of his character—steady, responsible, and focused even during hardship. That experience has stayed with me and continues to influence how I approach my own responsibilities and challenges. It also taught me that life does not pause for difficult circumstances, and that growth often requires continuing forward even when things feel uncertain or overwhelming. The most influential person in my life is my dad because of the way he consistently demonstrates responsibility, integrity, and perseverance. Growing up, I came to realize that he does not rely on words to teach me lessons; instead, he leads through example. He approaches challenges with a steady mindset and does not allow stress or difficulty to change his sense of duty. This has influenced the way I view my own responsibilities, especially in school. I have learned that success is not based on momentary motivation, but on discipline and the ability to remain consistent even when tasks become difficult. His example has also taught me that doing the right thing is not always easy, but it is always necessary. My dad has also shaped my understanding of character and how to treat others. He consistently demonstrates respect, patience, and fairness in his interactions, regardless of the situation. He does not seek recognition for what he does, yet he is trusted and respected by those around him. This has influenced my own values and behavior. I strive to be dependable in group settings, respectful toward others, and willing to help when needed. His example has taught me that true character is reflected in how a person behaves when no one is watching. I have also learned from him that respect is earned through consistency and integrity, not words alone. In addition, my dad has influenced how I handle pressure and challenges. He remains calm and focused in stressful situations, which has shown me the importance of emotional control and clear thinking. Instead of reacting impulsively or becoming discouraged when difficulties arise, I have learned to slow down, assess the situation, and continue working toward a solution. This mindset has helped me become more resilient in both academic and personal situations. It has also taught me that setbacks are opportunities to adjust, learn, and improve rather than reasons to stop trying. His influence has played a major role in shaping my future goals. I plan to attend Boise State University, where I will major in nursing. I have chosen nursing because I want to pursue a career where I can provide care, support, and stability to individuals during vulnerable moments in their lives. My dad’s example of responsibility, calmness under pressure, and dedication to others has shown me the importance of these qualities in healthcare. I hope to carry these lessons forward by remaining composed in challenging situations, working diligently, and providing compassionate care to others throughout my career.
