The clearest lesson I remember from my dad comes from a difficult period in our family—when he and my mom got divorced. Even during that emotionally challenging time, I remember watching him carry himself with responsibility and composure. Despite the stress and changes happening around him, he focused on making sure I was supported and that daily life remained as stable as possible. He did not allow his personal struggles to interfere with his responsibilities as a parent. At the time, I did not fully understand the strength that required, but looking back, I recognize it as a defining example of his character—steady, responsible, and focused even during hardship. That experience has stayed with me and continues to influence how I approach my own responsibilities and challenges. It also taught me that life does not pause for difficult circumstances, and that growth often requires continuing forward even when things feel uncertain or overwhelming. The most influential person in my life is my dad because of the way he consistently demonstrates responsibility, integrity, and perseverance. Growing up, I came to realize that he does not rely on words to teach me lessons; instead, he leads through example. He approaches challenges with a steady mindset and does not allow stress or difficulty to change his sense of duty. This has influenced the way I view my own responsibilities, especially in school. I plan to attend Boise State University, where I will major in nursing. I have chosen nursing because I want to pursue a career where I can provide care, support, and stability to individuals during vulnerable moments in their lives. My dad’s example of responsibility, calmness under pressure, and dedication to others has shown me the importance of these qualities in healthcare. I hope to carry these lessons forward by remaining composed in challenging situations, working diligently, and providing compassionate care to others throughout my career.
