Bio

I am currently a single mother of two high school aged daughters. I decided to continue my education to better not only my life, but the lives of my children. I wanted to set an example for my daughters and show them that anything through hard work and determination is possible. I have always had an interest in the health care field and decided that a bachelors degree in health care administration was the best fit for me. I currently work in a busy optometry office as a receptionist, insurance biller, and optical technician. My hobbies include cooking, sports, sci-fi films, and taking care of my adorable rescue puppy!

Life is definitely what you make of it. When I graduated from high school in the year 2000, I had never imagined that life would have so many unexpected situations. My original plan was to attend community college and then transfer to a university. That all changed when I got married and started a family. I had put my education on hold and said that the day would eventually come where I would pick up where I left off. Well, the time has come! I have decided that now is no better time to continue my education and work towards my Bachelors degree in healthcare administration. My children are now in high school (my oldest child is now a senior) and I want to set the example for them that it is never too late to complete your goals. I began my online courses at Grand Canyon University March 2021 and although it is very challenging, I know that the reward of it all will be worth it. Obtaining my bachelors degree will open so many new doors and allow me to further my career in healthcare. These new opportunities will give me the financial stability that I need for my children and I. Unfortunately, I am now divorced and a single mother. I currently work in an optometry office where I have many responsibilities such as medical billing and assisting our optometrist before patient exams. The work is rewarding, but I need something more. That is why it is very important that I complete the educational journey that I began a little over twenty years ago. I need to do this not only for myself, but my children as well. When my daughters see their mother walk across the graduation stage and see that all of the hard work, dedication, and perseverance has finally paid off for us all.
